The Overgate is the larger of the two main shopping centres in Dundee, with the other being the…read moreWellgate across town. It offers some of the city's larger shops, hosting the likes of Debenhams, Primark, New Look and Topshop. Half of the mall is really bright and airy as there are windows running down the entire wall. It kinda reminded me of an airport (but nicer, of course). There is parking but we didn't use it. From what I've heard it is pretty expensive. We used Gellatly Street which was £8 for 24 hours. Considering the Overgate charges something similar to this for 5 hours and closes overnight, it looks like we made the right call to go somewhere else. The public toilets in the mall are clean and well serviced so we're all good there. I would definitely recommend coming here instead of the Wellgate - the Wellgate is a horrible, dark dungeon.

Like the Wellgate centre that I recently reviewed, the Overgate in Dundee has the famous big name…read moreshops, the Santas grotto at Christmas and the places to eat and drink but what this shopping centre lacks is the atmosphere of the Wellgate. It may be because it is a brand new shopping centre and therefore lacks some of what makes the Wellgate so good but whatever it is there is just something missing from the whole experience of shopping here. That said it does have some wonderful shops such as Sports world, Gap and baby Gap, The Gadget shop, Debenhams and the amazing Lush shop which sells all the wild and wacky soaps and lotions and potions you could imagine. You can smell the wondeful scents coming from the Lush store throughout the building and they are rivalled only by the aroma from the Starbucks coffee shop on the same floor. If you are in Dundee then you must visit here as well as the Wellgate, they both have something different to offer.

River Island Clothing Co

I first started shopping in River Island when I was about 14 years old. Back then all I could…read moreafford to buy from this store was clothes from the sale rail! But now I am older with more money I quite often buy my clothes from here, not only is it a stylish shop with clothes of high quality but it is also a pleasant experience to shop there. River Island doesn't follow fashion as such as much as other high street stores. By this I mean their clothes have quite a classic look and every year they will stock similar clothes to the year before. Their clothes are generally smart looking, even their casual range is more like smart-casual. They like their glitter and sparkle at River Island, and they will often include glitter, sequins, diamonte and jewels on all types of clothes and accessories. I love the coats and jackets at River Island, I usually buy a new winter coat from there every year as a treat for myself. They have particularly nice hooded coats which I love. The general colour scheme instore is white walls and floors with black panelling and furniture, and bright white lights. All stores therefore have quite an open, fresh and airy look, which is simple but at the same time doesn't distract you from the clothes and therefore enables you to find what you are looking for more easily. Their music is played quite loud in the shop can be a little bit annoying when you are trying to speak to someone and you only have a quiet voice like I do!

Used to be the store of the minute but somehow it has become really dated and tacky in my book…read more Even the lighting in the store is harsh and unyeilding and it is priced similarly with shops like Zara where the quality and style means that it should be a lot cheaper. I don't like River Island now - men or woman's section. The shoe range is probably the best bit about the store and when I think about it the boots there are usually lovely but for clothes alone I feel its just a bit cheap and nasty especially the party/occasionwear. The store is next to lots of others so probably ok if you are trying to find something in particular. Staff are always friendly and polite and accessories are sometimes ok.

Ok, so I literally JUST got back from this Tescos in Dundee (yes I went all the way to Dundee) and…read moreI have to say that this Tescos is SOOOOOOO much better then the one in St. Andrews. So the places isn't as nice as Waitrose (which I happen to personally really like) but it gets the job done and it has so much more selection then the one in my town! I just bough so much food there. They have a larger selection of veg, sauces, spirts, foods from around the world and the prices are much cheaper then they are in St. Andrews. Heck there is even a clothing part of the store... I didn't know Tescos sold clothing! AHHH!! They have a good selection of Scottish beers in this store (I brought home 5 new ones to try! VERY EXCITING) though I was a little disappointed that they didn't have any Paulner. They also had the supper large tub of Marmite that they don't sell at the Tescos in St. Andrews and I was in HEAVEN!!! MARMITE HOW I LOVE THEE LET ME COUNT THE WAYS! I even found some soba (one of my favourite things to order when I am at a Japanese restaurant in SF). ***AND EVERYTHING WAS SOO MUCH CHEAPER*** Screw the St. Andrews Tescos, what a freaking conspiracy. I have been to some better markets in the states and some great Waitroses in London but for right now this is the best I have found in Fife so 5 stars...

This, by far, the larger of the two Tesco's directly in the city centre. Located down on Riverside…read moreDrive, it's slightly more awkward to get to than it's High Street counterpart but in my opinion, worth going to. It's HUGE and features a great selection of money-saving deals. A student's heaven. It also features a home section, a clothes section and even an electrical section. You'll be able to get almost everything you need. There's a large carpark for parking however, it's not that far should you decide to walk.
