She was very considerate and help me deal with a 6 foot snake in my residence by my bedroom and I was able to book an appointment the following day from 8 AM to 10 AM because right now it is 2 PM so first thing in the morning, but I don't know how much sleep with a snake bye-bye bed, but the service is very kind and helpful. Need to wait 4 days to receive follow up treatment for a problem Orkin never resolved or bothered to investigate the source. I do not recommend Orkin for any of your needs. They talk a good talk until you pay them. First time I got pest control. I was told someone would check back with me in about a month. I never heard back. Many months later I get a email that a service was done at my house. When I asked my service guy about this, he had no idea what I was talking about. There is absolutely No communication. Then I made a huge mistake hiring them again to do new insulation in my cross base. 1st guy comes and does a horrible job. He put new over top of old. When I was told the old would be taken down. Insulation was coming down over wires versus being tucked up and under. Probably would have been a fire hazard. Then I was sent a new service guy to fix the job. For a second time old insulation still not taken down. Many areas of ply board not covered. I personally could have done a better job then this. Doesn't take a brain scientist to know all boards must be covered. I can't get my service man to answer my phone calls or emails. They obviously don't know how to do this job. I shouldn't have to babysit a big company like this to do a proper job. I don't feel like I'm asking for something special. Extremely disappointed. No matter how nice they are save your time and find a company who takes their work and business seriously. read more

I'D GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD. TERRIBLE COMPANY. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY OF YOUR NEEDS. Poor business practices. Plenty of pest control companies out there go with a reputable one. Misleading from the minute I got on the phone with them. I was verbally told their services are $65 a month after the initial service fee of $230+ and could service ground bees/bees/wasps. After the initial service I've had them come out 3 times for the same issue. On the 4th trip, the technician states " its not his route and Orkin do not service for ground bees," sprayed my windows and left. Someone came out to my home to inspected and told me someone would come out the following week. I waited the entire day and no one showed up, no phone call or anything. I called and had to schedule it myself. No one in the company is on the same page. I canceled the service after about 45 days and then was told I would be paying an additional $65 as a part of the bi-monthly plan i was on. I had to call back and literally argue with the service rep to keep the service that I was paying for for the additional month. Tried to cancel the service today and they are they are trying to make me pay for another month. No way in hell am i paying for another month with this company. read more

I would give one star if I could. Incredibly unprofessional and lazy. We were promised an excellent service, and instead, were met with only disappointment and frustration. We have had to chase Orkin to finish the job itself, and the work they have done is messy and half-completed. The company has had to come out 8+ times to finish this one job- at my request. (we have a 1200 sq foot townhome- it's just not that big). On several occasions, the work was deemed "complete." Meanwhile, they left mouse feces and urine, broke the ladder to the attic without notifying us, left trash, and didn't even finish completing the tasks we were promised. They have rescheduled more appointments than they have kept. Not to mention, we saw two mice in our kitchen yesterday- this is after the inspector signed off on the project (not to forget, I even had to ask him to come look over his own job). How this company believes they can charge premium prices for their work is incredibly appalling. As first time home buyers, we are extremely disappointed and do not trust Orkin to protect our home. We have had Orkin service our property for more than a decade. Our technician, Otto, is top notch! He thoroughly treats exterior (and interior, as needed), including our sheds. He even uses a pole brush to sweep away cobwebs around the exterior of our windows! We've had zero issues with Orkin. They provide us with accurate 2-hour timelines of arrival, and again, our technician, Otto, is great! read more

I just terminated my account with Orkin because they increased my bill from $91 per quarter to $126 without any notice or explanation. That is a 27% increase, which I find incredible. I called to complain and they said the contract I signed allows them to raise their fee at any time. This rate increase comes shortly after Orkin acquired my previous pest control service, PermaTreat, which I had been using (and was happy with) for many years. I've given them 2 stars only because I was happy with their service -- I'm just very angry over this egregious rate increase. It's simply price gouging, pure and simple. read more

