It's pretty easy to figure out where you need to go and which platform to be on for a train in or out. I think there are 20-30 different platforms. We took a DB (Deutsche Bahn) to and from the Black Forest without any issue. The trains are clean, smooth, and FAST!

There are lots of restaurants, amazing bakeries, and coffee shops to choose from and if you wait inside in the restaurant area, you must make a purchase. Unfortunately, the train schedule is quite different on Sunday and we ended up having to leave the bullet train and get on a smaller train at another platform, carrying luggage up and downstairs. Then we drove a while longer on the train and then had to change trains yet again. We are so grateful to the people who helped us finally get to our hotel!

It's definitely a very busy station with commuters and it is well designed for lots of foot traffic and transitioning passengers from the platforms to the street level. Several exits. The station is served by EIGHT S-Bahn stations (S1-S6, S8, S9) and six U-Bahn lines (U1-U3, U6-U8) which must be some sort of record. On the S-Bahn, it's between Taunusanlage and Konstablerwache. There is a decent amount of underground shopping and the usual automated ticketing kiosks.

One of Frankfurt's main train stations, this one is more of a "through" station than a terminus…read morelike the Hauptbahnhof but it still serves the U-Bahn and the S-Bahn. It is in the Sachsenhausen district that is south of the Main river. Easy pedestrian access and with plenty of road access, a block off the main Schweizer Straße that goes through all of Sachsenhausen. I found the station extremely easy to negotiate and exit, heading towards my restaurant for dinner.

From looking at the transport map it seems as if this station is actually the terminus as opposed to the main station because it seems that a lot of the trains pass through the Frankfurt Bahnhof, go in a loop under the city, and end up here. The thing that stuck in my mind was the the queue at the McDonalds was horrendous. In fact it was so bad that we decided to jump on the train and get some dinner back at the main railway station.

There is food and even groceries in the basement area. WC is available as well. But this is so complicated to find your platform. We missed our train because we could not find platform 3. Lots of signage, most of which is in German and in English but it's not that hard to find an "S5" train and wait for it to arrive. There are the usual automated ticket vending machines and at least the S-bahn station is handicap accessible with escalators and a lift from the street to the platform. The name of the station is Kobstablerwache, which translates to constable watch-house. This refers to the armory that was built here in 1544 and though the actual building is gone, the name has stayed.

Taunusanlage actually refers to a section of the now demolished city walls, named in the 19th…read morecentury but here we are in the 21st and there's an underground S-Bahn Station here that is mostly underneath the Taunusanlage park. A popular station due to its proximity to the nearby skyscrapers and office buildings, its entrance escalators are next to the Deutsche Bank Twin Towers. Taunusanlage serves all nine of the S-Bahn routes between Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof and Hauptwache. It has handicap access with escalators from street level. There are the usual automated ticket vending machines.
