The food that came out infront of me was 2 small corn tortilla beef tacos. That's it. No side, no beans no rice. The apple salads were tiny! All of it over priced for what you get. The food looks good, the place has a quaint 'hole-in-the-wall' feel but I really have no idea if the food is edible because the service was so horrifically bad. The Babe™ & I tried in vain to go there for lunch. After being seated with the menu for about 20 minutes & watching what appeared to be a waiter (he sat us, got us menus, and appeared to take other people's orders...just not ours) we decided to take matters into our own hands and hightailed it to Big Island Sams for nourishment. Loco Moco has a way of fixing this kind of ineptitude... At one point, after waiting with the menus placed down for a good 10 minutes, I caught the so-called waiters eye & expected him to shortly arrive. Small serving sizes, expensive, but Delish! My husband and I went here with another couple for a fun dinner. Our friends introduced us and when we got there, it didn't look like much, but within 30 minutes the entire place was full! We ordered three different types of tacos: Shrimp, Avocado, and Steak! For the Tacos, you can choose regular corn tortillas or you can get beet and radish tortillas. Definitely our favorite of the meat options. Shrimp Tacos: SPIIIICY! My husband loves eating jalapenos and puts hot sauce on everything, but it was too hot for him. We would have been fine, but our waiter told us it wouldn't be spicy; if he was honest with us we would have been prepared for it and maybe enjoyed it more. Avocado Tacos: AMAZING! I am always a little hesitant to get avocado stuff, because it might be mushy, but these were perfectly ripe. Found out after first time they somehow overcharged me and my buddy on separate tickets ten bucks each. Not sure how bc it's on an iPad, but $74 for a taco lunch for two just ain't right even with a split appetizer and drink. Called the manager, we went back tonight so he could "make it right". Our table for 4 got two orders of qeusadillas at managers suggestion (we assumed for FREE ). Well, they weren't. If not for the free dessert for checking in on yelp I would've left hungry. Food was good. Small portions. Overpriced. Pretentious. Service was slow and horrible. Couple folks next to us left after sitting for 15 minutes and never getting served. MUST GO Brunch Special Friday and Saturday 9-11. This new restaurant in Orem is incredible. Every dish in the 4-course Brunch Special was delicious, each with a different contribution and spicing. Paprika, cinnamon and sugar spiced grapefruit and orange to start, a perfect small ball of oatmeal with salted kiwi and yogurt, eggs Benedict on (what I think were) hominy cakes with cabbage onion salad and fried bananas with Mexican cheese, and finally a "crounut" with flaky sweet dough and a raspberry. Mosi Oteo, our handsome host, explained how his parents and family moved to Orem to create this great new restaurant. You could tell they were a little new, but have an intense curiosity and interest in creating unique, delicious food. He asked me what we liked about the food, how we found the place, how we liked our coffee. My companion and I are major travelers--him from Maui, me from San Francisco. We have been all over the world, and Oteo is world-class. You must go. And if you live near Orem, you will go again and again. read more

Did not expect to find a restaurant of this quality in the Provo/Orem area. Excellent modern Mexican fusion. The hangar steak taco was to die for, especially with the rich homemade salsa. The avocado taco was also excellent, as flavorful and satisfying as most meat tacos. The combination of veggies and light sauces on it was unique and delicious. The service was truly standout. The owner came out to greet us and even knew my name as I'd bought a coupon on Yelp. He also followed up to make sure we were happy with our meal. He was funny, clever and charming. You could tell he really cares about his customers and is trying to build something special. $11 was very reasonable for an excellent lunch. I'd love it if the portions were a little larger--two tacos is a small lunch for a manly guy like me. But healthy. How much you like this will depend on how much you like trendy stuff, particularly sort of deconstructed things...this is borderline Chipotle in a sit-down restaurant, wherein you pick stuff and they build your meal for you. A lot of this is locally sourced, so maybe it's a pseudo farm-to-table thing. This is actually the kind of place that would go over huge in Salt Lake, tiny inside, tiny tables, tiny menu, tiny portions, very heavy silverware, an