I decided to take another chance and buy a decent watermelon and went into Farrell's today to purchase one. I waited at the cash register for five minutes waiting for somebody to show up. If somebody had been dishonest, they could've come and literally robbed the whole store and the person minding the store would never have had a clue. In addition, literally every time that I have gone into the store in the last six years, I have never gotten personal attention from a cashier if they're there, but they are always talking on the phone and ringing you up as they are talking on the phone. This is more than rude. I like to support local businesses, but obviously Fertell's thinks that they don't need to really do anything for their Okeechobee base.

This is an older, small Publix that is decent for a small town. It is well kept up and they have a…read morelot of nice staff members and nice managers. The deli/hot bar area could use a lot more help though; there are almost always lines there and not enough help to slice deli meat, make sandwiches and/or cook the chickens and hot bar area items, let alone enough help serving them. I think they should do smaller batches of the hot bar items, more frequently to keep items fresher and not overcooked. That area is often neglected with either not much of a selection, especially after 5 pm, and/or overcooked dishes that have been on the hot bar too long; and usually there is no service person dedicated to serving just the hot food bar customers in that area; they seem short-staffed with oblivious help in the fryer area focused more on cooking chicken tenders (used mostly in the deli sandwich making area) and chicken pieces for boxes to put out. They are more often than not out of the Greenwise natural roasted chickens after 5. And regular roasted chickens are low too. But I don't care for the roasted chickens that a lot of fluid solution injected into them. So I go without unless they have the Greenwise more natural type roasted chickens. They have a decent produce selection, but are lacking some of my favorite gourmet cheeses and other gourmet products that are available at most Publix locations. But they have a lot of items that aren't going to be found at Winn Dixie or Walmart. They are open 7-10 M-Sat and until 9 on Sunday except on holidays.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable at every station I encountered. Inside the market there was an area that served cooked Mexican style foods. While retail often s teams about the importance of "location, location, location," wholesale distribution to the trades is definitely more specialized and they are not reliant on people coming in to browse and perhaps impulse buy. This location of Johnstone Supply also allows HVAC contractors to get the parts they need without traveling to a bigger city like West Palm Beach to get the equipment they need to "keep Florida cool." The staff here were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The parking lot is a bit small and while I was there a tractor trailer was blocking the entrance on the one side. No, big deal, I just pulled in the other entrance. If you are an HVAC professional, this Johnstone Supply is a great option. Again, with them being located in Fort Pierce and you are doing a job here or in one of the towns closer by, this location can save you a trip to West Palm Beach (which would save you about an hour each way in travel). I would definitely recommend here.
