I don't know why anyone would go in here when there are 3 far superior jewellers on the high…read morestreet. Every time I go in the staff give me attitude. It is as if they don't want my business! The first time the woman just stared at me and flat out ignored me when I spoke to her, and then gave me attitude when I said I would take my business elsewhere. The second time when I enquired about scrap gold prices, she was rude when I asked for her prices and then didn't listen to me when I disclosed the weight of my item. Another time I enquired about a jewellery repair. Stephen Allan said a complete restoration could not be done, and quoted me £20 for a partial improvement, which would take about a week. This seemed expensive considering it was only a gold ring with scratches. I took it over the road to 'To Have & To Hold'. The man there is much friendlier. He fully restored the ring in 15 minutes for £10, so I cannot recommend him more- Stephen Allan is simply incompetent and clearly a rip off. Whatever my jewellery needs, I always visit 'To Have & To Hold', 'Harrisons' or 'Nymans', which I have found all to be far more professional, friendly and competitive with their prices.

I love it! It's taken the pain of losing Woolworths in the High Street. This shop is on Woolies former site...
