Staff were kind and friendly. I walked into the office with 25 years of problems built up plus a recent report from and ER visit to help the doctor with her exam. From the first hand shake Dr. Sacon was watching how I walked, checking the weight of the purse I carry, she herself walking backwards to her office as she lead me there. Already I had a feeling that I was going to like her - already I did not feel like a number. We discussed my issues and when/how they came to be and decided where to begin the focus of treatment. During her first treatment on the back, she also noticed another condition that might exist in my body's chemistry and we are treating me like I have it to see if my body responds which is part of normal diagnosis for it. I found it a fascinating catch and did match symptoms to which regular doctors had simply said "I don't know" to and then sent me out their doors. I was also given some beginning exercises to work on to begin rehab. I am not a simple case and it will take time to address various issues and I will have to do my part in this. If you don't do the work, don't expect the result. Dr. Sacon tells you the truth of what she sees and thinks can be treated, and doesn't lead you on with miracle overnight fixes. For some, overnight fix might be all they need as others, like me, are more complex in their build-up and cause of injuries. The doctor also does not force a schedule on you allowing you to determine what works best for you and your own busy life. By a couple days after first actual manual treatment on my low back, I actually noticed the overall pain in it was reduced. Honestly wasn't even expecting that. I will be staying with Dr. Sacon and her great attention to detail for a while to see what kind of progress we can make.

I gave this Quack medical reports showing objective proof of injury and showing that I am a surgical candidate for my left shoulder. I have a left elbow flexion contracture since 2012 due to a triple crush on my ulnar nerve and this Quack in the first ten minutes thought she could straighten my left elbow. She reported that she straightened my left elbow in which she did not! I would straighten my own damn elbow if it were not frozen at 45*. I was a fool to let her touch my left arm. I also suffer with  a HAGEL lesion on my left shoulder. A tear from ten to 3 o clock and this Quack ignored this fact and ignored my MRI arthrogram while pulling on my left arm anyway so hard I felt my shoulder rip down to my middle back on my left side. I ended up in the emergency room that day in horrific pain and I have been in horrible pain in my left elbow and shoulder under my left shoulder blade down my back next to my spine ever since causing me to see my primary doctor twice for this injury. Moreover, because I am on worker's comp this medical Quack thinks she can ignore the 32 current medical reports that I gave her and she even doubted that I was telling the truth about my accepted conditions. Traveler's insurance drug me through court for four years even with objective proof of injury. I have suffer horribly with these injuries so I do know what the hell my accepted conditions are. This Quack expressed doubt about my accepted conditions as if I would lie about this to her. She expressed that she did not believe me. It was a painful, humiliatingly and abusive experience.  Not a good way to start a doctor patient relationship and she even invited me back. There is no way in hell that I would return.  So I do not recommend this doctor for any patient with serious injuries on worker's comp or not. Beware!

Over time, there have been repeated issues with communication, documentation, and coordination related to my workers' compensation case. This is not based on a single interaction. For example, during a prior visit, I was not provided a work release note, which created confusion when I later tried to follow up. When I called to clarify, I was told there was nothing further available, without additional explanation or effort to resolve the gap. Earlier in my claim, there were also instances where documentation had to be corrected retroactively so that my work status accurately reflected my condition and I could receive appropriate compensation. I understand these cases involve multiple moving parts, but situations like that reinforce how important consistency and accuracy are from the start. During my most recent visit, I was asked whether I felt "medically stationary." I explained that I am not a medical professional and not qualified to make that determination. That should come from the provider after a complete evaluation, including coordination with all treating professionals. In my case, both my physical therapist and aquatic therapist had not yet been consulted. The medically stationary status was marked as "not sure," which I appreciate, because it reflects that a full evaluation had not yet taken place. However, the conversation leading up to that point felt rushed and, at times, framed in a way that placed pressure on me to answer something I should not be responsible for determining. Another concern was how the conversation was framed around "moving forward" and "closing the claim." These are things I have expressed over the past two years. I do want to move forward. However, hearing those same phrases reflected back in this context felt misaligned, especially when key steps like coordinating with my therapists had not yet been completed. It gave the impression that my own words were being used to support a timeline that had not been fully evaluated. Wanting to move forward does not mean skipping necessary steps, it means making sure everything has been properly reviewed so that the next step is accurate. I was also told that "this isn't a game" and that "this is my life." I agree with that completely, as I've been saying that throughout this process. But in that moment, it felt less like support and more like pressure, especially when I was being asked to weigh in on something I'm not qualified to determine. Statements like that carry weight, and in a workers' compensation setting, they can come across as pressure if not paired with thorough evaluation and coordination of care. A patient should not feel responsible for advancing the process without full clinical guidance. After two years of navigating this process, I have been consistent in what I've communicated. The issue is not a lack of clarity on my end, it's that those concerns have not always been fully reflected in follow-through. What stands out most is the pattern: moments where communication breaks down, documentation is inconsistent, or decisions move forward without full coordination between providers. In a workers' compensation case, those details directly affect treatment, recovery timelines, and stability. For context, my injury involves the hip, and my background is in aquatics. I am a swimmer, water polo player, and artistic swimmer, and have worked in aquatic environments for many years. The hip is central to nearly every movement, and recovery requires careful, progressive rehabilitation. I have only recently returned to the water, which is a key part of my recovery. Given that, discussing whether I am medically stationary at this stage, without full coordination across my care team felt premature and not fully aligned with the recovery process. I do want to acknowledge that the physical therapy team, especially Andy, has been excellent. That side of care has been thoughtful, consistent, and a very positive part of my experience. Despite the concerns above, I still look forward to continuing care here. I have been in a vulnerable position throughout this process, and I recognize the ways Dr. Joan Takacs and the team have supported me. Edit: Since writing this review, I received a letter dated March 26, 2026 stating that Dr. Takacs is withdrawing from my care and canceling my upcoming appointment. I think she's booked out because she's experienced and that puts I'm her in demand. The staff do seem stressed over Covid which is understandable. They have you wait in the entry and do a temp check before you can come in so if you barge in, it brakes protocol and you just ignored the big sign in the front so that's understandable if they are frustrated by those who don't pay any attention to their surroundings..

