Used to go here for years and the prices have gone way up. Not like every other place raising their prices this one is exponential. It is now $18.95 to get one entree and fried rice. My family and I went to the Monroe location on Sunday evening shortly before 8 pm. The restaurant was not busy. We were trying to decide what we wanted to eat as we noticed they had removed the family dinners from the menu. The waiter, who has been there for many years, has no personality. He never smiles or greets you, he is very insistent that he takes your order immediately. We had placed our order for water and waited a bit before they were brought back. We asked him about the family dinners and he told us they were no longer available. Then asked what we wanted to order again. He was told that we were still trying to decide. He then replied well we close at 9 pm. At this time it was a mere 8:05pm. Sensing his attitude because we were not sure what we were ordering and that we only ordered water to drink, we did not like his tone and we decided to take our business elsewhere. 3 of us got up and left, the last one in our party was blocked in the booth by this rude waiter, as he started saying "yeah, thank you for coming in and drinking my water, no order anything," as he was snatching the water cups off the table. Our family won't be back. The people running the place are plain rude, and the prices of the food have gone up considerably. It used to be a decent place to eat but as for my family we will take our business elsewhere. read more

Best in Monroe!! Not the best in Atlanta Metro but very good for a small town Chinease restaurant. Most items are very good like the Hot sour soup and the lemon pepper chicken wings. Good dumplings but i have had better but still not bad. Hunan Shrimp is a great choice for dinner. read more

We have been customers at this location for a number of years. Our last few visits have been highly disappointing. Tonight was bad from every angle. it was a take out order, they answered the call asked me to hold as they had an animated argument with a customer. Next are the counter they realized my order was wrong I guess by the weight and removed 2 extra soups that were not ordered. When I placed the order they gave me an order number and a price, when I went to pay the price had gone up by 25%. Next, the entree was way below my expectations as to taste and texture, it was a dish I have had many times which has always been very good. Finally the health department grade sheet had no grade on it. As a former Restaurant owner I have never seen this, ido not know what it meant but to me it was unsettling. Most of the staff are unpleasant so I have little desire to return especially with poor tasting food. read more

This was my first visit to Oriental Garden. I must say that first impressions were good. The place is very modern and new looking on the inside. The only thing that bothers me is the big NO REFUNDS sign on the wall by the register. This does not promote a very customer friendly environment. I mean mistakes happen and not everyone will like your food, but to not offer refunds is just greedy in my opinion. Stopped in today for the lunch special ($6.95) "take out." My wife and I both had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice which came with an egg roll. In addition I ordered the hot sour soup lunch portion as an addition which was ($1) extra. As the food was being prepared I looked around and found the place to be clean, including the men's restroom. The latest inspection score was posted and it was in the eighties which was a bit disappointing. The food was good overall and the portions were large. The hot sour soup was not spicy enough for my taste and I ended up not eating all of it. Overall I give a rating of just slightly above average with hopes the management can improve its inspection score to at least ninety. Plenty of free parking is available. As a side note some staff wore masks and some did not wear masks. read more

beware of this place I went with my mother who is handicapped today we sat down. The owner older man came to our table, asked what we wanted to drink and we ordered a soup right when he brought the soup out he asked what we wanted to order we told him that we weren't ready and this is the second time this is happened. He gets angry that you're not ready and he did not come back to our table. He thought he would teach us a lesson not to be ready to order within three minutes of sitting down so we waited and waited. People left the restaurant. He helped everyone else until it was almost empty and he still didn't come to our table to take our order so I paid for our soup and our cokes and we left. This man should not be working with the public. He is very rude and very curt. My advice if you like their food know what you want when you get there because he will do the same thing to you he will not come back to your table. I used to live in Monroe and eat at Oriental Gardens all the time. Our favorite place to eat. A few years ago we left the area. Since leaving we have tried a multitude of Chinese restaurants, none live up to Oriental Gardens. We had to come to Monroe today and planned on eating there. This was all I could think of all day. When we arrived we seated ourselves as told. Then was waited on by an older Asian man who was so rude. He about threw the menu at me, we had no silverware or napkins, when asked he didn't even reply, we didn't think he heard us, so we asked again but he did hear us, he just was too rude to respond. Then I was freezing so I asked if he could turn down the air, he started going off on me about some wanted the air up, some down and he just couldn't change it. Needless to say it was an awful experience for someplace we have always loved. I gave 3 stars because I still love the food, but I will go to Loganville from now on. read more

The rice was bland. They egg rolls didn't taste handmade. I've had various eggs rolls from Chinese restaurants and I have never tasted an egg roll so horrible. They tasted like they were straight from a box. And they charged almost $4.00 for two. Also they don't offer combinations dinners. I wanted 6 wings and rice and they wanted to charge me over $12. The food is always pretty good, but the lady that runs the phone and counter is very rude. She has argued with me on several occasions that I am not in their delivery area (I am) and tonight was the last straw. Claimed she couldn't find my address, so I agreed to come in to pick up - again - and I would go over my address with her in person.....she was rude, literally laughing at me telling me they had never delivered to me (they have), so I wrote down my address and she looked it up and after showing her pictures of my odometer (4 miles), she finally acknowledged that I was indeed within their 6 mile delivery area. NO apology, just simply said thank you, good bye. I finally found a Chinese restaurant that has been consistently great. Love the sesame chicken, Mongolian beef and hot and sour soup!

This place used to be awesome. Our family is vegetarian and they would always happily use tofu for us in any of the meat dishes. We ate here or had delivery just about once a week and it was always delicious. I'm not sure if there are new owners, but the last few visits when requesting this we've been told it's not available or have been treated rudely. The sauces seem like they have been super sugared up and not as freshly prepared. It's a shame because we have enjoyed this place for years previously. read more

Prices are way too high, ($11 bucks for General Tso's chicken at 3:30?) the portions were not as generous as I'd like for spending that much either. Steamed rice comes with the meal and if you want fried rice you have to pay a $1.50 extra. You don't get an egg roll or soup or anything, just chicken and steamed rice. I was not at all impressed for the price. It did come out fast and hot which was nice but the taste was average and I just can't get over all that money for so little. They don't have forks either, only flimsy sporks which don't pick up chicken. Also a lady was sleeping in one of the booths... It was a little weird. Definitely won't return after lunch ends at 3, I would consider coming back to try to lunch portions though it's doubtful. read more

I like this place they have really good fried rice. I called my order in once and the lady asked me if I know where they was located I told her yes and she got really hateful was was like "where" . When I told her I knew where they was she's like ok 15 minutes and just hangs up. They need to learn some phone etiquettes cause that can run customers away. read more

I have been going here for years. The food is good/average. There are not many choices in Monroe. Every time we go eat in or dine out they get mad if you ask for spicy mustard. Most Chinese restaurants have it at the table. When I Pick up a to go order and ask for mustard they say there is ONE In there. Tonight I picked up a 55.00 order and I asked for spicy mustard and she barked that there were 2 in there I asked if I could have extra. She rolled her eyes and said "that be .54 cent. EVERYTHING COST. I wouldn't mind a bit paying for anything extra but that was one time to many being rude to me. I paid my .54 and said thank you and I would not be back. I wish I could give zero stars to write a review. They have delivered to us before and the food is marginal at best. This time I was told they could not deliver because we are too far. Our house is 3.3 miles away from the restaurant. Hmmm...then she wanted to argue with me. I asked her to look at a map and she couldn't. This is the 1st time I've experienced an Asian that could not check her own references nor access a computer.
