My husband had one hanger beef taco and one shrimp (which he was blown away by) and I had two chicken tacos which were delicious. First course was Seasoned Baked Grapefruit. I noticed Ivane liked and if you know Ivane, it is hard to please her taste. Since they ran out of Grapefruit, they made some fruit salad. Second course was Oatmeal and Yogurt with a slice of Kiwi. Third course was Molote, Mexican Egg Benedict. And the meal was ended with a Crount. I love the presentation of every course! The meal was tasty, refreshing, and light but satisfying. Few parts were over salty by accident because it was just on the one side of dish. We also tried some tacos. This place is awesome. My first impression was that it was a little hipster (not a bad thing). It's very relaxed and their menu is small, and approachable. Staff was knowledgeable about specials and the menu, which is great! I started with the fried plantains--wow! I didn't know what to expect, but it was delicious! The fresh crema and cheese were a great contrast to the slightly sweet plantain! Definitely recommend! I also tried the kale salad, and it did not disappoint! It was done nicely and they knew how to balance out the bitter kale flavor. Everything was super fresh too! I got the tacos for dinner and tried their pork and the avocado taco. Yes. Avocado taco! I wish I had ordered TWO avocado tacos. They were AMAZING! Each taco came with its own special toppings; pork had an orange slice, a pickled veggie, and cilantro (yum!), and the avocado came with thinly sliced beets (double yum, and I don't like beets normally!). For dessert I got the raspberry cronut. I've had cronuts before, but this was one of the best I'd had. This place is on the pricier side, just an FYI, but it is so good and FRESH! Oteo is a cute and simple little spot in downtown Provo that is great for a stop in if you're strolling the area and want something different than elsewhere. The portions were perfect, and the steak in the empanada was delicious and cooked with care, very flavorful and authentic compared to other Mexican style restaurants in the area. My only issues were the seating and service. I think they may have been short staffed that night, because it seemed like the type of place that typically would have more wait staff serving. The seating was not so comfortable, and I could hear other people's conversations occurring while I was eating my meal. I think this will definitely be a new favorite take out spot, will return. read more

I was uniquely surprised by my experience at Oteos. It was difficult to find being in an obscure strip mall but the interior reminded me of a restaurant in Manhattan. The prices seemed high but after tasting the food I felt that it was a good value. The service seemed slow but it was so friendly that I didn't seem to mind. The presentation of the food wowed me and the interesting pairing of ingredients was awesome. For example, the hanger steak taco came with julienned apples on it...crazy, fun flavor. The owner came out to chat about his sourcing of the food he serves. Everything comes fresh and is local to Utah. I can get behind that. It was a pleasure being here today. read more