abysmal drink selection. It's probably in the wrong place now. If you must go here or simply don't know any better, stick with the pork. That they do pretty well and the flavors are nice, even if the dish itself is on the dinky side. The beef was a lot less better. Both of them were piled high with what I'm guessing was cabbage and maybe something else. It made the dish rather unwieldy, so I parted it like the Red Sea and just got to the meat of things, so to speak. Big chunks of pieces and all I had was a fork. Nice. This sort of destroyed the sope, which was a bit slight to begin with. All in all, it meshed poorly. We also had the fundido, which was loaded with a lot of stuff like plantains and other things less identifiable. I recently ventured down to Oteo for lunch with some friends and family. This is a little oasis in a strip mall serving a small menu of Mexican delights. Sound seems to echo in here more than most restaurants, so it's definitely on the loud side. It's not a big place and we didn't have a reservation, so it took a minute for our large group to be served. Having heard a bit about the portion sizes, we started with a bit of queso fundido. Everyone at the table really enjoyed this; nice flavor and just the right consistency (hard to do with this dish). It was served with soft, fresh pieces of tortilla. Soft drinks came out after the appetizer. I guess they ran out of glasses/mason jars. I wish we enjoyed the entrees more. We got three of the four selections: tacos, sopes, and molotes. My nephew got the kid's quesadilla. He seemed to enjoy it. Tacos were good with fresh ingredients, but the portion was small and the flavor was a little lacking. I got a steak molote and other than the meat couldn't tell much of a difference between that and my husband's pork sope. Great presentation, and the meats were obviously fresh and flavorful but were overpowered by the large piles of greens on top. I couldn't get a great feel for the corn cake because there just wasn't enough of it. After the meal, we were all given complimentary cronuts, which may have been the highlight of the meal: light, flaky, wonderful. I just wish the entrees were as good. Service was friendly. Prices were a little high, but I understand I'm paying for good ingredients. There's great potential here, but there's just not much variety of flavor going on here. They have two fruits salads and a Kale salad. So the Salads were excellent, or so my friend said. He had a fruit salad and a Kale salad with Chicken. I had the Pork tacos. I've been following Oteo on Instagram for some time now because I'd seen it featured on a few Utah foodie Instagram accounts and jumped at the opportunity to eat there for lunch today with friends. The menu isn't very large but still has a good variety, and most importantly is super delicious. I ordered the Queso Fundido to share with my friends, one steak taco and one pork taco, and a cronut for dessert. There wasn't a single thing I put in my mouth that wasn't extremely delicious and flavorful. The Queso Fundido is a must-have appetizer and is, without a doubt, the best you'll ever have because it's made with real cheese. It's served with garlicky corn tortillas as well, which are delicious even on their own. I ate the steak taco first and thought there was no way the pork could possibly be better, but then it somehow was. The meats are SO flavorful and marinated to perfection. The steak is topped with grated Granny Smith Apple, sliced jicama, and the most thinly sliced jalapeño, and the pork is topped with pickled cucumbers and red onions, thinly sliced radish, and cilantro. Though they're street taco size, they're extremely filling. The cronut was incredible (for those of you unfamiliar with the cronut, it's a croissant/donut hybrid), and had coconut cream in the middle and chocolate and raspberry sauces. I could have eaten about ten of them. The atmosphere is cool and trendy, and I loved the vibe. Our server wasn't quite as attentive as I'd have liked, and unfortunately one friend's work lunch hour became more of a work lunch hour and a half because of it. She was, however, very friendly. After getting off to a very bad start with slow and poor service, each dish slowly changed our experience. Horchata was average The queso was very good, had a nice flavor to it, pretty thick. The mosi tacos were great, ours were made with bison, avocado, jalapeños and a great sauce. Everyone enjoyed them. The pork tacos were my favorite, sweet with pickled onions, very good. The cronuts were spot on, you could taste just a bit of salt at the end, which really enhanced the sweetness. Be sure to order the crio drink, it's a hot drink made from coco beans. It's common in South America and the only place I've had it around here. Very different than typical hot chocolate. Also they made up for the service issues, the second half of the meal. read more

