i have not ever been treated so badly at a hotel.
the room offered was off site, not far but not in the hotel itself. It was dark, smelled of dampness. I refused the room. i was charged anyway because i had not canceled in time and i was listed as "no show" on booking.com.
i returned to the hotel to try not to be charged for the room: first they say, "now we have a room", this is after i had checked into a different hotel at 2x the price, the receptionist was not wearing identification refused to tell me her name or to let me talk to her supervisor. i have asked asked booking.com to help me this. i am an older woman, and i was traveling alone. I know they would not have put their own mother in that room. I am not saying it was because i was a single traveler, but it is not unheard of. read more
