Pepe Pe is a great ice cream shop that caters to the local organic community. All ingredients are farmed locally with seasonal varieties along with standard favorites. Located just down the street this shop is our go to favorite after dinner on Saturday nights. While a little pricy, it's really worth it. read more

I guess I'll be the first 3 star rating. Sorry guys, this may be a matter of personal taste and open to critique, but I wasn't blown out of the water and I certainly didn't shriek "O WOW" when I had it. It was simply very good ice cream in a great setting. The store is very nice- this is an adorable little center in Wrightstown. There are plenty of picnic benches set up in a manicured area that is great for kids and dogs. Inside there is definitely a homey, welcoming atmosphere. The owner takes a great deal of local pride and it shows: you can get local coffee, soaps, and other handicrafts. Now, to the ice cream. It is good. Not fantastic, not overwhelming, but just plain good. I tried the expresso which was a rich coffee flavor but not enough to satisfy my coffee tastes. I did the coconut chocolate chip mix, which was filled with delicious fresh coconut strands, and the cashew caramel turtle. The caramel was lovely, the cashews fresh and tasty. However, the actual ice cream wasn't spot on. The presentation, to start, was more like gelato than ice cream. While creamy, the texture was more of an ice milk than a real ice cream. The flavor options were exceptional: aside from the three types of vanilla you had a "merlot" as well as a honey lavender. Topping choices were extensive and unique. However, I was completely disappointed in my "hot fudge." It was chocolate sauce. I hate warm chocolate syrup that melts my ice cream as fast as I can eat it. My husband loved his dark chocolate chips. Next time the chocolate covered waffle bits will be my topping of choice. I can see why this ice cream shoppe gets a loyal following. Nice country store feel for locally sourced ice cream studio. Super friendly and informative people. When I asked the difference between the Vanillas - Madagascar, Tahitian, and another exotic island label, I was told that the most "vanilla"-flavor was the Madagascar version, while the others were either too light in flavor or more of a marshmallow sentiment. Went African Isle with a scoop of Blueberry Lemon. Creamy texture, full blown taste bud involvement. Instant smiles and satisfaction. Clearly, a labor of love expressed in imaginative combinations and high quality execution, wrapped up in a easy to miss village ambiance shop. The road sign is too small, so unless you know it's there, or have visited Carousel Gardens for other reasons, very easy to miss. Worth finding. My favorite ice cream of all time used to be sold and made on-the-spot once a month at the nearby Newtown Amish market. However, it was so decadently rich it upset your tummy if you ate more than, say, half a pint. Alas, some folks complained so they quit offering it. oWowCow's offerings are almost as good, but nowhere as rich, so you can go hammer down and eat all you want. Ingredients are, where possible, local and virtually organic, with none of the funny additives found in many other ice creams. They offer something like a couple dozen choices, several of which keep changing and some that sound zany until you try them and find they are downright yummy. As they're always experimenting, there's invariably one or two completely new flavors on any given day. The downside is that the pickled onion bourbon cream you loved last week might never appear again. Ice cream is offered in cones and sealed/open containers -- or in banana splits, sundaes and milkshakes. They also have coffee machines, soda, cookies and other goodies to lay waste to your waistline. There's some indoor and outdoor seating, which is generally adequate as folks tend not to tarry. Somebody commented they would add a star to their rating after the decor was completed. Forget it. I met the owner once -- not quite an old hippie, but you get the idea -- and he's a fanatic about ice cream and its ingredients. I'd bet my house that nearly every possible cent he has goes into product, and the low-rent location, homebrew "decor," cheap furnishings and unfinished website will probably remain unchanged as long he's alive. read more

