Took so so much time out of his life to hold after hours nutrition classes for patients and cared for every decrepit soul in the neighborhood, including me. In a shabby-chic touristy town he took a lot of care to look after the locals of every income level, in addition to providing urgent care for the well off who were passing through. My husband went in for a bad hip and he immediately got him to a competent physical therapist. When I had a bad bladder infection, I was told to come in right away, and they expeditiously took care of getting me on the right antibiotics. Doctor Congden also prescribes me psyche meds and is very knowledgeable about them; something I wasn't prepared for; only 'cause a lot of primary doctors I've dealt with in the past, seemed to only possess minimal knowledge about them. Not to brag, but I read compulsively about mental health and the current pharmacology used to treat it, and usually have found myself knowing more about the recent research than my primary's did. However, this is not the case with Doctor Congden. He is really current on the latest research and empirical efficacy of these drugs, so I feel comfortable in knowing that he really knows what he is talking about. His staff seems very knowledgeable as well, and are always, courteous and kind.

However, my doctor referred me to Palmetto because my insurance company no longer wanted to pay facility fees. Doctors office sent in order to Palmetto for my cancer treatment, marked stat because I was already 2 treatments behind due to the insurance issue. My doctor's office was told by Palmetto that I could get treatment there. I called every few days to check on when I could get treatment, was told they have a process to follow and that I would get a welcome call within a week. Again told they did administer my medication there. After 3 weeks of waiting and getting further behind on treatment, I received a call saying they actually do not administer my medication at their clinic. Precious time wasted! So I am very disappointed in their lack of communication.

The front office personnel are not able to coordinate administrative details including management of a simple IVR (Integrated Voice Response system). You cannot count on the front office to connect with the doctor in a timely fashion when you most need them to do so. A heatlh care system is more than a smiling doctor. It is a SYSTEM to provide the patient (customer) the services required at ALL times. This office does not and probably cannot do that. They do NOT seem to understand that the patient is the CUSTOMER without whom the provider has no ability to exist.

The office is lovely with a concierge feel to it. His equipment looks to be new and cutting edge current. This was quite refreshing after having experienced the very large group practice that I had initially started out with, who seemed to own the Grand Strand, leaving patients with very little in the way of options.
