My manager took me and another coworker here today for lunch, and I absolutely loved it at first glance. The view was great, the menu looked interesting and the prices were very reasonable, so I understandably had high hopes that it would be a fun lunch retreat. As you can see, however, it earned itself only three stars, and I have no other choice but to lay pretty much all the blame on my entree. I ordered the Spinach-Cheddar Quiche, which was served warm with a side salad. The quiche was just deplorable: the crust was soggy inside and out and the eggs were greasy, all of which combined for a real nasty texture. Despite all of the other great things I think this place has going for it, this quiche single-handedly bumped them from 4 to 3 stars for me; I ate as much as I could, but there was no way I was going to finish it without booting afterward. The side salad was actually good; with arugla and blue cheese crumbles (in addition to the fact that my quiche was nearly inedible), I finished the whole thing. I can appreciate that I may have just ordered the wrong thing; quiche is perhaps not a completely fair dish upon which to judge the entire restaurant. I plan on going back, so when I do (and if my next dish is better), I will update my rating; my coworkers seemed not to have any problems with their dishes, and everything else about this place makes me want to give them 4 stars, so only time will tell if I can overcome my quiche experience and bump up their rating. read more

Nice atmosphere overlooking the highway with an ocean view. You walk up and order your food and they bring it to the table. I ordered a wrap, BLTT (bacon, turkey, lettuce tomato) in a wrap. Wish the wrap had been warmed. Lee ordered the tuna sandwich and Joanna ordered a Breeze salad. Service was fast and friendly, the drinks (bloody mary) was $3.00\. Dreadful. Ordered the short rib hash and eggs Benedict. The short rib came out lukewarm, with hotspots in it, having being microwaved and served with OLD & COLD mashed up roast potatoes. It was supposed to be served with horseradish ...it wasn't. Either way nothing could have possibly helped this flavorless dish. The eggs Benedict was served with an equally flavorless hollandaise, on a dried up English muffin. Returned the short rib & had our money refunded, then shared the mediocre Benedict. The location is prime. I can't understand how ANYONE can get breakfast so so wrong. Update..... The owner contacted me, and offered to refund us our money as well as send us a gift card. We will return and hopefully be able to have a positive experience. read more

Three stars on the food, 1-2 stars on the service, er what service? Everything is self serve and you have to ask where things are before serving yourself. Good reasonable food; breakfast turkey sausage is good, homestyle potatoes are good with the feta. Their beverage line is blocked by tables and difficult to maneuver to, and yes, self serve. They bring your food to your table, but that's about it for service; I think the bad wait staff from Pacifica Del Mar come here to roost. One of my favorite lunch spots in Del Mar. Everything is fresh and very tasty, the patio has a great view of everything! Fun staff, great fresh food I dont mind the sorta self service, but it is not that hard to walk over and get a refill on their amazing iced tea, that way I always have a full glass and never have to wait. I've only been once, but it was enough to get me to want to go back, many, many, many times. I got their salmon wrap without rice, cuz I didn't feel like getting too full off carbs. I meant to ask for a side salad instead of the chips, but forgot. It came out and I thought, holy crap, I won't be able to eat that. It was HUGE and the yam chips took up the rest of the plate. As HUGE as it was, I ended up eating the whole thing because it was THAT good. I ate a lot that afternoon, because I almost finished off the chips, so much for not getting full. It was a very reasonably priced lunch with an excellent view of the ocean. It was a sunny day, so I basked in the sunlight and chatted with my friends for a while. Who doesn't love anything in Del Mar? Amazing local breakfast spot! The view was absolutely gorgeous, service was perfect and omelet was ideal! My boyfriend had the French toast and loved it. I think next time I will have to have the oatmeal because it looked wonderful. We had a late breakfast 'meeting' with a friend of my boyfriends aunt and it was a great place to relax and enjoy our morning. I actually really loved the idea of the self serve coffee bar because it kept the patio at more of a relaxed feel. I took a look at the lunch menu and would definitely come back to try one of their beautiful salads. I also caught a glimpse of their sweet potato chips which looked decedent! This cafe is the daughter of the Pacifica Del Mar Restaurant. Serving only breakfast and lunch you'll find a great selection of soups, salads and sandwiches bistro style and always very fresh. A great setting with a view of the ocean makes it a very happy experience. The cafe is located mid-level in the upscale Del Mar Plaza in quaint old-town Del Mar. Came here for an afternoon beer because they allowed dogs on their patio. Bad all the way around. Six people on staff that stood around with their thumbs up their asses. Self-serve.....odd. Ordered tacos and 2 drinks - $27 at the counter. Ok....we get served part of someone else's order. The table next to us got their entrees 5 minutes apart and the chick that rung us up appeared to be intoxicated. They don't serve you, they set your drinks on the bar and yell them out, so no reason to pay so much....$8 for a weak jack and Sierra mist. The order of $12 fish tacos were worth about $3. Wow I really liked this place. Went here with my wife and parents yesterday for some lunch. There was a good crowd, but we grabbed a table pretty quickly. The prices were very fair for the food and view. I had the turker burger with green chili peppers and it was very tasty. I liked the sweet potato chips too. My wife had the BLTTA (BLT + turkey + avocado) wrap and said it was great. Free parking at the plaza for 2 hours with validation, which we got at the restaurant. I think we'll be coming back here soon, but next time we'll bring our little dog. read more