This place is such a treasure! I had the lime-cilantro ice cream with the black currant sorbet (great combination, try it) and it blew my mind. The ice cream was so creamy you could almost taste little delicious curds of cream. The sorbet was a perfect blend of tangy, sweet, and fragrant. I would go back in a heartbeat and bring all of my friends! I actually like this place better than Bent Spoon in Princeton. Yum! This is our go to place for a special treat. They have all the classic flavors( umm-THREE types of vanilla!) plus more gourmet/ adventurous flavors to please everyone. The texture and quality of the ice cream is stellar. And they are very helpful with little kids. One major draw back is their indoor seating. My 4 year old nephew was happily enjoying his ice cream but the only chair was a high metal stole w/ no back. I was freaked out he would follow of and crack his head open. When it comes to small ice cream shops, this is indeed as good as it gets. I don't live nearby but when I am in the New Hope/Lambertville area I am drawn like a magnet to this place(Lambertville location) After a wonderful meal nearby, I still could not help stopping by on the way home. The items sampled on this visit were: cashew caramel, chocolate, and lemon ginger. All were great but you really can't make a bad choice here. Along with using the best milk that this area has to offer, they craft it into flavors that you will not find elsewhere(and some that you will) For those who simply can't make up their mind, I recommend the 5 scoop sampler(for around $5) Free water is available. Finally got the chance to check out OwowCow and they did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and very meticulous in scooping and packaging the ice cream (I got it to go). Great selection of flavors - I had to just stand there for a few minutes deciding. After I ordered, I told them it was my first time in and they insisted that I try some samples, even though I had already made my selections. They put my ice cream in the freezer for me while I did a little taste testing. Very nice people. My husband and I were very happy with what we got - Tahitian Vanilla and Chocolate Mint Cookie for him and Toasted Coconut and Chocolate Salted Caramel Pecan for me. It was so good, we contemplated saving some for the next day, but while discussing that possibility we ate it all because it was just that good. We stopped in after a hot soccer game to cool off. This was my first visit to Owow Cow and now, certainly not my last. I don't seek out ice cream too often, but my family does so I wanted to take them here and check it out. Immediately, the place won me over by its use of local produce and local farm dairy. My son got his usual: Cookies and Cream, after which he remained silent while eating and the only way he could communicate was giving us a thumbs up. My husband and I were more overwhelmed by the choices so we got the 5 flavors for $5. This was a perfect way to sample the different ice creams. They were each perfect with either fresh fruits or chocolate and not too sweet or over-rich with cream. I very much hope this business does well and encourage everyone to give it a try. The generous portions are made with high-quality and often locally sourced ingredients which lead to spoonful after spoonful of delight in a cup. (Yes, they have cones and other items, but I just can't bring myself to get anything other than a cup of their amazing ice cream) The staff at this location are (in my experience) friendly and good at their job. They are willing to let you try as many of the flavors as you would like, offering suggestions on what to try next. They truly want you to have a great experience at OwowCow! Like other OwowCow locations (like in Lambertville, NJ), this location has a fun and inviting atmosphere. Plenty of seating, on everything from old stools to step ladders, make this a great place to come with your whole group of friends. No one, however, will judge you if you want to come by yourself so nobody will interrupt you while you indulge in the delicious goodness that is OwowCow ice cream. CONS There just isn't much to complain about here. Yeah, it isn't the cheapest ice cream out there - but this is no fast-food soft-serve either! The ice cream here is pretty good. The out perform Zebra Striped Whales, Goodnoes and Tanners by leap years. I honestly haven't had a flavor I disliked yet. Customer service is good. They have a good vibe in that they are a business in demand; meaning product moves. Where they fall short is pretty much the cash or check only aspect. Usually when I'm here I'm shopping at Organnons. I don't carry cash, and a check is something I just don't use. I don't like ATMs either. For me to go out to get ice cream is a rarity. I make a pretty good french styled ice cream at home with duck eggs and jersey milk (higher fat content). So it's unlikely I'm heading out of my way to get ice cream. So planning a trip to get ice cream thus planning to have cash on hand is rare and unlikely. My recommendation is only to accept credit/debit cards.Then you'll likely snag me aside while at Organnons for a treat. Other than that, the majority of the time it's "oh yea, the ice cream shop. They're pretty decent. Oh right they only accept cash or check.. there is an atm... yea... I hate atms..., I'll just wait until I get home to have some of whatever I have." read more

What happened to this place?! They cut the sizes in half. The new large is like the same size as the old small. I would have only cut the rating down to 4 for that, but quality is waaaaaaay down. I want to bathe in this ice cream! My mom and I agree that it's some of the best ice cream we've ever had. We each got a scoop of chocolate salted caramel pecan; my mom also got a scoop of mocha chip, and my second scoop was banana caramel. Everything is homemade and fresh. Wow. I had such a great time today with my family, ate some amazing ice cream and service was PHENOMENAL. Absolutely could not be more pleased... rode the carousel and the train. We came in only shortly after they opened and the two girls working were awesome. Very nice to my children and didn't mind giving samples. Both were hard at work the entire time. Hands down the best ice cream place in the area. We are long time customers and literally have a hard time eating any other ice cream now, as nothing else compares.
