They can understand English but even if they don't they want you to shout your order to them in your best Portuguese. They know what you want even before you open your month. And yes the açaí smooth is delicious. It's less sweet and more nuttier compared to the style they serve in the US. So I like it! All of the workers are monolingual, but I was happy to push myself and get my orders right.( I did make one of the counter clerks laugh when I said não sei.) If you eat at the counter, you'll rub elbows with locals as they enjoy a quick lunch. Tip 2: no food photos.
