This hotel is located within the Uptown Plaza which has a Walmart, many shops, restaurants (TGIF, Vips, La Casa de los Abuelos, Starbucks), plenty of secure parking, and very near a huge mall. Very walkable. The check-in was easy. Service was friendly and excellent. My room was spacious, clean, comfortable, had plenty of electrical outlets, black-out curtains, great views of the city, and equipped with drawers, a closet, ironing board with iron, coffee kit, pleasant lighting, TV with cable, mini fridge, and room safe. The bathroom was nice with a rain shower, sink, close-up mirror (scary!), and standard soaps, shampoo, towels, etc. I did have two issues with the bathroom: 1. The exhaust vent did not work (not a huge deal, but steam from the shower would cloud the mirror. More importantly, 2. The toilet is made to minimize water use, so if you deposit more than liquid, it would not flush. I had to fill the trash can with water from the sink to get it to flush. That was an annoyance. The hotel amenities include a small pool (nice to cool off, but no real swimming), a gym (which I did not see), a bar, and an excellent hot breakfast buffet. There is great security. When you enter from the mall and get to the elevator, you can only press L to access the lobby unless you are checked in and use your card-key. If you have your room key, scan it, and the elevator will recognize it and automatically select the floor of your room. You can only access the lobby or your room floor. So people can not just walk in and access floors where guests are without a key. Prices are moderate, lower than what you would pay for an equivalent hotel in the USA. If you need to get around, there are Ubers and taxis. I would definitely stay there again.

A fresh-feeling HGI location attached to a small mall. Pleasant experience for a 1-night stay…read more There's an airy foyer and large outdoor deck (with a small pool) overlooking the city, with views of Monumento a las Haciendas. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast at the restaurant isn't fancy but is substantial. The location is a bit far from anything else in Merida. The entrance is inside the mall. Dedicated parking is a bit limited but is very close to the entrance. There's additional shared parking. Other than a walmart, the mall shopping options are limited but there are several local restaurants and an outside-entrance Starbucks that keeps late hours. Quibbles: the room only had one hand towel, no washcloths. The fitness center is pretty minimal, with no mats for floor work. Internet felt a bit slow / disconnected sporadically (not great if you're working, but pretty common in hotels). Despite those few quibbles, this is a well-priced, solid offering and I'd stay here again.

Every morning you can get a delicious freshly prepared breakfast served to you out there and listen to the calming noise of the water fountain. The rooms are richly appointed (we always stay in the Mejorada) and well-kept. Service is excellent--they wait outside for you to arrive back every night to let you in! This is really a stellar experience and a great place to stay and experience one of North America's best cities.

This is an absolutely beautiful property with impeccable service. So many nice little touches like welcome drinks on arrival, little chichen it's shaped chocolates on your pillow at night with a special message, organic shower products made with Mayan honey, and of course their incredible breakfast service. At night, there is always someone waiting at the gate to let you in no matter what the tine. We stayed in the Mejorada room with is gorgeous with high ceilings and a jetted tub. Although Casa Azul has its traditional charm, it's definitely upgraded and renovated enough to provide modern conveniences. The air condition was very good, plenty of outlets to charge things, etc. Breakfast service is the standout and often was one of the best meals of our trip. Their chilaquiles is especially incredible but you can't go wrong with any choice. Raul provided exceptional service and also accommodated a speedier service one day when we had a tour to catch earlier in the morning. Luna in the office was always super helpful to answer our questions and give us tips. Location-wise, it's steps away from el Paseo Mantejo and we felt very comfortable walking at night to and from our hotel from the center. Casa Azul cannot be missed!

Como lo dice el nombre, Viva Merida! :D haha…read more So my bf and i were so excited to be visiting Merida for the first time but we also knew we had a long flight, so wanted a good place to rest. After checking out so many options we decided to wing it on this boutique hotel because we liked the architecture from the photos, and we read the breakfast was good (which is a must for us lol) So that day we landed and got a lil nervous because our taxi driver hadn't heard of it before, but once we drove close we noticed it was just as described, right in the middle of the historic center (awesome location!!). While i was finishing the check-in, my bf pointed out there was a huge glass door in an area that was different from the pics. But then, we were escorted to our rooms, we crossed that door and OMG! We were surrounded by beautiful colonial architecture with perfectly matched art and decor, and our favorite part: the inside patio, where we got to enjoy the weather while having a gorgeous peep of the sky during breakfast. Speaking of which, it was delicious! It's included on the room rate and it's a la carte, you can choose the night before so it's ready when you wake up. Loved the room, bed was comfy, ac worked perfectly, water bottles included, had a safe, nice couch area, pretty bathroom. Keep in mond the bathroom is upstairs, we had no issue but just as reminder lol The location is perfect. It's right on Calle 59, so it's within walking distance of the major historic places, restaurants, parks, museums, etc. Closest park is Santiago, there is a grocery store, oxxo, restaurant, spa and cinema around that one. A few doors down from the hotel there is an Atypico taco place that one of staff girls recommended, so good! Staff and service was excellent! Everyone was so nice and professional and helped with anything we needed. We also requested information about tours, and they booked for us in Kuxtal Tours. Honestly it didn't compare to the other ones we did, they were archeologists, very professional and knowledgable. Oh and last but not least, there is bar service at night so you can relax and get your drink on after a long day of walking around this beautiful city! So what is not to love about Viva Merida Boutique Hotel? I had an awesome stay and would definitely come back!

The moment you walk in, there is so much peace and tranquility even though on the main road (calle 62) there is a lot of noise with just the cars driving by. The VIP hotel only has 6 suites however we still had an outdoor swimming pool with lounge chairs. The rooms are quite spacious, clean, and comfortable. The super tall ceilings and decor of the hotel truly transport you back to the hacienda days in Mexico. I did partake on ordering drinks poolside since its so hot/humid out there so thats also an option. I didn't see many other guests there since people are usually out on their tours or walking around getting familiar with the city. The concierge are super helpful providing ideas/suggestions on things to do or would recommend places if you ask. One day it was raining and they brought me an umbrella to me right before I walked out for a tour. I would recommend adding a small fridge to the room just so guests can store water. This is a boutique hotel you definitely want to enjoy their well maintained facilities and take advantage of everything offered.
