I recently found an apartment online with craigslist. I spoke to Liz O. on the phone who was very nice at the beginning. I had asked for pictures and for more information on the apartment. Upon looking at the pictures, I noticed that there was a dishwasher in the unit, and over the phone, I had asked if this was available in the price of the rent, she assured me that the price of the rent included the dishwasher. Throughout the two weeks of communicating with her, I noticed that it became a lot harder to get in touch with her, as she would not answer phone calls. I had made a list by e-mail about things that were wrong with the apartment, ie- DARK RED WALLS, HOLES FROM PAINTINGS, ELECTRIC OUTLETS NOT WORKING. She agreed to fix the "non cosmetic", but she would not answer these questions by email, only over the phone- so there was no paper trail left behind. As I went in to sign the lease, feeling iffy about it, nothing we had spoken about was on the lease, and she gave me nothing but attitude, and as I expected her to say, the dishwasher was not included in the rent- surprise surprise... She lied to my face about what she had said over the phone. The lease had a blatant mistake written in it, and when we called her out on this, and asked for proof, we were right-yet again. She had mentioned that the lease rate had not gone up in the last year, and they were increasing it 4% without any work being done. When I asked to speak to Tim the developer, she laughed in my face and told me he would not be able to do anything for me. I left without signing the lease, as I felt if I was being lied to within the first five minutes of dealing with orangedev that I would not be able to deal an entire year with this company. Do not deal with these people as they are liars and cheats. I have never been so disgusted in my life and they do not deserve anyones business. read more
