I found this gem and it brought us to a beautiful, cleaner, trendier route. 'Dubai Matcha' was signature drink offer, but as a latte, it was DIVINE. Choco cold foam. Pistachio syrup. This place was not too far from our hotel--the moment we walked in we appreciated the open vibe and the variety of seating both inside and outside. I ended up getting the avocado toast with charcoal sourdough which was the first one I've had it and a matcha which wasn't too sweet (the way I like it). With so many coffee shops in Savannah, it's hard to try them all. I regret not visiting Origin in their old location because I have been missing out! I have been back a few times now and I truly think this is the best coffee downtown. With unlimited refills on the drop coffee, this is a great spot to post up for a little bit with a book or to get some work done. Bonus points for the cute swings seating area. I've heard lots of people rave about this place, and like that they were supporting the community during the shutdown, so I decided to give it a try with my bf. I ordered the Southern Frost, and my bf got a hot chocolate. First of all, I think it's a little expensive for the size you get. When the barista first told me my total, I thought I was a great price for a normal sized coffee. But then he handed me this tiny cup and I was confused. I wasn't even asked what size I would like, so I guess that's the only size they have. I was hopeful that the drink would be good enough that it wouldn't matter, but I was again, disappointed. My drink was supposed to have a blend of spices and vanilla and orange in it, but the drink was completely flavorless and tasted off. My bf's hot chocolate also had no flavor and tasted like spoiled milk. We ended up throwing them away half full after trying to convince ourselves to like them. I felt like I wasted a lot of money for tiny drinks with no flavor and an off taste. I'm hoping this was just an off day as I really wanted to like the place. I really liked this coffee shop. It is spacious and airy with lots of seating and sockets for charging your laptop. I got the mocktail (so yum) and got to work. I will say that it was fairly loud at 11am on a Friday, and because of the space, that makes the sound carry a bit more. It's a great place to study and hang out. We got to try three of the seasonal drinks--Golden Hour, Bouquet Latte, and Ube Bliss. My favorite was the Golden Hour I loved that you could taste the citrus and orange in the coffee. The Ube Bliss was alright to me, not enough ube. On a trip to Savannah our family of four stopped in to Origin after seeing the beautiful pictures of the shop and coffee drinks. The coffee shop is beautiful, bright and airy. They have a great selection of coffees. Although the lattes I ordered were excellent, the service was not great. They seemed upset we brought our kids in which seemed odd since they have high chairs. My husband took the kids out while I ordered and waited for our drinks. The staff member who took my order was unwelcoming. When I picked up the drinks at the counter I tried to ask a staff member a question and was ignored. When I did get a hold of someone they were also short and unwelcoming. Overall great coffee but did not seem welcoming for families. If you are looking for a seat it will be hard to find during the week as most people seem to work from there. In town for work and wanted some coffee. I found Origin on Yelp and decided to stop. It's very cute on the inside with lots of seating. I was able to order right away as there wasn't a line. I ordered a mocha and it came out in no time. I believe there is only one size, which is okay, but the price is pretty steep for a small cup of coffee. However, the quality was good. It was a beautiful day in Savannah. My wife and I decided to take our daughter out to a local playground as we were visiting from New York and she hadn't been able to play like she usually does. We put her on the swings next to a man swinging his daughter. We got to talking, bonded over being northerners originally and mentioned that we were super under-caffinated for the pace our vacation was taking. He mentioned that his name was Matt and that he and his wife owned Origin Coffee Bar. We eventually parted ways, saying that we would check it out. We did. That afternoon, I got an iced double espresso and my wife for a golden hour. They were both delicious. We went back the following day to grab coffee and a bite to eat. Again, I got a double espresso which was made perfectly. I got a sausage burrito and my wife had a baconeggncheese (iykyk) on sourdough, both being really tasty and hit the spot. We're thankful for having met Matt and being able to try out his phenomenal coffee spot. When we are back in Savannah, because we will be, we're hitting this spot up again. read more