This is legit Mexican inspired dishes elevated for the pickiest foodie and simply astounding for the inexperienced pallet. It's simple, fresh ingredients in great hands become something special. First timers should try the hanger steak tacos, even the simple quesadilla will make you regret not trying it sooner. Oh and if you're lucky enough to come in when they have cronuts available, don't you dare leave without getting one. They're not a fad, they are all you will crave for dessert from that point on. Where to begin...I generally don't write reviews as you can tell by my review count, but after my experience here, it would be a disservice to not share with the Yelp community. I was in SLC on business and wanted to drive out to Lake Utah to catch the sunset (very Emo, I know). After taking a stroll on the lake and visiting BYU, I opened Yelp and searched for restaurants in the area and stumbled upon Oteo. I was immediately drawn in by their portion sizes - not too big, but not too small either. So, I show up at Oteo on a Monday evening at around 6:30pm and noticed that the lights were kind of dim and they looked closed. Well, of course I had to get park the car and try the door - no luck. Closed. I get back in the car and an elderly gentlemen emerges from the establishment and says "Sir! Are you hungry?" I say "Yeah...sorry, I'm visiting from Nashville and I didn't know that you were closed." He says "Hey, don't worry about it...come on in!" What happened next was simply incredible. The elderly gentleman was Sam Oteo. He owns the restaurant with his family. His sons, Mosi and Doni, run the show and are incredibly genuine and welcoming. Despite being closed for the night (they closed at 3pm), Sam jumped behind the grill and prepared a meal for me while I chatted with Mosi and Doni. Now for the food - I had the empanadas con pollo and let me tell you, they were phenomenal! The dough was perfect, the portion balanced, and the flavor was robust and savory. Sam and Mosi also insisted that I try the steak taco. I've been all over the world and this was THE best steak taco I've ever had. If you're in Lindon, you should definitely swing by Oteo. Pros: Nice environment, plantains were tasty, nice staff Cons: Tacos were way overpriced ($6 per taco), tacos were extremely salty and had too much sauce, it is a sit-down restaurant, but the servers don't really do a whole lot except give you your food and then expect at least an 18% tip, the forks are huge and makes it difficult to eat. I went into this place with high expectations. Honestly, I appreciate that it is all natural food, but if I want street tacos, I'll stick to 180 tacos where the quality is excellent and it's much cheaper, faster, better. read more

My wife and I came down to American Fork from Salt Lake City to buy a car a couple days ago. We aren't familiar with all of the restaurants down here as we rarely ever come down to AF. Anyway, I yelped and found OTEO. Wow! Great place! Friendly staff! The food not only tastes good but is carefully prepared and presented. They were out of chicken when we came so we had the beef, pork and avocado tacos on corn tortillas. Very nice! Flash forward a couple days later, I'm back in AF as I had to bring my new car down for the new tires and windshield the dealership promised. Where to eat....? OTEO of course! Today I got to try the chicken tacos! Incredible! So good in fact I had to order another one. The chef brought it out to me along with an "off menu" Barbacoa beef taco. How nice is that? Super nice! The sopas were delicious and totally worth the 8 bucks I paid...cheap for the explosion of flavors I had in every bite. Wow! That was how we felt when we were served the most delicious tacos and dessert. We were hesitant to eat here because there was no one in the restaurant. We looked the menu over and decided to stay. We were served in a timely manner and the staff was sweet. After eating she encouraged us to try to the cronut and wow! It was amazing! One moment you're in a kinda run-down strip mall with fade paint and dreary facades, and the next your in some ostentatious little hipster joint being asked if you have a reservation! I must be in the wrong place. But no, they settled me in, and talked me into some tacos. The tortillas were soft, homemade, and not quite tortillas. Maybe it was a mirror universe tortilla that comes wrapped in onions. The meat was quite good, but it was pricey.
