We ended up having the most beautiful wedding and couldn't be happier with the whole experience. The food was delicious, and Noor, the event coordinator, was phenomenal with the details and everyone went above and beyond to be sure we had everything we needed all weekend long. I highly recommend the Gillespie Center for anyone having a wedding in South Bend - but especially if you are having a wedding at the ND Basilica. The convenience was awesome!

This all had to occur within one month. I found this venue online and it seems to be the best place considering the location and options. They were very accomodating and helpful. The communication was seamless. The event itself was very easy. The staff was very attentive and customer service oriented. Only complaint was that the bartender would need to be called back to the bar a few times, but then again the group was not drinking too much on this Sunday afternoon. They did an excellent job of setting up and creating the environment we had hoped for. The food was amazing, especially the mini-beef wellingtons! The prices are as what you would expect at any venue but the coordinator is very accommodating to your needs. The location is right off of the highway and the parking is very easy so its great for out of town guests (plus plenty of hotel rooms).

There is a large bar area and enough room for a cocktail hour line plus a coffee bar. Most importantly, there is a disco ball! Plus: everything was clean and well-maintained. Hedwig took care of the wall decorations, table decorations, tablecloths, bar, and dinner. The wall decorations were white and (at the bride and groom's request) red lights. It was quite elegant. They also recommended the DJ, who was quite good! If I weren't from out of town, I'd have some event at Hedwig myself. Keep up the good work, Hedwig!

This owner…read morerefused to give me my money back for 20 plates of food that she has sitting in a cooler for over a week. chicken should not be in a fridge longer than 7 days.(7 days is what the health dept. told me when I called with my concern) When I explained I was unhappy with the service ( my mother was doing dishes during our wedding reception due to the LACK of service we had) the owners response was to PUNCH A TABLE and start SCREAMING at me saying how disrespectful I was and refused to give me my money back. I have spoken with others about this situation and they say this is common and that she has a temper, loses things such as money and then says you didn't pay for it... which I never got a receipt for the first half of the bill I paid for... she "didn't have it", she also says that she never received a phone call when she really just forgets to call people back. While sitting with her disucssing the menu she had to have a clock that would tell her what time it was EVERY 15 minutes if this gives you any clue to the type of organizational skills she has... So please those that are looking for great food and service with a smile---this is NOT DEFINITELY NOT the place for you --you will be screamed and yelled at and feel threaten bc she feels the need to punch and hit things around her!!!! The venue is affordable and well worth more, the lights and swing are such great picture points. The gazebo is a amazing ceremony location and lights up at night. They are always adding to, the bears are amazing and of course!! The chapel!! Is air conditioned and all decorated. The venue comes with a spot for dj and also a fire pit and tables. The more I talk to people, the more this name kept being brought up. Angie, you need Angie, Angie Anderson with Belle behind the Ball is who you need on your big day. Do not trust anyone but Angie. Thank you to everyone who recommended her because I don't know what I would have done without her. Angie has this cool, don't worry I will take care of it attitude and that is exactly what you need during this stressful process. She works with so many different vendors, knows everyone and can get you exactly what you want. We had to change our venue MONTHS before the big day. With Angie, it wasn't a problem. She had a backup list ready to go in case something like this happened. We had to set up our own tables. With Angie, it wasn't a problem. Her team brought my dreams to life. Everything was beyond perfect. My family is divorced and I knew there could be drama when the two families came together. I told Angie in advance and she was there, putting out fires, having my back, making sure MY DAY was exactly that, stress free and perfect. I also can't say enough about her assistants. They treated me like a princess. They were holding my flowers, train, anything I needed while making sure I was hydrated, laughing, every hair was in place, make up was flawless, the list goes on. The catering/serving staff (who work for the venue) we're incredibly rude and lazy. If you're planning to have an event here, be warned: they will leave all the used dishes/food on the tables until the end of the night when everyone leaves. Where is the button for 0 stars?

He was great to work with, has a website to enter songs etc and did an awesome job at our wedding on June 2, 2012. I can't count how many times I have heard that our DJ was amazing and it has only been a few weeks since the party. He takes seriously any do not play lists and doesn't use the cheesy wedding songs you would usually hear. He did a great job keeping the crowd going and was very professional. If you have a need for a DJ use him, he is great!
