Several months ago I was hoping to get a new pair of lenses for frames that I already have, but that turned out to be not possible for a number of reasons. The lady assisting me tried to get me to buy new glasses, which I wasn't ready to do at the time, and when I told her I would read over the information she provided, she said, "you won't find cheaper glasses in Vienna." Ha! So, after having gotten contact lenses at Fielmann two years ago, I returned a few months ago to get my new glasses. I mean, Fielmann is the cheapest, right? And my previous experience, getting the contact lenses, was good, so why not? While this isn't my favorite place in the world, I will speak its praises when it comes to customer service and the glasses business. It's 2 floors of glasses on display (3 counting the contact lens basement), and full of people eager to help you find the right pair. I'm quite surprised that they offer the best prices in Vienna for glasses, because they do have a pretty wide selection of frames (name brand and "Fielmann" not-brand). My glasses, which are of the Fielmann not-brand variety, were like €30 for the frames, and I quite like them a lot. From the day I ordered them to the day I received an SMS indicating their readiness was 4-5 days total, and when I ordered them, the lady helping me this time around stayed until just after the store closed to assist me, because I'd gone straight from work, but it still took a while to choose a pair of frames, then re-test my eyes, then fill out all the paperwork, etc. She was incredibly patient, though, even with my poor German, and did not indicate any irritation with the fact that it was past 19:00 when I left. I was very gracious, to say the least. Insurance on my glasses (lenses and frames) was like €10/year or something stupidly cheap, which is a necessity for me given my propensity to scratch lenses and bend frames. I also liked that while I was informed of my different options for lens quality (better lenses are more expensive), when I asked about the benefits of better lenses, the lady was upfront and basically said that because my prescription is pretty weak, there wouldn't really be any benefit to me paying more for "better" lenses, so it would be wise for me to stick with the standard ones. I appreciate that kind of honesty and not pushing so hard to sell extras (although I don't mind being sold insurance!) All told, my experiences with Fielmann over the past 2+ years have been mostly positive, even when I didn't speak a word of German, so I can confidently recommend this place to other people.

While going home i was fielmann in shopping city nord Wien. I was suppose to work in morning and i asked customer service that is it possible to repair Arm of my glasses. Store was about to close but customer service not only repair my glasses but did not take a single Euro from me. I was amazed how they repair and put new arm attached for my glasses. I just was amazed and went again there next morning to buy new pair of glasses. I just loved them. They just have me now there long time customer Good job by staff from shopping city nord staff. Look and behold! There it was sitting in the window calling my name! Unfortunately, the frames were advertised for normal optical use. However, after speaking with the wonderful staff; he was able to exchange the lenses to sunglasses! It took about thirty minutes. So I did a little more shopping and it was ready for pick up! For me (oversized frames), it was perfect and I LOVE IT! Danke Schön!!

The top floor is dedicated to eye ware and yes the official stuff that you can use. The eyewear section even has a part set aside for children as well. Every time I have gone into this store, they tell me they are too busy and then I have to come back during the weekday. I went through this process once to get contact lenses, which required 5 minutes at an autorefractor. Unfortunately, my glasses broke and I was running short on contact lenses. I came on a Saturday and was told to come back on Monday. I came back on Monday (taking time off of work to be there) and was told I needed an appointment. Then, I was told to wait and did so for about 20-30 minutes. An optometrist (I think) came out and told me that I in fact did not need an appointment. She told me that in order to get my eye exam, I could not wear corrective lenses for 24 hours. In all my 31 years of being half blind, this has never been recommended to be me by an optometrist or eye specialist. Perhaps it was a lost in translation moment, as I am an American with a years worth of German experience or perhaps it was something else. Do yourself a favor and make an appointment with an ophthalmologist or optometrist- at least you know you have an appointment and get some help.
