If you took all the radio stations in the United States and lined them up, KONG would come out on top. It's a combination of seasoned DJ's and excellent management establishing a play list that mixes Top 40, Hip Hop, Hawaiian, Country, Reggae, Alternative, and Latino 24/7. We listen to it on Alexa by telling her: "Play K, O, N, G , 93.5 FM." Or on our phones play live right off the website after a Google search for KONG FM Kauai. We never get tired of listening to KONG and DJ Wiley cracks me up with some of his local announcements and guest interviews. Funny guy who does not intend to be funny. read more

Always listen to Kong when visiting Kaui. You get all the local news & going on's around town. Ron is the best too, he helped us find our lost wedding by announcing it on the radio when we emailed him! (THANK YOU RON!!) They play a pretty good mix of local & top 40 hits, mostly local a lot of the time, which I like for keeping my island vibe going while on vacay :) "Lock it in, & rip the knob off" classic Kong! read more

Kong gives you the best island info. Ron Wiley in the morning helped us get the word out on air, when we lost a ring on the beach! Kong all day long! read more

They also announce when lost animals are found. Kauai is a small island where everybody knows everybody, and you totally get that intimate vibe from this station. The station is run by volunteers and supported y donations and the aforementioned local sponsors. The music is good too. A lot of times it's Hawaiian music, but there's also a blues hour, a mixtape show, and some other stuff. They play music that features chickens lol. (If you didn't know, Kauai is overrun with chickens. It's like pigeons in US cities. but chickens. instead of pigeons.)

Garden Island Newspaper

I love local journalism, and The Garden Island is a great example of why. In one edition of the…read morepaper I got a very substantive account of the mayor's recent address on the state of the county, including budgetary proposals for a new helicopter and new jobs in the public works department; an account of various local spring break events and local business doings; and another substantive story on wildfire mitigation. This was padded out by a bunch of New York Times and other syndications, but it's really not bad for an island whose entire population is smaller than my hometown -- and I don't know what the substitute would be if it didn't exist. Support The Garden Island!

Yes, she spells it will a "3." Jul3a has received to Emmy awards for her work in producing videos. She is one of Kauai's best kept secrets! She taught the first class with incredible knowledge and competence and she did not get annoyed at our questions. I am in awe of her talent...... J, just "J," is the fantastic lead of the whole station. J is so enthusiastic and loves what he does at the station. J has the island vibe of aloha and is not pretentious at all. He actually let my kids check out his office and took time to answer all of their questions.....I mean: all of their questions. I could tell he was a former teacher right away. Michelle is the office manager, who also teaches ballet and gymnastics on her time off. Michelle is so calming and talks story with everyone who comes into the office- not stuffy or self important- she is very down to earth and sweet. Kianoa films a majority of the Community Camera and Open Mic shows. He is creative, energetic and accommodating. Kainoa is an all-round honest, authentic and talented young man. I am truly impressed with Ho'ike and blessed with all that they supply to the island of Kauai. Their first priority is: FREE SPEECH!
