This 7-11 is full of flowers and a man shot a rabbit in aisle one but the slurpee machine still burps out flavors.

The fried chicken was awesome! My husband had the roast beef poboy and he said it was fantastic. We'll definitely return here to eat. I wish I could give 10 stars.

Hermon is one of those small-town spots that really sticks with you. It's a little general store that also serves food, but the flavors are big and the hospitality is even bigger. I ordered the chicken gizzards with Cajun rice and fried okra, and it honestly took me straight back to growing up in the country. Everything had that real, home-cooked, seasoned-right kind of taste that's hard to find anymore. What I really loved too was the ambiance--it's small and nostalgic in a way that almost reminds you of an old-school soda pop top. It just has that vintage, simple, slow-down-and-enjoy-it feel that you don't get much anymore. I came out here based on a recommendation, and it was definitely worth the drive and the wait. The lady working was super friendly and helpful--she suggested what to try, walked me through the menu, and made sure I really got to experience the food instead of just rushing through a meal. If you're ever out that way in the middle of nowhere, it's absolutely worth stopping by Brooks General Store. Good food, good people, and just an all-around solid, down-to-earth experience.
