I've had John doing my taxes for the last 8 years or so and have not once regretted it. I'm a retired USAF officer and have a couple rental properties; the depreciation tables/forms for the properties are too complicated for me but a routine process for him. And he takes care of all four levels of taxes I have to pay in Ohio: federal, state, school district, and RITA. Every month I update my income & expense data on an Excel spreadsheet I put together myself, based upon questions John asked me the first year. Then when my 1099R comes available online from the USAF in December, I download it and email it to John along with the Excel spreadsheet. I think I'm the first to get him my tax data each year and am always glad when that time comes around. I used to dread doing my taxes because of all frustrating hours and days I knew it would take. Now I just send the info off to John Hicks and wait for him to call to tell me to come sign so he can e-file. I tell all my friends and family about him, local and even out of state! My son is in WA state and John was happy to do his taxes, even though my son waited until the last minute to submit his tax data. John also sat down with an elderly widow friend of ours to discuss possible tax concerns without charging her anything. Now she & her daughter will be having John do their taxes this year because they were so impressed with John's knowledge and his kind, patient demeanor. Even from our initial phone conversation, David was very easy to talk to and super helpful to email me an itemized list of documents to organize my planning at the moment we spoke. As you can imagine having this info to start really provided me with the solid direction on where to start as the next of kin, amongst a family of 6 siblings and a host of secondary family members, for what was already a very sensitive emotional and financial situation. I think that it would also be helpful to know that David was kind enough to work with my limited schedule during my hometown visit, to provide a in-person consultation appointment with my family and I.
