They will just sell you eyeglasses and that's it! Once they got the money, they won't waste their time for your concern anymore. I was there a month ago to get eyeglasses for the computer, basically, just eyeglasses with the blue light blocking, the doctor said that my eyes were perfect but she will add a little bit grade on my lenses, at first I was hesitant but she convinced me that it's okay. Fast forward, I got my eyeglasses, I'd try it on and told them that I am feeling dizzy, they said "maybe because it was your first eyeglasses, try it for 2 weeks". 2 weeks after, it gives me nothing but headache (and feels like I am crossed eyes) whenever I wear it so I came back to the store and returning it as I don't want them to redo it because I don't trust them anymore. And the staff said, they cannot do the refund and only redo them. The thing is no one advised me that I cannot return them, and I didn't sign any papers too. read more

Normally my service there is 5 star but they Have grown and the two last times there it Took some time to acknowledge me until I Finally just went up to one of the reps. The optometrists however are fantastic, I have gone here for several years and they are so patient And let me feel like they care about health. I've been going here on and off for about 8 years. The staff is always very helpful. Came in yesterday for a quick fix for my frames (lost a nose pad) and Luis (sorry if I misspelled!) was quick to help me out. I was in and out in ten minutes and he replaced both nose pads and tightened my frames for me. Free of charge! My glasses fit my face much better now and don't slide off of my nose anymore. Based on other reviews they are not making any changes to improve their service. I can assume that they don't care about their patient's feedback or don't really appreciate loyal customers. My whole family have been loyal customers for years and over this time I have noticed how their customer service and level of professionalism has declined. In many occasions when I have an appointment and show up on time they have me waiting because the doctor is running behind. However, if I show up a minute after their 10 mis grace period they are not able to take me in? On top of that when I called to make an appointment I asked to confirm my eligibility for an eye exam and was told that I was eligible. Though when I showed up to my appointment, I was informed that I was not eligible until the following month. I offered for the consultation to pay out of pocket but they still won't see me. They made me waste my time due to their disorganization and inability to accommodate their patience needs first. I don't recommend doing business with them. read more

I've been coming in for more than 10 years and had all my work done at this facility. Came in on 3/18/24 to pick up my second pair of glasses I had them worked on. Everything was good with the work., all I asked was for a generic hard case instead of the soft case they provided and they would not give it to me. I paid out of pocket after using my insurance, so I got two glasses worked on by them this year. Before, when I requested a hard case they were willing to provide, what changed? They even said anytime you need a refill for the lens cleaner I could stop by and get a refill. When I requested a refill, the lady that helped me said we only give new ones. But she just stood there. I was wondering if she would get me a new bottle but she never did. It's not worth coming this location if the staff don't want to value the people they are serving. Management please train your staff to actually value the people that give you business, otherwise they will look elsewhere to an establishment that treats them with love. read more

