We visited Bar Priori after checking out the Palazzo dei Priori, where we'll be getting married next year. We were both in a a great mood after seeing the venue - until we sat down for a drink outside Bar Priori that is.
First off, we waited 20 minutes to get served, during which time other Italian patrons were served immediately after being seated. Even then I had to stand up and wave at the waitress to take our order, which she did with a look of thunder on her face.
Then there was another 20 minute wait for the drinks (a coke and a lemonade: 5 euros each). After another 10 minutes my girlfriend's panini arrived, then there was another 10 minutes for my slice of pizza, which the waitress basically threw at me with a look of disgust on her face!
I wasn't going to let her get to me but after waiting god knows how long for her to get the bill I decided to go in and pay her directly instead - I gave her a tip (I've no idea why I did this) and she made some smart arsed comment to the other waitress before laughing in my face and giving me the most insulting and sarcastic 'Grazie!'
I couldn't believe how rude she was, I've no idea what we did to offend her - the only conclusion I can draw is she doesn't like tourists, or waitressing?!
Shame, because it would have been an ideal venue for our post wedding celebrations. Their loss. Save your money and enjoy your visit to Volterra by staying well clear of Bar Priori. read more
