First time at Ushuaïa this past Tuesday to catch one of my all time favorite artists, Calvin…read moreHarris! Well worth the price of admission to hear him play all his hits!
I've read a lot online about the experience here so I think it helped me manage expectations a bit. Whenever it's a big name DJ, it's gonna be packed, and it sure was. We got there just before 8pm, and there was virtually no line to get in.
Once inside, it's like you are at a smaller stage at a festival like Coachella. Lots of lights, leds, lasers, the production value is pretty solid. Sound quality is great in the front/middle but towards the back it's a noticeable difference.
We spent the first hour of the set in the middle of the crowd, and you feel like you are packed like a sardine. Not much room to dance and people on top of one another. They say if you want to get a good spot at the front, get there early but once you have to go to the bathroom or grab another drink, it's gonna be a whole excursion just to get back to your spot.
The last half of the set, we went to the upstairs bars in the back. While it's mostly an obstructed view of the stage, there's plenty of room to dance and quick access to bars and bathrooms.
For drinks, it was like $26 euro for a tequila soda, which is on par with what I've paid at any Vegas club.
Overall, great experience due to the fact it was Calvin. The outdoor setting makes for a fun experience and I wouldn't hesitate to come back to see an artist that I'm a huge fan of.