ABSOLUTE WORST!!! I have been an Orkin customer for 11 years and I just canceled today. They haven't gone downhill...they are underground!! The techs are lazy, they don't listen and they do the bare minimum. I have tried to speak with a Service Manager for 3 weeks and no one has bothered to call back. After literally having to become a detective to find the Corporate phone..I called and no one has bothered to call back. Unfortunately, you have to leave at least one star but frankly, I wouldn't even spit on a review star for them. read more

I had to post this unfortunately negative review to warn other people should they choose this service for rodent problems. It's a complete rip off- while they were friendly and the services they said they would provide sounded amazing, in the end they did nothing more than set down the most basic of glue traps and bait and basically told me that due to having decks and being close to the some wooded areas mice were inevitable. They stated they searched for holes around the perimeter and found none, which we've identified since then due to a competitor company. They also tried to scam me by panicking at the notion my attic needed to have a complete re-haul in its insulation (when our rodent problem was strictly in the basement and clearly coming in from decking etc). When we insisted they search further for entry points, they just simply said it could be from anywhere. Very unhappy, I could basically do what they did on my own by setting glue traps and some bait. There are other competitors who can provide more insight into rodent problems. read more

This company is a complete disaster. Any and all interaction with Orkin Fairfax is accompanied by aggravation, stress, incompetence, unprofessionalism and rudeness. Orkin Fairfax manager Paul seems to set the tone for the office. He is dismissive and rude, hiding behind his staff and avoiding any communication with customers, leaving it to others to field phone calls and complaints. Can only imagine how he badly treats his own staff if this is how he treats paying customers. I had only 2 services, both of which were absolutely horrible experiences. Finally, I'd had enough, refused the third quarterly service and asked for a full refund. I've left at least a half a dozen messages for Paul with receptionists and at least 2 other managers. They have all assured me that Paul received my messages (before and after his vacation), yet he has refused to return my call and hear my complaint in person, or refund my money. When I called again last week to follow up, the receptionists told me my account doesn't even exit. Technicians have all complained about the office environment and have told me that all the former Western customers are bolting. Not suprising at all. It is an awful company with awful customer service and awful, incompetent, unprofessional staff from top - down. They are a nightmare to deal with and an even bigger nighmare when they actually show up at your house. I am out $500 and nearly a year of aggravation and stress, which is not worth it for a pest control company that can't identify bugs or provide a service visit without breaking parts of your house off. That's a large amount of money and I want it back, should be even more considering the damage they've caused me. But I can't get anyone from Orkin to even call me back. So, there you go. You decide if you want to be their customer. read more

Techs are terrible, never tried to solve any issue. Had mice issues and the tech said nothing could be done. Threw down glue traps. Would not even fill their own bait traps! Had hornets, tech said it was an additional $250 and if I didn't remove it they would kill my children. Kept asking me to renew the contract. Called the supervisor, said hey, would love to renew but I need you guys to take some action. They sent someone out to talk to me, he said listen I have no authority to help. The tech is going to do what they are going to do. I'll have my supervisor call you. No one ever called me. Spent $100 at Home Depot. Took care of all my issues with bait and glue traps. Killed 15 mice or so. And I will never allow orkin in my house again. They are absolutely terrible and charge money to do absolutely nothing. If you're in Fairfax, beware of getting ripped off. read more

Stay away from Orkin! They showed up twice in the same week unannounced & unscheduled when I wasn't home and sprayed their mosquito treatment (with my cat in the backyard). They over treated my yard (a total of 5 times over a 3.5 week period) which they will even tell you is an unsafe amount of pesticides to use . Orkin is obviously very careless with their pesticides, having children and pets this doubly infuriates me. The list could go on about the customer service problems and the receptionist was really rude. read more

