Attended a lecture on snakes here and was able to pet various live snakes! A lovely little museum and, for lack of a better term, "mini zoo." Pretty grounds, walking trails, a dog park. You can make a day of visiting Oxbow and the Infantry Museum, which is basically across the street. Thankful for the work they're doing here and to have this gem in our community. read more

I had to take the kiddos to explore Columbus,GA. Happy to have found this place for the kids and us adults as well. The kids had tons of fun seeing the snakes, alligators, turtles, fishes and other animals as well. The young lady at the front desk was very friendly and informative about the programs that they'll have in the near future. They have little stations for the kids to interact with around the center. We met another young lady who took the time to talk to us. It was nice of her to stay back and talk to the kids about the modeled dam. Thank you for being professional and courteous to us. Admission is donation at least $5 or whatever you can do. Sanitizer station at every entrance and exits ( I love that ) thank you for caring about our health. Restrooms were clean They have souvenirs and other things that you can purchase at the front of the building. If you're vaccinated you don't have to wear a mask but if you want to wear a mask you can. Some employees wore masks and some didn't. It wasn't crowded at all and we got there around 1ish. Which was great for us because we had 7 kids to look after :) Plenty of parking but very few are in the shade. Not sure if you're able to bring your own food but it is a nice spot to do a picnic. I would highly recommend this place for others to experience!! If and when we come back, we'll definitely visit here again!! read more

This place has expanded since I was here last. Some very wise SPLOST funding has paved the way for a really nice educational facility for the community. Clean and spacious, with an eye on keeping things "green," they have aquariums, displays, classroom space, event space... What a resource! Staff was super-friendly. They welcomed Georgia Lakes Society with open arms and were extending every courtesy to help us with our regional conference. I'm glad to have met them. And I look forward to visiting again. This place has something for every age group! Step stools for kids, in-depth descriptions and infographics for adults. Nice paved walking paths with beautiful bird viewing area. Bathrooms were clean. The well-maintained building, walkways, and habits made for an enjoyable time. The staff was kind and informative. Cannot wait to go back! read more

Great learning place for kids and even adults! Surprised this place is free! They had alligators, reindeer, raccoons etc and even had some other water animals. Nice place to bring a picnic for after for the scenery as well. read more

Such a cool place for kids. They have an awesome learning center, many types of reptiles and the bird exhibit. They also have a tree top walk and a dog park as well as a live beehive and place for kids to color and read books. It's d definitely a cool fun educational inexpensive way to entertain the whole family. All they ask of for a donation which goes to food for the animals and building more exhibits. One of the best places to enjoy the outdoors. They have a wonderfully interesting learning center. There are many kinds of reptiles and a bird exhibit. There is a tree top walk, but my guy and I did not go on it...because we're cautious people... They also have a huge dog park and lengthy nature trails that look as though they've always been there. Beautiful and peaceful place that was not at all crowded on Saturday around 2 PM. Nice and safe place to go and think and enjoy God's creation. We'll be visiting more often. Really good for what little they have. Only took about 20 minutes to see everything. The displays they do have are really good in detail and the bee keeper was real knowledgeable. Would really like to see them expand it more. read more

Disappointed! My children were very disappointed. We had heard great things, but it is a super small center with few exhibits. They recommend $5 donation but for what is there, it should be less. Doubt we will return since it only took maybe 15 total minutes of our time. read more