While he is capable of a friendly bedside manner, his host of administrative issues and ethically questionable billing practices negatively impacted me--and my health. I would advise others to seek another primary care provider. I scheduled a wellness visit with Shay (Dr. Hosseinion's first name) online a year ago after moving to Portland. During this first visit, we talked through my medical history and he also refilled two existing prescriptions from my prior MD. No physical exam beyond listening to heart/lungs. He wrote me a letter for my employer stating that he had seen me "for an annual wellness visit." Finally, he ordered a single blood test; I declined the standard panel. After the appointment, he billed my insurance company for $390. I wrote to ask about this--my last handful of wellness exams/physicals were covered at 100%--and he told me the care I received was defined as a "problem visit," offering to see me for a second visit to use the wellness exam benefit. I spoke with my insurance company, who confirmed the visit should have been billed as a wellness appointment plus an additional code for extra services. I contacted Shay's offsite billing office to request this change. I was willing to pay for the appointment, but believed it was billed improperly, resulting in an unfairly high balance left to me. It took one year of calls every month or two to get a response: No, he will not change the billing to include the wellness code or compromise on the balance. Why did it take so long to get a response? Per the billing office rep: "There's nothing we could do. We're not in his office. He's very hard to reach." In the meantime, I decided not to return for a second "wellness" visit, as Shay suggested, after my insurance company told me that getting lab results but billing for a wellness visit would be fraudulent. Instead, I waited a month, then requested a copy of my lab results three times in December. And again on Jan 4th. And again on Jan 10th. Finally, I called the lab, where a tech assured me the results were delivered to Shay in late November, less than 24 hours after the test. I sent Shay an email expressing my dismay at the wait; he did not apologize, but said they'd mail me a copy. I waited another couple weeks. When it didn't arrive, an assistant told me it was lost in the mail. I finally went to the office in person and got a paper copy. In the midst of this, the billing office told me part of the reason I wasn't receiving an invoice was because they had the wrong address on file for me - received from Shay's office (which had a copy of my driver's license). In any case, the labs showed a treatable medical issue -- something I would have liked to have known about ASAP. All told, it took me about two months to get that piece of paper. About six months later, and some eight months after the initial appointment, I got an email from Shay. He said he had my lab results and asked me to schedule an appointment. He said he found a problem in them. I would have appreciated more timely, accurate and honest communication from this physician and his assistant regarding billing and my lab results. I could have been informed during my visit that the wellness billing code would not be used in any way (using it plus another code could have, per the insurance company, mitigated some of the cost). Because such communication was lacking (and because this doctor wrote a letter to the opposite effect), I think some compromise on the final balance due would have been fair. Shay had paperwork explaining that refilling prescriptions could result in additional billing, but I could not have predicted that the entire visit would be coded to the maximum possible reimbursement. I think it is unfair to expect lay people to have this level of knowledge, particularly as there is a variance among providers in billing practices for these visits. At the least, I would have expected timely communication of my lab result. I would have begun taking a needed supplement months earlier if I had seen my lab results, and would have appreciated a simple acknowledgement that my health was comprised when I didn't receive it. For what it's worth, I paid my bill in full before submitting this review, and within days of hearing back from the billing office.

I met with Sam, and we worked on a recovery plan involving PRP. Within 8-10 week I was fully healed, lifting weights, doing pull-ups, living life like it never happened. I later went on to utilize the same approach on multiple other tendinopathy issues with Sam. Recently (Oct. 2025) I had a rotator cuff flare up and once again PT just wasn't cutting it for my recovery. I found out Dr. Sam had opened his own clinic, met with him, and he meticulously combed through my shoulder with the ultrasound device and we pinpointed some definite spots that needed some love. Within 30 minutes I was in and out-- and I couldn't even feel the pinch of the needle. Sam and Karla (front desk) are kind, thorough and I truly felt like they had my best interest at heart, and weren't just shoving treatment at me for a quick buck.