Came a week ago for an eye exam, while the optometrist was pleasant enough and knowledgable, the actual service staff is horrendous. There is no one who knows anything about customer service at all, should open a prison not an eyeglass store. The woman "helping" was more occupied with catching up on gossip and her sex life with the other employee there than answering my questions and showing me frames. Go second time for pick up and another employee cant seem to understand my last name when i clearly state it. Sorry my name is not "Perez" rascist assuming staff. Then pretends that i didnt see here not putting in the glass cleaner and cloth that come with my glasses in my bag. Only after i inquire about them does she put them in and pretend they were there all along. Horrible customer service by all the staff. Such a great team! Dr. Elias Was very thorough and patient. I had my toddler with me during my exam and dr Elias was very accommodating since my son wanted to stay in my lap the whole time. The same goes with Jon, he was also very patient and helped me pick out the perfect glasses. He explained to me what my insurance covers and what I would be eligible for. He gave me a very detailed breakdown of my cost and my options. I highly recommend this office and both Dr. Elias and Jon. They were very friendly and patient. I understand you're all busy but to just walk up to someone point the thermometer at your head and not say a word is inexcusable. No one said I'll be right with you or sorry we're running behind, I'll be right with you. This is an update to a review I wrote in May, 2011. I re-visited Otay Ranch Eyeworks due to an email conversation over Yelp that I had with the owner/optometrist. He stated a customer service training program would immediately be implemented after he read my review. I wrote and stated I might be back. I gave them a month's time and went back a couple of days ago. This time, I wasn't in the store 30 seconds before someone walked up and greeted me. (There were two people working this afternoon around 3 PM) I told her I was browsing and she went back to service other customers. Then about 5 minutes later the second employee walked up to me and asked if I needed assistance. I took her up on it, stating I needed petite frames due to the structure of my face/eye distance apart. She walked with me to every single display in the store and readily helped me select frames to try on. I didn't find any eyeglass frames that seemed to suit me, but I did find a pair of sunglasses. I purchased these and ordered polarized prescription lenses and a couple of other features for the lenses. I was told up front that my insurance, which is Davis Vision (through Blue Cross Blue Shield) only has one facility (in Philadelphia) that makes eye/sunglasses and it will take up 4-6 weeks for delivery back to Otay Ranch Eyeworks. I didn't know this, but very good info to have up front. During the ordering of the sunglasses, I did identify myself as 'the one who wrote the bad Yelp review' and both employees knew of the review. They said they hoped it was better this time around and I told them it was a night and day difference, and that I would post a review update on Yelp. They both stated 'please do!' and apologized for the bad customer service in the past. So... (1) The difference in customer service from the first visit to this recent visit was night and day. (2) I received 10% off my purchase (stated from the owner/optometrist) and was told I'd receive 30% off my next purchase. (3) I'll let you know about my sunglasses order when it arrives. read more

I missed a lot of time for work picking up my frame. Deciding on what to have for my lenses never became a problem for me. But I'm givin' it 5 stars for Nicole who have been so accommodating to us and had been so patient with my almost 2 hours of choosing what's right for me. She gave me every suggestion she could give based on my preferences. She worked as hard as I could to choose and compensate for my indecisiveness. Keep up the good work! P.S if I could suggest one thing, customers would love if the front desk people would smile more so the business would be more enticing to people. False advertisement! Their "exchange policy" that they're so proud to push on you is a scam! Beware: I would like to begin saying that that actual optometrists I dealt with were a pleasure, knowledgeable and professional! I was not sure whether I wanted to pick out frames here, but Michael I believe his name was, was super cool and convinced me to look at frames. He said if I was not satisfied I could bring them back. Well, I ended up not liking them and I wanted to exchange them, so I went back. The lady who helped me (Nydia) did not seem happy that I was there to exercise my promised exchange right. She said "you might want to find a seat because I'm helping someone else and it's going to be a long while if you want to do an exchange." Okay? So I took a seat... When she got around to helping me, a few moments later, which made me wonder why she made me feel I'd wait an eternity, I was explaining the issues I was having with my lenses & frames. She started saying she didn't know if the lab was going to want to do this and that and the other. It turns out, I ended up picking a whole new frame so "the lab" would be willing to do the exchange. About a week or so later, I got a call back saying that even though the new frames were cheaper, I would not be able to apply the difference to the new lab fees (approximately 80-115 dollars) which would be due if I wanted to exchange them. So this money was going where? I couldn't cancel my order because they don't do returns. Great! Now I'm stuck with stupid glasses I don't like. Guess I'm wearing contacts all the time. Never going back here and I'll let all my friends know what a scam this place is! read more

The Dr was great. She was very helpful and explained my son's prescription very well. When it came time to getting the lens and prescriptions the sales person insisted we get the insurance paid lens. My son likes his current frame and when we insisted on changing the prescription they wanted us to sign a document that said they are not responsible if the frame gets damaged or lost in the process. Not the greatest policy. We decided just to get the prescription and take it to another store. read more

