Nice campground except no one wears masks. Their front door clearly states to enter you must have a mask on, yet the staff don't follow their own rules. This is especially disturbing since people from all over enter their doors and there is documented cases of COVID in Ouray. read more

This KOA is under new management, & doing a terrific job! Definitely deserve a shout out! Safe Covid procedures in place, escort to your camping spot; they have full hook ups, a restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating; music on weekends, as well as cabins & a real Tepee to rent. For a fee, they will deliver firewood to your site, as well as ice. Everything was clean, and cared for -- lots of trees & privacy. A great location, and beautiful camping. Excellent campground - very accommodating about switching sites - there are great secluded tent sites toward the back of the campsites - ask about them! The showers/restrooms are spotless and the campsite is pretty quiet. Jeeps and dual sport bikes are all over and fun to look at if you don't enjoy 4x4 activities. read more

Recently stayed here this weekend while on a CO motorcycle trip. We stayed in campsite 45 and there was plenty of room. Our campsite seemed to be at least 35 ft wide by 20 ft deep. The campground is very nice and located in a beautiful area that is local to many area attractions. The owners and operators (Dave & Deborah) were hands down some of the friendliest people and went above and beyond for their customers. Truly an amazing hide away that is local to The town of Ouray and a quick drive to Telluride. The restrooms and showers were great with tons of room in the shower units. I really want to personally thank Dave for going out of his way to make a once in a life motorcycle trip sincerely memorable. read more

I reserved a spot at this KOA in September '17 and another in December. I emailed and spoke with the owners and requested two spots next to each other. I received a response from the OWNER and she said that we were taken care of. When we arrived our spots were NOT adjacent and they said there's nothing they could do. Then they send some 80 year old security guard to take notes on how we're pissed off but we fit in one spot. Then they proceed to move our second unused spot as they please. I went to speak with them about how we still didn't have our adjoining spot and if they seemed content on renting whatever open space (out of 5 total) they had that I wanted my money back. They said that since we didn't keep coming back to the office to try and talk to them and said we fit in one that it's ok I just need to basically suck it up. Well that's what Yelp is for; letting other people not to plan a huge vacation months in advance at this KOA. This is by far the BEST KOA I've yet to stay in! I stayed in the Deluxe Cabin, which was super clean and the perfect size. The camp is under new ownership and there are tons of new changes happening, and they said even more to come in the future. I loved their hot tub and camp store too. They also have a heated teepee which I look forward to come back to! read more

We just spent 3 nights at this wonderful campground! So lucky to get a last minute reservation for Memorial Day weekend! Our first outing in our new motor home so double exciting. We found the owners to be very pleasant and anxious to make sure we had a great spot. Campgrounds very clean and well maintained! Just down the road a herd of elk on one side of the road and big horn sheep on the other side. We don't normally go on holiday weekends because we enjoy the quiet of the off season, for the most part not too noisey however, the people next to us seemed to think we would enjoy hearing their conversations and spoke and laughed loudly right up to curfew time. That was the only down side! We will definitely be back at a quieter time, love the trees around the sites, so many campgrounds are just parking lots! read more

My wife and I and small dog stayed in a Kamping Kabin next the ditch/creek. The creek noise was soothing and helped to keep things cool. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay at this KOA in Ouray. I recently spent 4 nights at this campground during peak season. This is by far the quietest campground I have ever stayed in. Quiet hours are definitely enforced. It is in a beautiful location, very well-maintained, the staff is extremely friendly, the store is well-stocked and they have tons of recycling bins. Would absolutely stay here again! read more

We loved it, our tent site was near an aspen grove. The showers are private. Employees were friendly and helpful. There was a bear in the middle of the night so do not leave food or garbage out. read more

Have been a long time visiter to Ouray and the KOA. Made reservations for the same spot we have stayed at 3 of the last 4 years in January for the last week of July. New owners came around in February or March and decided to change the spots that we were in to RV spots. We were assured we would still be able to stay in the spot since we had reserved it before this happened. Fast forward to today, I called them with another question and to verify the reservation and they told me that we could no longer stay in that spot. We liked it because it was big and accommodated 2 tents for our family of 6. Also, they changed the rules that now there can be no more than 1 tent per site and no more than 4 people per site. We have stayed 3 times before with the larger setup but now the new owners want more money by changing sites to RV and limiting campers. Ouray KOA has lost a loyal customer with this selfishness. I fear that Ouray is turning into another Telluride. On down the road to Silverton for us. read more

