They only have two outside tables. We tried grabbing lunch at 11:30; one open table outside. I let a group outpace me to the door, and they snagged the last available outside table. I said to the hostess that I was hoping to sit outside, too, and she said with a shrug that they have no more tables. No "we can grab you a drink while you wait" or anything. I can't fathom how a busy restaurant wouldn't squeeze in more tables outside during a pandemic, but I guess that's Wake Forest for you. According to the receipt, I had the bartender as our server. That might explain why his service was less than ideal. My guest ordered decaffeinated coffee as her beverage, and I ordered sweet tea. When he brought the sweet tea he brought her a glass of water and said they were brewing her a fresh pot of coffee. TEN MINUTES later he returned with the coffee and then took our food orders. Later in our meal my guest had to ask another server for beverage refills and a take out box because our server was rarely seen. As for the food. Once we placed our food order, it was brought to the table in a reasonable time. My guest ordered the chicken salad wrap with a side of macaroni salad and I ordered the BEE STING burger (burger covered in a hot sauce and honey mix) and fries. She enjoyed her wrap. I wasn't too impressed with the burger. The sauce was good as it had just enough heat but not overpowering the burger, but that was the only seasoning. Burger is also served with onions and lettuce, but no cheese or condiments. Would love to say I was impressed, but the slow service and the average burger didn't do it for me. read more

Since relocating to the area OTF has been our go to restaurant that has been consistently great. We order curbside a few time per month, but yesterday was my first time ordering the chicken stir fry and all I can say is WOW! I honestly was expecting it to be good but not that good. We have been to OTF numerous times now. The food is decent to good. It's expensive for the items, but usually is fresh and served in a timely manner. However, every time we have visited we get the same waiter and he's absolutely terrible. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt and try to be friendlier when they are clearly disgruntled. This guy was rude when I asked about daily specials, told me they had none, and then came back to say it was lasagna after walking away. He was agressive about us asking if they had side salads as well. For some reason he's always our waiter, and it's become a clear pattern he hates being in the service industry. Food is great. Wait policy is terrible. We were next to be seated after waiting over an hour at Strike and Barrel- wait time was longer than stated. We walked back over and figured we'd be seated fast. It was cold and they asked us to step outside (multiple times) even though we were very close to being seated. They need to either take limited reservations or call ahead reservations or make the wait more pleasant. For cold nights, I would recommend outdoor seating with heaters or a firepit with drink service. For warm nights, just covered outdoor seating. In addition, if you are next on the list, allow the customer to wait in the holding area. There is no way it is a fire hazard if the doors aren't being blocked. This used to be one of our favorite places but unfortunately the set up has turned us off. Many others walked out Sat evening with the same take-away. What a shame! OtF just to be a good place to eat,I haven't been to the place in a year or so and today I decided to go for lunch. I ordered a Tony's burger (medium /well) with a side of coleslaw and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. After the first bite into an old crumbly, still cold from the freezer bun and a really well!prepared burger patty that was so dry and tasteless, I was hopeful for the great looking cup of slaw to make up for it. Haven't been to Over the falls in years, since the pandemic we don't sit down to eat very often but feeling cooped up from the holidays we decided to have dinner out and it was a great experience, our server was so kind and patient with our daughter who is a very picky eater. We've been coming here since 2003 and their old location, was actually surprised a review wasn't here from when I first started using Yelp in 2010. Nice sandwiches, good pizza, and decent wings. I wish the wings had more choices and less sugary sauces would be my complaint about them. Their house made chips are great with the sandwiches. I've enjoyed their take on the club, French dip, and reuben. Honestly I'd be ecstatic if they put a bit more meat on the sandwiches. They're not stingy, just I like NY Deli style Rueben where the meat stack is thicker than the bread or sauerkraut and that's hard to fine. Ruebens are pretty rare in wake forest. read more

This place had the gall to tell me that they don't take reservations, that it would be at least 45 minutes just for seating at the bar, and there was a sign saying "indoor waiting isn't allowed". We've lived in Wake Forest for a year and a half and have been meaning to check out OTF since we were house shopping. Finally made good on it! Monday night and the place was hopping. We arrived for early dinner just as things started to pick up. The place has kind of an upscale sports bar feel to it. Not fancy but nice. Service was great and food was really good. I had the roast beef on pretzel roll and it was AMAZING! Even had some medium rare slices. REAL horseradish and au jus on the side. Sweet potato fries to round it out. My wife had the downtowner on focaccia and she said it was tasty but her fresh chips were over cooked and tasted burnt. She didn't send them back as the sandwich was plenty. I would have...
