This book shop looks like something out of the movie set of Notting Hill. Without the hustle and…read morebustle of a book shop it is quiet and peaceful so you can reflect in tranquil surroundings what you are buying. A wide selection of books, and great customer service. What I like in particular is that there are always great discounted deals near the counter. I like that they have employed older people to work at the tills, they are extrememly friendly and the people working on the floor are very helpful and knowledgable. I visit WHSmith regularly for stationary despite there being cheaper alernatives because of the above reasons and the great quality.

This shop is full of over-priced goods aimed at a captive audience. Poor show! There are building works everywhere. Perhaps a phoenix will rise from the ashes but I'm not holding my breath.

I well remember the excitement of coming here clutching my birthday book tokens as a child, and it hasn't changed a bit. The service is second to none, and offers that personal touch that the big chains, online or on the high street, cannot hope to emulate. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and will go out of their way to track down any books which are not in stock. The ordering service is quick and efficient, meaning that obscure tome will soon be in your hands.

I don't know what has happened but there only seem to be 2 people working here now. 1 on the till and 1 hiding out the back. Its a shop lifters paradice! Are all W H Smiths as bad as this one is? Its a shame as even though its quite a small branch, nothing used to be too much trouble, now you get told to go to Slough!! I don't know whether the company are trying to run this store down so they have an excuse to close it like John Lewis did with Caley's further up the road and what a con that was. John Lewis partnership said they were closing the store because they were unable to modernise it because the building was listed and sales were falling. The truth was that they never sold anything you wanted or needed including stuff that was in their brochures and were reluctant to order anything. You were always told High Wycombe or Reading will have it and they carried little stock for their last 2 years of operating. Once they had sold the 'outstanding' building the new owners set about demolishing it much to the suprise of locals and we soon discovered that the only listed part was the front!! If the current owners dig any deeper they will hit Australia and neighbouring shops are suffering cracks and flood damage. So W H Smith, buck up or ship out.