All the staff were great for our post-COVID visit. From the very first phone call, they checked all my copayments and went over what was covered in detail. My daughter and I got back to back appointments quickly, and we were reassured about safety measures. They checked out temperatures at the door and everything looked clean and safe. Before putting our faces on the machines, they were cleaned in front of us which I found reassuring as well. It was only my daughter with the staff in there plus another customer, so we were able to be socially distant from others. The doctors were both great and super patient with my 7 year old. The doctors are great, the customer service from the other staff is terrible. I had confirmed my daughters appointment via text days prior. I later received a follow up from a staff member asking me if I knew what the insurance number was...do you guys have those on hand? Usually they just look them up for us and my daughter has been there before, our insurance has not changed. I told her no and she looked it up. And what do you know she found it! We arrived on time for her appointment. The older lady that checked us in stuck the "NO CONTACT" thermometer DIRECTLY on my forehead when I cringed she said "don't worry we sanitize them"; i still didn't appreciate a community thermometer stuck placed directly on my skin, I dont think many would during a pandemic. As we sat down another customer walked in and another employee used the thermometer on her, WITHOUT sanitizing it like the other staff member said they do. While we waited i was then asked if we had an appointment, I said yes and told her we received a confirmation. Behind the desk the same lady that checked us in was telling her coworker we didn't have an appointment. At this point I was questioning her ability to do her job. Eventually she found it. She took pictures of my kids eyes and we saw the doctor. THE DOCTOR WAS GREAT. He took the time to tell me what he was assessing, things to watch for that were indicative of changes to her vision, and interacted well with my 5yr old (thanks doc!). We stood in the lobby for direction for a couple of minutes (only one other customer in building, maybe 2? And 3 staff members) but as we stood there the same lady that checked us in said nothing--a little "ill be with you shortly" could go a long way, at least acknowledge our presence. Already dissatisfied by the customer service we left. No one stopped us. I called shortly to verify a copay wasn't needed, I drove back and paid it minutes after. Again, the docs are great. The office staff's customer service needs vast improvement. If youre in the service industry you kinda have to acknowledge the presence of your customers i would think. If the customer service remains this way, we will gladly take our business elsewhere and no longer refer friends and family to this specific location. read more

We have been a little bit lost since our beloved, long-time optometrist, Dr. Kohler, in Coronado, retired. We tried going to the doc that Dr. Kohler referred all of his patients to, but we did not like the high pressure sales job they did. I googled optometrists near us, & found Otay Ranch Eyeworks. The staff is so friendly, and NO high pressure sales! The surprised us because the office is beautiful and the variety of glasses frames is astounding. Dr. Eli (if I'm remembering correctly) was also amazing. He was friendly, and did his best to get to know us (hubby & me) as well as he could in the short appointment time. And again, no high pressure sales. Also, they have appointments on both Saturdays and Sundays! I couldn't make someone work on a Sunday, but was so happy to be able to get in on a Saturday in such short notice (2 days). I highly recommend Otay Ranch Eyeworks to anyone! read more

It was my 3 children's first time getting their eyes checked so they were a bit nervous going in. Our greeting by the staff was warm, welcoming, and professional! I feel terrible I didn't ask for any of the ladies names but the two ladies that helped us were so sweet and accommodating to my family. My three kids had a pre exam prior to meeting with Dr. Elias and the young lady was so kind and patient with my kids. Dr. Elias was very clear about his opinion on what my children needed and he did an amazing job with them! We ended up picking out a pair of glasses for my daughter and we loved them! My review is based solely off my experience of purchasing optical frames. I was on the hunt for a pair of Chanel frames since I've always wanted a pair. I haven't bought myself a new pair of frames in almost 5 years and I thought given the longevity of my current pair... I could afford to splurge a little. There are very few authorized Chanel vendors and I found this one through Yelp!. Given the reviews I was not expecting much in the sense of customer service but I was pleasantly surprised. The associate who helped me, forgive me for forgetting your name, was very patient and allowed me to look at everything without getting an attitude. At one point, she did have to help a customer but she told me to help myself to anything in the cases since they open. After browsing by myself, I found two pairs that I was very interested in... and she listened to me ramble and try to make my decision so she could ring me up. In the end, I decided on the Chanel pair since that's what I've been wanting. The sales associate also very graciously quoted me on lenses based off my old prescription and the prices were pretty reasonable and sounded average compared to the 3-4 places I shopped. If I didn't end up purchasing with Kaiser and using my insurance, I probably would have came back here. read more
