Furniture Exchange sells new and used furniture in a large warehouse on Kirkstall Road (near…read moreWoodrup Cycles). Furniture is mainly of the office variety including desks, filing cabinets, swivel-chairs, shelving and desk tidies. There is an area at the front of the shop as you go in which features only new furniture as well as information brochures and other bits and bobs. The reception area is nearby where you should find a member of staff - on my visit a nice, friendly man who explained the layout of the place and left me free to browse. The warehouse area is pretty vast and organised into navigable corridors with plenty of furniture piles up in between. The bloke explained that furniture gets progressively 'more second-hand' towards the back of the shop - which is handy. And lo I found that the furniture began looking brand new and right at the back there were some items that had clearly been used a lot, but still had life left in them. The priced reflect the conditions, so cheaper pieces will be found at the back. This is a great place to find affordable furniture if you're starting up a small business or kitting out your own place to work from home. And in these times of tightened purse strings, who wouldn't put up with a few scratches here and there for a decent price?

Thankfully, I found this place, which as well as new, modern office furniture stocks a range of second hand professional equipment, so if you don't mind things looking a bit dated you can pick up good quality, functional furniture for a pretty good price. It's still not as cheap as somewhere like Poverty Aid, but it's a small price to pay to have an office space that isn't covered in stickers of Take That and the Beano.

One word describes this little find AMAZING!…read more From reclamations; old mahogoney furniture transformed into beautiful white or cream furniture with beautiful fabric newly laid on chair pads to little gifts for the home - I bought 2 bone china mugs for £7! The lady who owns this (Nell), is a real wizard and I'm sure will help transform your home or will help you find little gifts for your loved ones! I'm going back in January to get my TV stand painted!

I have to agree with one of Nell's earlier reviews (also now removed) from LL in Yeadon that did…read moreNOT recommended her in that they stated: "Nell Berrey comes across as a very pleasant if not a little over talkative woman to deal with but, as an review posted on this site which has now disappeared stated, she is impossible to contact if she doesn't want to talk to you." This has been very much the case with my dealings with her, in that she still owes me money for an item of furniture that she never provided. However, it took her months and months to confirm that she was not going to provide the item and now even longer for her to provide the refund. Just to confirm Nell is impossible to contact and does not respond to messages or letters when she owes money. As the earlier reviewer also stated, 'I regret not heeding the warning in the earlier review that has now disappeared. Was it removed by this site? Or was it removed by the reviewer after Nell sorted the problems she was having? If so would it be possible for Nell to sort out my problem?' I hope that she either catches up with her admin (if that is what it is and I would like to give her the benefit to believe this) and repays the funds she owes.

This place is a haven of beautiful furniture. I had a recent trip here with my Mum, after…read moreChristmas, and we ended up buying a hoard of items-they've just so many wonderful things! Basically, if you're after unique antique furniture, this is a must-visit shop for those fabulous writing desks, blanket boxes, retro lampshades and so on. I bought an absolutely gorgeous writing desk, which is part display cabinet, for only £60 and for an extra tenner they delivered it to my door. (Of course, I had to persuade the lads I live with to carry it upstairs, but they got paid in coffee and mince pies.) The staff were excellent, helping me to mark which items I wanted to buy, and even searching through a bag of keys to find the right one for my desk. They've a number of clothes as well, although typically I find them a little more hit and miss, but essentially if there's anything you need in the way of furnishings you should definitely visit here first. They've odds and ends as well, chimney pots, large doors, glassware, tables -you name it and you'll probably find it. Essentially, it's so cheap compared to quality new furniture and it's all in the name of charity. I'm so pleased with my purchases! Awesome.

Some of my best purchases have come from poverty aid, including my legendary purple velvet sofa, 1960's cage dressmakers mannequin, and no end of random kitchenwares! they have a really good furniture selection, absolutely loads of bric a brac, vintage items, clothes, books, records - you can find all sorts hidden away in there! The prices are great, they like to do some bartering and they now do delivery of any item to anywhere in leeds for £10. When I bought my sofa the 2 staff lifted it into my living room for me. Poverty Aid, I salute you! (And will be visiting very soon on a mission for a vintage wardrobe!)

What a house of wonder! Chase really isn't kidding when he says it sells everything, it really does…read moresell pretty much everything you might need for your home. From cleaning products, kitchen items, DIY bits and bobs, cheap snacks, cards and so much more - they've got it covered. If you're a keen shopper/browser it's a veritable treasure chest to explore. My particular favourite is the upstairs section. Here's where the items get slightly less bargainous and become a little higher end... They've beds, lamps and all other kinds of home furnishings in a range of styles. Faux-antique right through to the more modern sleek look. I bought an awesome 'telephone box' lamp for my room at home, which is so kitsch and delightful and only set me back £15. (I can imagine it costing a ton more in a vintage shop!) My Mum was particularly overjoyed with a red painted vase that she picked up as well, of which they had many different shades! So, there's plenty to get excited about, and not too pricey as well. However, all that glitters is not gold. I did come away having purchased a few oil reed scent dispensers (the pots of oils with the wooden reeds) and they simply don't work at all. They were only a pound each, but I can see why they were so cheap as they give off no scent at all! Even so, I'm pleased as punch with my lamp so that more than makes up for it!

It was the first time I'd been in a shop which I cannot categorize by what it sells, IT SELLS EVERYTHING !! From bleach to crisps, rugs to xbox games, they have almost everything under one roof. The only thing I can say lets it down is a lack of electrical goods like TV's but if you're looking for a pack of brass tacks and a birthday card for auntie Mabel this is a good place to start........ and if you're feeling tired you can nip upstairs and pretend you're testing a bed out :)
