Just found out some very upsetting news…read more.. I am disabled and live in Arizona. I am unable to travel. My mother passed two months ago and Brackett's handled everything, so I thought... Brackett Funeral Parlor in Brunswick Maine had the WRONG NAME Engraved onto a plaque for my Mother's vault! They never caught the mistake! It wasn't until the FUNERAL, two weeks later that it was caught by family in attendance! Then! They said well the last name is right and threw one hundred dollars at the bill, calling it good enough! Then! Rather than replacing the plaque with the CORRECT NAME, They buried MY MOTHER that way! I called today, as soon as i heard this news, and was treated like a nobody by the very RUDE funeral director, who not only didn't apologize for what they had done, but dismissed me by saying an adjustment to the bill was made. It is settled, in their opinion. When I asked why they never notified me of the mistake personally, (They had all my information) he scoffed and said that was my sister's job to tell me.... My mom will be gone two months tommorow. Maybe it doesn't matter to them, but it sure does to me. We have done business with Brackett's for generarions. I've never heard of such a thing before! They could have easily replaced this before her burial, after the funeral. This is disrespectful to my Mother, family and the absolute worse way to handle a mistake. This is unacceptable.

Stones and schools…read more The Riverview Cemetery is a lovely old graveyard that had it's beginning around 1800. It's located on the Androscoggin River and does indeed have some pleasant water views. Most of the gravestones are simple but there are some modest obelisks scattered around. For some odd reason the village schoolhouse was actually located within the boundaries of the graveyard and wasn't moved to another location until 1904. The land where the schoolhouse once stood were then sold off as gravesites. There are no more open sites for sale in the cemetery but there is a lovely, marble columbarium that has small spaces for urns that can be purchased. RIverview Cemetery is beautiful, peaceful and unique old graveyard. After all, how many people can say they went to school in a cemetery.

The 5 acre Riverview cemetery is undergoing a major upgrade which will create over two dozen new…read morelots. My family was there for the passing of a family member. Upon entering the funeral home for the wake, the staff member was located in her office the entire time on Facebook rather than holding the door or assisting the customer. At 7PM exactly she came out of her office and proceeded to grab the urn like a football and walk off. We still had 25 guests or so at the service. My wife was extremely upset at not getting to say goodbye personally to her family member. The staff member's excuse was that she had to be back at 9AM to go to the church for the service there. IT IS YOUR JOB TO DO THAT. The following day at the church, I approached the same staff member and asked if we could move the urn to a separate room so that my wife and some other family members could have one on one time. We were told that there was no room available in the church. I brought up 2 places and she said, No it can't be there. Finally another staff member, who only came for the church service stepped in and assisted me. He was very professional and assisted me the way I believe a funeral director should.