Really solid spot here. The location isn't prime and I really hope they don't end up paying for the lack of visibility. The owner, and staff (including his father in the exposed kitchen) are very in to what they are doing. Lots of energy. I'm starting with the best, the Cronut (my first experience, shameful for a hipster like me) was devilishly good. Flaky croissant texture, immaculate custard center, raspberry reduction, and a crisp top with a kiss of coarse salt which just set it all off. Holy crap. They lost half a star because the machine for the latte which should accompany this treat was busted. The entrees were great. We had 2x tacos, and one Max's dumpling entree. The steak, chicken, and pork were all very good. The pork on dumplings was my favorite. Variable flavored throughout the dish, melding from lime to vinegar, creamy to crisp, earthy to chewy. Very well constructed. Tacos were simpler; the steak stood out with a crisp and light (maybe blanched?) Granny Smith, onion, and Serrano topping which was stellar. The chicken was great but maybe shredded to fine to appreciate the roasting. There was a chicken bone in a taco which lost the other half star. They said they were doing a special offering of ceviche for dinner which I wish I could try. I'm sure it would be top notch. Entrees were about $10 a head at lunchtime, not sure if dinner menu is different. Tacos need an appetizer but the dumpling entree is more filling. Absolutely give this place a try. First time here and... LOVED IT! Food was very good and served in great time. This is more of a high-end "Mexican" restaurant. I use quotations because it doesn't really have the feel/vibe of your typical Mexican restaurant. However, the environment is very nice and it adds nicely to the meal. Entree: I tried the Beef Molotes and they were absolutely delicious!! The combination of the sauce, cabbage, and meat went really well together. I wish it would have had more of a crunch to it as advertised by the waiter, but delicious nonetheless. Dessert: Gordo try a little of both the Cronut and Churros. Both were delicious! I have to update-we can't keep coming back here because we have kids and when we get a babysitter we don't have the entire night just to eat dinner. The portions are small and the prices are above average BUT I'm fine with paying extra for incredible quality and creativity. I know they must be paying extra for their supplies and food because it's amazing and you can absolutely taste the difference in quality compared to many other places. My husband and I started with the queso and it was so good! It didn't make me sick, make me feel bloated or full. It was just right. I got 2 tacos, an avocado taco and a chicken taco. Both were a 10. My husband got the hanger beef taco and loved it. I have to say that because of the portions he would go back if I asked him to but he would never pick it. He would prefer a place that served chips and rice and beans and had bigger portions. No, this place doesn't serve chips. They don't really fry anything besides their amazing Cronut (dessert). Their goal is not to fill you up to the brim and have you leave with your pants undone. Actually when we were done eating I felt like I could eat more but by the time we got home I was totally satisfied and not uncomfortable. We had just the right amount of food, it just took a little time for our hypothalamus to catch up to our stomachs. I recommend everything I ate. Horrible service I took my wife this past weekend and we will not be coming back. When we arrived, there was no waiter to greet us or even acknowledge our place in line. We ended up waiting 45 minutes to be seated even though there were many open tables. When the waitress finally seated us, our table didn't have cups or utensils or even a menu. 20 minutes go by and we are still there without even water or a menu. Meanwhile , we notice those who arrived after us have started eating appetizers and some even their main course. Such neglect and apathy , it was almost laughable. Tonight, they were out of half the menu.. no seafood, no chicken, and For $12 you get 2 tacos that are good but not so good that you should pay $6 each. The taco shells were freshly made and were definitely above the normal. We wanted to try one of the few apps but they were out of their quest. How are you a Mexican place and you are out of queso??? My "medium rare" hangar steak taco was more like well done and chewy. I guess I am going pretty negative. While I am there... the tables had that gross tacky sticky finish. I most of the people leave after hearing from the solo waitress that they were out of half their menu items. We should have gone to one of the other options that we know are good but we heard good things and wanted to try it. Wow. I'm a sucker for cheap street tacos, and rarely am I impressed with slightly nicer, fancier tacos like Oteo serves. But holy crap was Oteo amazing. Great ambiance, fun little restaurant in Lindon. We ordered a variety of tacos and one chicken empanada. The empanada was awesome, but I'd stick with the tacos for the first time. The Salmon taco was incredible - very creamy and tender. Just as good, the pork tacos. I wish we'd gotten more of these. Carne asada taco was also amazing. The Chicken taco was definitely the least flavorful but still great. A few of the tacos had tiny little jalapeños on them which added the perfect amount of spice. Oteo is tucked away off the main road but don't let that fool you, it's worth the meander to the back of the shopping complex to enjoy an elegant sit down. I've been here several times and each time I've graced my lips with their tacos. What a delectable taste. Normally a Carne Asana kind of a guy I was surprised to discover that my favorite flavor was their chicken taco. It's so fresh and filled with incredible flavor it's one you don't want to miss. But this time was different. While reading the menu my server informed me that they offered a burrito, not shown on the menu. At first instinct I chose to stay with what I knew was true... tacos were good and tacos made me happy. But there was that little something in the back of mind that told me this was going to be one of those moments in life where you just have to leap and trust the wind to carry you forward. I leaped and boy did that wind come. The burrito was placed before me plated in a way to make the Italian artists of old jealous. But I wasn't there for window shopping so I dug in. Oh, that first bite. And the second and the third and on and on and on. It was beyond my ability to describe. I kept trying to find the words but nothing came. My lunch partner, who ordered the same thing, and I could only look at each other with tears in our eyes and slowly nod our heads. Yes! Wow wow wow boom chicka wow wow is all I have to say! No for real though, by far my favorite place in all of Utah county. This is not your typical Mexican food. Think iron chef, tasting menu meets local sourced ingredients all made by a family of the most passionate chefs! The food is bursting with flavor. From the amazing kale salad (great starter) to the queso fundido (think cheese fondue) also a starter all the way through the tacos and empanadas, you just can't go wrong. Hanging beef tender taco has intense flavor with lime, and a few shreds of Granny Smith apple. The avocado taco was equally good and quite different, with cojita cheese and paper-thin slices of beets. Ate at Oteo for the first time today. It's so unassuming in a large strip mall that features quite a few vacant storefronts. We ordered the Granny Smith salad, chicken sopes, and pork tacos. Everything (especially the meat) was perfectly flavorful and felt very fresh. Love that they locally source their like old favorites Communal and Copper Onion. Flavorful, delectable, and decent service. It was our first time here, but it has instantly become one of our local favorites. I highly recommend the steak and pork tacos. We just went a second time and tried to order the same tacos, but we were given pork belly instead of shredded pork. Definitely not as impressed the 2nd time in, but still a good place to eat. They did comp my wife's pork belly taco and gave her a different one, but the first visit set the bar very high, and those expectations weren't met on the 2nd visit. read more

The food is delicious!!! The tacos were full of fresh amazing flavor. We tried the pork and chicken and they were both amazing. We also got the queso appetizer which was melted cheese. While the queso was quite tasty, I was expecting a runnier cheese rather than melted cheese. I was a little disappointed. I would have given 5 stars but I thought the servings were a little bit small for the price we paid. You get two small tacos for 10.25. Service was slow (they weren't prepared for our large party or really much business the night we were there) but they accommodated us as quickly as they could preparing food for our party of 10. The restaurant was extremely cold - most of us kept our coats on - but the the cold and wait were worth it. We had queso fundido all around, and it was served with their delicious homemade corn tortillas. These corn tortillas are so light and soft, just pillows for the things it transports to your mouth. Pretty much everyone on our table got the taco combo plate - two tacos for $7. The tacos are well filled. I'll particularly point out that the avocado taco is an EXCELLENT vegetarian choice, not just an afterthought vegetarian choice. An option for a three taco plate would be good because without our appetizers we probably would have left still hungry and slightly unsatisfied since the taco plate is just the two street tacos.