Ohhhh.....so good breakfast and lunch. Cinnamon Brioche French Toast. Thai Chicken Wrap....hmmmmm. From $5-13 with some coffee, you overlook the ocean, what a beautiful breakfast. It's a titch pricey but they give enough food. You can bring your dogs to come and sit with you. I don't quite want to give 5 stars because you won't be BLOWN away but I have been here MANY times, and they've ALWAYS been consistent. Perfect for a late breakfast. read more

I had a really, really great orange/ginger iced tea!!! Oh yeah and the thai chicken wrap was also good, but it needed some more peanut sauce. Hot damn I keep thinking of that perfect iced tea. My friend had the passionfruit iced tea but it just wasn't as memorable. But for reals, this place is good. I came across it wandering through the Del Mar area. Mind the ordering process: grab a menu, stand in line, grab your drinks and a number, sit and wait. It was peak lunch time and the wait was long, but other than that i had an enjoyable lunch. This is such a special place - I had the breeze oatmeal - which was the best oatmeal I've ever had - so creamy and comforting, and the golden raisins, sun-dried cherries, and macademia nuts were just perfect with it. I am surprised that this place is very affordable. Such an ambiance! I had the most perfect seat at a pretty cafe table and a to die-for view of del Mar and the Ocean. There is plenty of outdoor seating and when you order food, you can get your parking validated - the first hour is free. A co-worker wanted to take us out for "good food" at lunch today and he highly recommended the Pacifica Breeze Cafe. The location is great, it's near the beach; however, it was a little chilly because it was overcast and only outside seating was available, with no heaters. This place is unable to handle "large parties" at lunch; large parties being a group 6 people. Service is a bit off. After ordering our meal, I requested an itemized receipt for my expense report and the cashier said he would give it to me later if I reminded him when my food was delivered. Our food was delivered, I inquired about my receipt, and nada. After we consumed our meal, I had to return to the register and that was when I got my receipt. Though food is delivered to your table, they don't serve your beverages. You have to stand in another line, around the corner from where you place your order, to pick up your beverage. We decided to grab some dessert after lunch and ordered a pecan pie and gelato "to go." Again, we asked for an itemized receipt and the cashier couldn't give it to us right away. It is the strangest thing. They served the pie on a ceramic plate and had to remind them that it was "to go" and I was asked if I needed their help in having my gelato served... My response? "Yes, please, that would be FABULOUS!" I mean, why else was I standing there waiting anxiously for my dessert? I AM the "DESSERT LOVER LIKE NO OTHER." The food was edible; it was neither fantastic nor terrible. It definitely wasn't worth the 15 minute drive or the terrible service. Another reason why a star is removed? Why Pacifica is a definite favorite: - Relaxed (order at the counter) atmosphere in Del Mar and not stuffy! - Great food for less than $10. We had the breakfast burrito, which had an interesting spin of mashed potatoes and bacon. My bf would have loved it more if it had more cheese. The view was gorgeous. The food was pretty good. I had the thai chicken wrap which came with interesting yam chips (I've never had those before). I wasn't a fan of the yam chips. A table over from me the guy there was talking about how much he loves to come to this place. If I lived there I would be there all the time. I could have hung out there all day. I went there at 2:30 for lunch so I'm sure you'll have to get there early to save the table you want and then go order food. Del Mar was absolutely gorgeous. Friends were excited to take us to this cafe. What a disappointment. 4 of us at the table. 2 of us got our meals 20 mins prior to ours arriving(who were first timers). When my mother's bagel and lox finally came (after our friends had already finished they're meal) ONLY THE LOX came out. No bagel or cream cheese. Which we had to ask for it twice with substantial waiting in btwn pleasantly asking for her items. When she finally did get her full order all of us had finished. The guests who were initially so excited to take us here asked our server to reimburse my mother the cost of her order. The server asked someone in charge about our nicely asked request only to come back to tell us that since the order was so big they were not going to take off the charge for bagel and lox. Outrageous to not knock off this inexpensive item given the epic meal fail. My friends were very embarrassed at the lack of customer service. We were all looking forward to dining at this spot but in the end were profoundly let down. Won't be back despite the great view. Would recommend going elsewhere to others. read more