I love this campground the mountains are right there in your face the owners are great people it's a beautiful campground with lots of cabins it's a little expensive but in the area that's a average price. Wow, how things have changed, and NOT for the better!! We've been coming to this KOA for over 20 years. Sadly it appears that the new owners are apparently very eager to turn this once lovely spot into a money hole. The number of campsites doubled but without any increase in acreage. Now they've got sites crammed together like sardines. Or tent was surrounded by other tents on all sides. We could hear every conversation outside and inside of the neighboring tents. We always chose the lovely tent sites by the pond, where we had a big site with a lot of privacy. Now these are RV sites. What I thought I was booking ended up being a former motorcycle site. And the prices went WAY UP!! Despite being during COVID, with state and local mandatory mask orders in place, NO staff were wearing them. They had signs stating mandatory masks, yet were not enforcing or setting a good example. They added all these new sites without increasing any bathroom facilities. There are only two bathrooms, which are always hot and crowded. I don't think they're cleaned very often either. The shower had the same hairball in it two days in a row. The driveway was very dusty and despite the 5mph being posted, it was not enforced either, as people sped through all day and night, kicking dust up everywhere. Truly heartbreaking how these new owners have destroyed this once lovely getaway into a dusty, crowded, and unhealthy money machine. Oh, and the WiFi SUCKS read more

We made our reservation in October for our stay in June. When we got close we decided to see if we could come in a day early and we got a reservation for Wednesday but we were going to have to move on Thursday to another spot. We drove around the campground and found a spot we really liked and went into the office to see if we could move there and be in the same place for our entire stay. Megan helped us and she went above and beyond to accommodate us and get us the place we wanted. She was so helpful and professional and even made a phone call to the person that had a reservation to see if they needed 50 amp or 30 amp. They needed 30 amp and that allowed us to get our place. I love when people really try hard to make the customer happy! read more

My wife and I stayed here in our 23' travel trailer and we really enjoyed the place. It's only a few minutes from Ouray & Ridgeway for services. The bathrooms are private and clean. There are plenty of spots with shade and some on the irrigation canal they have running through the property. There's a nice spot to hike on the property overlooking all of the camping spots as well. We ate some BBQ at the restaurant and it was really good, they sure know how to do it this summer. There were a lot of families that looked like they were having fun but we're just a couple and had a good time too. Just grab a map from the office and head off into the mountains! read more

Have stayed here several times and love this KOA. We end up in Ouray 1 to 3 times a year just to get away and enjoy the awesome mountain trails. Would highly recommend staying here. I only have experience with the cabins and the teepee and they are perfect for a place to rest your head at night. And just to say you spent the night in a teepee is cool. The bathrooms are kept clean and there is a ton of shade. I will choose to stay here first every time I come to this area of the country. read more

The place is always clean, quiet and relaxing. It's our favorite spot for camping. We have been going there almost every year for the last 20 years. It's the best place to stay when heading out to the numerous jeep trails in the area. Ouray is definitely the Jeep Capital of the World. David and Deborah have owned this KOA for almost 30 years. We had a slight mix up with our reservation this year. David personally came out and moved us to one of the best sites in the campground. And this was before he knew how often we frequent his campground. It is refreshing to see that someone still runs their business with that much concern for customer satisfaction. read more

I have camped at this KOA with my family since I was a kid. It used to be an awesome retreat from the city. I try to go down every Memorial Day Weekend. Unfortunately this year and last year the staff has become increasingly unhelpful and rude, including the owner David, who twice gave me a hard time about my dog, which i have brought with me many stays before and it hasn't been an issue, and driving up on our campsite at almost 1030 unannounced to argue with my friend and I about my dog once again. I would never consider staying here again after the way myself and my friend were treated. There are many other far superior campgrounds in the area with more pleasant staff. WOULD NOT RECCOMEND!!!! Stay somewhere where you can truly enjoy the majesty of Ouray and the San Juan's! read more

We booked 4 log cabins stream-side for a family of 13 visiting from Florida a year in advance by stopping by the campgrounds and speaking w/ staff. They said cabins sleep 4 but never told us pricing was for two people per cabin. We weren't pleased to be hit with addtl. charges for 5 people upon check-in. Even the KOA Ouray website stated 4 per cabin but not dbl. occupancy pricing. Oh, well the cabins were clean and snug but it was moth mating season and we captured 32 moths in one cabin alone! They fluttered and swarmed all night long the first night, then I guess they got the message and left us alone. Mattresses were new but hard as a rock .Did have electricity in cabins with lamp and outlets for charging phones, laptop, etc. Enjoyed the swing on the porch by the stream as the day cooled off. Bathrooms relatively clean and hot water plentiful for a July 4th week's crowd but need more of them; 2 toilets and 3 showers are just not enough for a full campground. Also under a fire ban due to extremely dry conditions so no fires, no grilling just propane stove only. Challenge to the cooks for 13 people! Still not a bad camping trip, just be sure to ask LOTS of questions before booking and also before arriving. read more

This place is great! We usually don't stay at these types of campgrounds but are now a fan of KOA - Durango. This KOA has a great staff, is very clean and just a fun place to stay with the kids. We rented the Lodge cabin for one night and wish we would have stayed longer. We will be back! read more
