It was a two level apartment right in the heart of Riomaggiore. We had a balcony overlooking the harbor and we each had our own room. And the price was better than most hotels and other apartments in the area. + Place also had free WiFi - Make sure you figure out when and how you are going to meet landlord. Payphones are hard to find.

They are thoughtful, prompt and easy to communicate with, I would choose this option over hotels or airbnb again and again, and plan to in the near future.

We were taking pictures of the sign outside (like obnoxious American tourists), and he invited us to go inside to try his tortellini (wonderful beef and parmigiano filling). We noticed a small table inside, and it turns out you can do a private degustation for €25 per person - we were able to get a reservation for the following day for lunch (Saturday in November). I'm glad Netflix brought well deserved attention to Luca's shop!

They invited us to join the next day and wow are we eternally grateful. Stepping in to Boutique del Tortellino is like stepping into the apartment of an old friend and sitting down at their kitchen table for an incomparable meal and experience. We have had a few excellent meals while traveling through Italy including Osteria Francescana and, without taking anything away from any other restaurant, I can say that this was far and away the best. When we left we weren't even a block away before three out of the four of us were crying happy tears. We talked for over an hour about our experience before even getting to the topic of the food. But then there's the food, of course. We were served the best bowl of pasta I've ever had in my entire life. Every dish and bottle of wine was full of flavor, passion and a big burst of humanity at its finest. If you have the opportunity to stop by for lunch or dinner I can't recommend enough. We'll be fondly reminiscing about this meal for decades to come.

The apartment clearly needed more maintenance and investment, and among several issues, the two biggest and most disruptive were the air conditioning and the bed. The air conditioning would stay on for only about 20-30 minutes and then switch itself off. Restarting it was not simple: you had to go back to the control panel, press several buttons, and hold another one down. So you could go to bed comfortable, then wake up in the middle of the night sweating and have to get up and restart the system. The same thing happened repeatedly during the day. The first time we reported it, we were simply thanked for letting them know. The next day, after we contacted them again, we were told someone would be sent. Nobody came. A couple of days later someone finally did come, but he clearly did not know how to solve the problem and nothing changed. The mattress was, without exaggeration, the worst bed I have ever slept on. It had virtually no support, sank deeply, was noisy, and was impossible for me to sleep on comfortably. Management's practical solution was to offer a mattress pad/topper, which might change the surface feel but does nothing to fix a complete lack of support. In the end, I had to improvise my own solution by taking the thin mattress from the sofa bed and placing it on top, together with the topper. Even then, I was only able to sleep on my side. For an apartment costing more than €300 per night, that should simply not happen. Management did offer another apartment, but it was much smaller and had stairs leading to the bedroom, which was not suitable for us at all. We also asked whether a refund for the unused nights was possible given the conditions, but that request was denied. That was especially disappointing because these were not minor inconveniences. We were dealing with an unusable mattress and an air-conditioning system that repeatedly shut itself off, yet we were still expected to absorb the full cost of the stay. The apartment had real potential because of the location, but at this price level the basics need to work properly. The experience left us feeling that the property needed more maintenance and reinvestment than it was receiving, and that when significant problems arose, the response was not adequate to the seriousness of the situation.

The clean modern open floor plan is awesome with the little balcony out of the room gives it a cuteness factor. The color scheme is nice as well. The bathroom is spacious for European standards. Having drinks in the mini bar in a complimentary manner is a nice touch for multiple days. Customer service/staff- The employees are so awesome of this place. They helped answer our million questions and with a smile. They are so accommodating and help plan any trips if you need their advice. Location- This is 3 minutes walk to Duomo. It's right beside Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Being so close to everything is great. Hotel- Thanks for a great trip so far due to our great living accommodations, we are loving our stay here. This place is beautiful! A newly renovated space, converted from an old hospital. The windows were…read moregrand and the ceilings were at least 12 feet high. It is quiet impressive, I didn't exactly expect it to be mansion like but it was to some degree. The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious. There was a grand staircase and chandeliers everywhere, including in the bedroom. My room had two showers, I guess for couples to shower together. It was an interesting concept although we never put it to use. The only complaint is that the water from the open shower doesn't drain properly, In the morning there is still a puddle of water where the shower curtain is. I think this is a problem with a lot of minimalist showers though so I won't penalize this place for it. Lots of toiletries, which is always a plus even if I don't end up using all of it. Service was great. Two attendants were sent to help us with our luggage upon arrival. The front desk was helpful in assisting us in making restaurant reservations and calling a taxi upon our departure. Breakfast was situated in a beautiful room, unfortunately we had to catch an early train and didn't get to fully enjoy the view. The location is about 5 minutes away from the train station by taxi, which is convenient. Parma is a really small city. Everything is walkable, at least the places tourists want to go anyways. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Parma!