STAY AWAY!!! TRIED TO SELL US NEARLY $10,000 OF INSULATION WE NEVER NEEDED We have been customers for years since they took over Western Exterminators with whom we had prior termite service. We've had an annual termite inspection warranty for years with Orkin. Recently, I called them to inspect our home if we have active termites. We do not. However, he noticed we have mouse droppings and then proceeded to send us a contract (unsolicited), to get us to buy $9,700 worth of attic insulation!! He never even tried to locate the point(s) of entry of the mice but somehow, buying insulation was the answer. I'm not an expert but I believe mice-in-the-house 101, dictates that you find the point(s) of entry, mitigate those and you should have the problem corrected. Furthermore, in trying to sell us this insulation, he never went in the attic, to even see what we currently have. For all he knew we had very the insulation he was trying to sell us. Obviously, we immediately realized they were trying to rip us off to the tune of thousands of dollars. BEWARE! We are dropping all future service and never doing business with them again. This is how they treat long-time customers. There are other trustworthy companies out there. Shop around and stay away from them. read more

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. We contacted Orkin for pest control services on a home we just purchased. The technician came to our home and sprayed the inside and treated the outside (yard) for mosquitoes. He mentioned that there were some spiders in our basement which he set traps for and sprayed for. About 4 days later I noticed spiders in our basement and called back for a between service appointment. I called on a Monday to set it for Wednesday of the same week, then had to call back to reschedule. When I spoke to a representative she said she could not access the system to change my appointment (I didn't realize appointment scheduling systems were this complicated), and that someone would call me back to reschedule the same day (Monday). After not hearing from anyone, I called back the next day to reschedule my appointment, and after being on hold for about 20 minutes was finally able to reschedule after requesting to speak to a manager. About an hour after rescheduling, a rep called me back asking about the appointment I scheduled for a "smelly attic". I had at no point on any call or in-person meeting with folks at Orkin mentioned my attic. On a separate thread, I also was trying to set up my online account for services I had initially purchased (before the above fiasco). I entered my address and account number at the website on my service order, and was unable to set up an account, and was prompted to call customer service. After being on hold for about 45 minutes to speak with someone, I was informed that a rep would call me back to resolve this. Five days later and still no call, I mentioned this to the manager I spoke with in the Fairfax office. He notified me that he had no idea how the online system worked, and had no idea who to contact. For a customer trying to set up a mechanism to pay for service to have this much difficulty doing what should be a mundane task, seems a bit ridiculous. This combined with the seemingly incompetent customer service is enough reason for me to never think about using Orkin for anything again. I guess I should've read the other reviews before proceeding! Ironically, the one thing I was able to do with relative ease was cancel my service. read more

it Must be really hard for Orkin to keep appointment. I bought a house and wanted to treat before i moved in. It could be easy job to spray house with out furniture , food, pets and kids. I had to take day off from work, drive to house for an 1 hour then wait for technician for 1 hour and then find out that technician can not come over. Now I have to delay to move in. Orkin is a big company and can not find a technician to serve a customers. Terrible service. read more

I should start out by saying that I have not used Orkin. This review is not based on their service but there customer service. I have had an unfortunate bug problem and I filled out a form online to get a consultation (shame on me for leaving my phone number). In the last three days I have received 15+ telephone calls from an "unknown" number. No one ever leaves a message. I finally answered the call and it was Orkin. Seriously?!!!! How does a huge company like this show up unknown on my phone and doesn't leave a message. I don't even care about the anonymous number as much as I do about the fact that they didn't have the courtesy to leave me a message, not once. I finally spoke to someone and begged them never to call me again. I am hopeful that I will not receive another telephone call. read more

Had orkin come out to our house in Falls Church. Were able to get an appointment one day after our request. They initially quoted $150 for a one time service of some ants we were seeing in our kitchen. We did NOT agree to a one year contract. The day of the appointment, the orkin Man starting talking about this one year contract we apparently agreed to on the phone the day prior. This was only after he handed my husband a contract and a big fat bill and we pointed it out. He finally stated we could pay for a one time service but that it would be $250. He only sprayed where we told him there were ants..the kitchen and my closet. He said the food wouldn't be effected where he sprayed but then told us not to go in the kitchen for 3 hours! He was obnoxious. Regardless, we are very disappointed in the services and I deeply regret using Orkin. We did call and complain though...they refunded us $100 but that was only after dropping the lawyer bomb. DONT USE THEM. read more