Looking to Yelp this morning to help me find a good breakfast place that was dog friendly, chose to try it out. Arrived around 11 a.m., there were a few tables free on patio but chairs were at a premium and I had to go around asking people if they were using their chairs, to drag it over to a table. You have to go inside to order but that was a breeze. Staff very friendly. Coffee was great. I ordered the sweet salmon hash, and my oh my, it was sooo good. I will definitely be back. The view is amazing too and after your meal, walk along the beautiful beach. read more

Great place for a relaxing, comfortable week-end brunch. I planned to go for brunch but breakfast ends at 12 noon on Sundays so I had lunch instead. I tried the salmon wrap and lamb gyro, both of which were pretty good. The salmon wrap was refreshing but a bit fishy so I wouldn't recommend it if you weren't in the mood for fish. The lamb gyro was one of the better I have had but the pita bread crumbled a bit too much. They have great coffee and delicious scones but when I go back next time, I will pass on the pumpkin bread. It tasted a bit old. The view of Del Mar and the nearby shops at a very homey and comfortable feel. Definitely recommend it especially with the overly helpful and accommodating staff. read more

Super Yummy: The salmon hash with poached eggs, Deeeelishous! My husband ordered that while I ordered the oatmeal. Soo glad we have this preset agreement to split our food in half and share because his was much tastier. I had the Oatmeal it's tasty but sort of goopy and creamy looking. It has cinnamon in it. Big goopy bowl of oatmeal. I'm not crazy about oatmeal that's goopy. I like oatmeal's consistency to be oaty and fresh versus goopy. Ok, I'll stop hating on the Oatmeal now. I look forward to trying other things on the menu from this adorbs cafe! read more

Great Del Mar Lunch spot! If you're looking for a light lunch spot with ocean views.... well duh go to Breeze cafe! I work in Del Mar so it has become the regular spot for me and many other del martians.. The quality of food is very good for the cost and the view. The have lots of healthy options and some great burgers. I normally get the Thai chicken wrap.. They do have a full bar there if you're feeling like getting tipsy before 5pm, you can start here. No complaints here and if you work around the plaza, they give you a little discount. Great service, fun staff, and.... the ocean view. It's Sean approved for sure! read more

This place made me a believer in meat loaf. Seriously, it's an incredible one... and their grilled cheese (with bacon added, and chipotle Tabasco sauce)... and the Cobb salad... and the oriental chicken salad... and the yam chips! This place is delicious, and--having moved away--I miss it greatly. My colleagues and I ate lunch at Pacifica Breeze every other day. This is the perfect brunh place!! In Del Mar I feel finding quality brunch can sometimes pose a challenge but this place is delicious!! It's casual, outdoorsy, and has a gorgeous view down 15th street to the ocean. It's no fuss, always tasty, and super relaxed. If it's a breakfast mood kinda day I have to reccomend my favorite, the breeze huevos(amazing) as well as the breeze benedict. They put their name on both so you know they have to be good :p I also frequent the lunch menu and my two favorite things, hands down, are the mulligatawny soup and the oriental chicken salad. Both have chicken in them which has amazing flavor and is super juicy and not sparce. I've stolen bites of my bf's b.l.t.t.a. wrap which is amazing as well; get a side of their ranch to dip in and your golden. And last but not least the mimosas and bloody marys are both tasty as well... Pick your poison ;) read more
