Our table shared the Alaskan Sea King crab legs (fresh and sweet, but pricey for just 2 legs) and calamari (the buttermilk batter gave it a unique flavor and well seasoned). I had the Salmon chowder (thick and creamy and very rich). Wild Alaskan king salmon (probably the most disappointing dish. Wasn't that much more flavorful than the sockeye salmon, and my piece had a few bones. For such an expensive dish, I had higher expectations). Overall, probably one of the better seafood restaurants in Anchorage, but expect to pay higher prices for it. read more

We ordered... APPETIZERS- STUFFED RAVIOLI: Very cheesy and airy at the same time. I loved the pesto and marinara on the side, made the dish! DEVILED EGGS: We weren't really a fan, especially for $7 we thought it should've came with at least two more deviled eggs, literally got half of one each lol. MAINS- ALASKA COD: Best part of our meal hands down. The hummus, carrots, and cod complimented each-other really well and the crispness was on point! BAKED MAC & CHEESE: Definitely something you would wanna share. Everything was really creamy! It wasn't as cheesy or gooey like how I usually like my mac & cheese but the portion size, burnt cheese on top, and the seafood inside this dish was delicious! If you aren't sharing this dish I wouldn't recommend getting this but if you are then it's definitely good! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Friendly and accommodating. I kinda wish they paid more attention to detail when serving us.. for instance we wanted to have our mac and cheese to go since the portion was pretty big but the waiter threw it away on accident.. lmao. Really like the atmosphere and vibe here. Very warm and inviting. Promptly greeted by a lovely hostess and manager. As i was dining alone, I opted for bar seating. The bar area is huge and offers full service menu. Every employee I made contact with was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Barrel aged Negronis and Manhattans. We are off to a great start. King crab corn dogs?! Never in a million years would I think this could work--but it does. Fresh king crab and scallops are mashed together so they can be formed, bartered and deep fried to perfection. Served with whole grain dijon mustard. Simply a luscious guilty pleasure and a must have at Orso. Prosciutto wrapped black cod. Wow. This makes me not want to never order halibut again! Wonderful execution. Melt in your mouth juicy black cod wrapped in salty cured prosciutto. Surrounded by grilled fennel, onion, fingerling potatoes, tomatoes and a mild marsala sauce. Not part of the regular menu. Nightly special. The tiramisu was outstanding. Espresso soaked lady fingers with incredible layers of zabaglione. Light, rich, creamy. Sort of deconstructed on the plate in a unique presentation. Great service and yummy food. Husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary and received excellent service from our waitress. Our drinks were replenished quickly and food was served at a great pace. Food was delicious, had the filet mignon and the Tuscan pasta. Both cooked to perfection and well balanced. It can be pricey, but I always seat myself in the bar, which has better prices for happy hour. You can't go wrong with the house salad, whatever wine is featured, or anything, for that matter. The service and the atmosphere were excellent, our waitress was really great. Unfortunately, both my wife and I ordered the stuffed rockfish. Both of our plates were served with raw fish. The appetizer and dessert were both good but...and it is a big but...when you spend over $100 for a dinner for 2 you expect the fish to be cooked. Both plates were not just undercooked, but the fish in the middle was raw. The waitress and chef both agreed. The chef said it was because it was a blood vein, but that is a poor excuse for why the middle of both plates was raw. Unfortunately, I will not be in any rush to ever go back. read more

The food was wonderful! My group ordered the crab cakes to start with. They were full and had a good quantity of meat. I had the chicken parm and the only thing bad was I was staying at a hotel. I couldn't take my leftovers with me. The waiter was excellent and paid the right amount of attention. He was very helpful with the menu. He apologized profusely for the service and made it clear that we are encouraged to return and see the guarantee of fine service to accompany fine food. She has big personality and fun to chat with. She makes us feeling so welcomed. During happy hour, only a few beer selection on the menu. Our favorite is blonde. Discount on small plate appetizers. Appetizer Tower: Spicy Calamari - Not spicy at all.... lots of batter. Crispy Ravioli - Not too crispy.... not sure they are freshly made. Tenderloin Tips - the meat is tender but only a few pieces We didn't like the food at all. The appetizer tower is $18. Regular price on the menu is $28!!! Ate dinner here with my wife. We stayed at the hotel across the street and ate here on the recommendation of our tour guide on the train ride up to Anchorage. Both of felt it was best meal we had in many months. I had halibut and she had an arugula salad with figs, walnuts and roasted apples. She also had the Marsala glazed tenderloin tips appetizer. So I've been super behind on yelping. My husband and I went to Orso back in December for our 3 year wedding anniversary. It's a really pretty and cozy restaurant, especially on a cold winter day. We ordered the toasted ravioli as the appetizer and we each ordered the ribeye. The toasted ravioli was meh, nothing special. We had a great meal here, which helped to offset the mediocre meal we had at the steakhouse down the street the night before. Service was on-par, great drink menu, and a nice interior and atmosphere. Arrived at our hotel at 5:00 PM and found this restaurant close to the hotel with good reviews by Yelp standards. Great food and service. Unfortunately I found neither. We order the fried Calamari as an appetizer, tasted ok, very oily, the oil was not hot enough when the calamari was being cooked. Service extremely slow and inattentive. I ordered the chicken parm which was cooked ok, crunchy crust, I believe they used Panko breadcrumbs, very little sauce and mozzarella over dried spaghetti which was supposed to have pesto as the sauce, Dry, dry, pasta, the pesto and pasta should have been finished in the pan with pasta water to insure the pasta was well coated. Wish they steamed it more because I did get a few frozen chunks. Server told me fresh caught crab requires immediate cooking and packed frozen or else it spoils. I ordered the crab stuffed rock fish with cauliflower mash. Hands down the best fish fish I've ever had! Desserts aren't the best - creme brûlée with raisins, tiramisu, and chocolate cake. Not only was the food delicious -- the grilled seafood spiedini is a must -- but the service was spectacular. We were lucky to have David as our server! He stopped by right after we were seated to get our drink orders and appetizers in.
