Location: Located near Guatemala and Gurruchaga in Palermo Soho…read more The People: Good. The staff is great. Relative to staff in North America, the staff were very friendly. Pretty much all of them have greeted me, have asked me if I needed any help on my workout or wanted to try something new. You can always find one to help you out. I did like that about the attention staff puts on customers. The Venue: It has three floors. The first floor is free weights and usually there's group sessions going on. The second floor has a big stretch area, free weights and machines, as well as a spin room. In the top floor you have all the cardio equipment. Most of the equipment is in good condition. Coming from the United States it was a bit of an adjustment looking for kilograms instead of pounds but one gets used it to it quickly. The venue can get extremely busy, so I do recommend going between 2-5pm. Many people take naps around this time so the gym can be enjoyed much more with less people at this time. The membership was approximately $30USD/month (cash only) and I have no complaints about it. You do have to do a physical exam for $5 USD and it is pretty simple. Upshot: This is a pretty good gym to workout to in Palermo. Of course, I do not have any other gyms to compare it to, but I have gone to plenty of gym in North America and Europe, and can say I was content here, overall.

Always Club, never again…read more This gym is horrendous. Hot. Overcrowded. Smelly. 70% Retro equipment. 30% new, but cheap equipment. In desperate need of renovations. I'm not even sure the structure can support all the weight sitting atop of it. For $150 pesos/day, there must be a better alternative.

I took a wonderful Hatha Vinyasa class with Lara this morning at Ardha Yoga Estudio…read more I booked the class in advance on the app "SigueFit" (add $ first in order to select a class) & arrived at the studio early prepared with a translated synopsis of my situation: "I don't speak Spanish. I don't have a yoga mat. I practice yoga every day at home in the United States, so I can just watch the instructor. I need to rent a mat. If this is not okay, I understand & will leave. Thank you so much." The employee at the front desk was so nice & patient with me. She explained the layout of the studio & allowed me to rent a mat for $1000.00 (approximately $1 USD). There were lockers, showers, & a water refill station. The studio itself was spacious, well lit, & inviting. There were floor to ceiling mirrors on 3 out of 4 of the walls! This was a new experience for me, & I learned that I really liked it. Seeing my reflection allowed me to make minor adjustments to my movement & form. Lara was a great instructor. Since I understood less than 1% of what she was saying, I relied on visual clues & tone to follow the class. Her visual cues were so helpful & I learned the cadence of the class quickly through her tone. The class was slow paced (much slower than I'm accustomed to) but in this situation, it was perfect for me. The temperature of the studio was very comfortable - not too hot & not too cold. There were ceiling fans that provided a slight breeze. I saw on their website that Ardha mostly offers heated Bikram yoga classes, but the Hatha class was not heated. Finally, I noticed that the students were of all age groups & all levels of flexibility/experience, which I see as a major green flag. That says to me that not only is everyone welcomed, the environment is conducive to growing, learning, & personalized practice. Thank you Ardha & thank you Lara! If I'm ever in Buenos Aires again, I'll be sure to visit.
