We took this tour in March of 2024. Great experience. Our driver Mr. Hollywood was awesome. He knew a ton of history about the area and pointed out lots of sites that I never knew about. Mulholland dr had a detour so we got to see an awesome view of the surrounding neighborhood. Over all a great tour and worth the price. Also got 10% off from the gift shop for going on the tour. I've been meaning to write this for a while -- we took the Open Hollywood Bus tour on May 6, 2024, and it was an awesome experience. I'm a local and surprised my girlfriend with it as a fun date idea, and it totally exceeded expectations. Our guide was super entertaining and packed the ride with fun Hollywood stories, celebrity trivia, and cool local history. We saw all the big sights -- Hollywood Sign, Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills -- but what stood out were the gems like Musso & Frank Grill and the Blessed Sacrament Church, places I'd passed a hundred times but never really knew the history behind. Bonus: they hooked us up with a discount at a nearby souvenir shop too. Highly recommend this tour, even if you think you already know LA. Was very disappointed with this. My grandma was in town and wanted to some of the celebrity homes and sightseeing spots in LA. A lot of the houses are "5 stories down" as our guide kept repeating, so you wouldn't really see their house, just the rooftop or gates. I understand it's hard to see some of the houses because they're all gated, but it's not at all as advertised. Before we even got on the bus, one employee (possibly the owner?) was yelling at passengers to sit in different places, so that groups boarding the bus next were able to sit together. This is fine and makes sense, except nobody else boarded the bus and there were a ton of open seats. Everyone moved back to where they wanted once we finally got started. I say finally because we circled the block twice to begin, waiting for more passengers to board, who never did. Not even halfway into the tour, the microphone on the bus went out. Our driver & guide pulled over every 15 minutes or to provide us information for the tour. Maybe our group was just more educated on Hollywood and LA, but it felt like they had no interesting or new information to share. At one point my boyfriend even said it felt like he was just making it up as we went. If it's going to be under 70 degrees during your tour, bring a jacket, and maybe even a hat and scarf. It was low 60s when we went, but because of the no window bus style, we were freezing. For only ~$35 per person and a 2 hour tour, I guess you get what you pay for? I wouldn't do this again though, and don't recommend it for others. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1, honestly just because I feel bad. read more

Great tour. Our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable, great humor & a safe driver. Tour was a bit longer than we were anticipating but we had a really good time & enjoyed it. It was perfect weather for the ride - early January but sun was out & temp was good & it was a really beautiful day. :-) *The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the pics I saw in advance showed an open-top van but the van we had was only open on the sides. Not a big deal & still enjoyable but the open top would've been nice & I feel they shouldn't depict that if it's not going to be what they give. read more

Funny guide who was very knowledgeable. The tour itself wasn't ideal bc we got pulled over by a cop and rodeo drive was closed. (I'm sure its not a regular occurrence) Celebrity homes bit was cool but maybe show different parts of LA rather than the gates of celebrity homes. Gets a little meh after a while. Hilariously bad. I'll give our experience two stars because afterward we were so appalled that we agreed we'd never forget the it. I mean, we knew what we'd probably be getting from a tourist trap bus tour in Hollywood and had appropriately low expectations, but our girls thought they'd at least get to see one of Taylor Swift's houses (as advertised) and we'd get a drive around Hollywood without having to worry about actually driving. So fair enough. Low bar. But yikes, y'all. The tour was supposed to start at 5:30 but we didn't actually get moving until almost 6, whereupon the driver/guide (Magic Mike?) announced it would be getting dark so we "probably wouldn't be able to see shit." So all the celebrity homes that we were supposed to see? Yeah, nah. We saw where Charlie Sheen lived in the 90s and a bunch of reality stars, but mostly where someone died or got arrested. Oh, and the driver pointed out all of the adult toy stores and opined o the quality of the Hustler store and Larry FLynt, and the best places to get roleplay and bondage gear, and a few strip clubs too. The kids, who were about half the passengers, had LOTS of questions. Fun! At one point my daughter said she'd just have to tell people some random house we drove by was Taylor's, because that's all she cared about. But the driver. Dear lord, the driver. Cheerfully announcing he wasn't stopping for any red lights or stop signs, weaving through moving traffic, then taking a short cut to skip a third of the tour because we were behind schedule thanks to the half hour-late start that ended up getting us stuck in traffic on Mulholland thanks to a wreck, thus cutting the tour even shorter... And he cussed every other driver and called the the R-word multiple times for literally obeying traffic laws (at one point he started yelling at someone to just effing go through a red light because there wasn't a cop around), occasionally threatening violence, and yelling at the kids sitting behind him to shut up or their mother for not shutting them up, all over an open mic. Hilarious. So if you do want a horrifically memorable experience, go ahead! Be forewarned there's literally no heat in the but, not even from floor vents, so if you go after sunset bundle up. I wouldn't recommend it though, because as the driver said, you won't be able to see shit. read more

Just did this tour yesterday with Mr. Hollywood as our guide. First we didn't leave on time as they waited for more people to fill the bus. I guess it's true money talks. Second, driver ran red light three times. Third, Driver kept saying stars keep things private. If that's true how do you know that the house they mention is really the true celebrity. For the price they ask it's best to take the drive yourself. Enjoy the sight seeing while talking with family. Mr. Hollywood was extremely rude when others were speaking. It's like he wanted everyone to be quite while he was speaking. You couldn't even ask a question. Better watch your wife as Mr. Hollywood had more interest in flirting with bystanders than focusing on guest. Made my wife feel disrespected. My advice, DO YOUR OWN TOUR AND SAVE YOUR MONEY!! It's annoying and not right when companies force you or PRESSURE you to tip. Gratuity is a voluntary gesture of appreciation. There is a big sign on the Open Bus Tour van that says, 'TIP $15-$25 PER PERSON' And the driver repeated and repeated. It was a pressure cooker and even though I think 20%-30% gratuity is acceptable in the service industry- this company makes locals and International tourists feel pressured to tip so much when a full price ticket for adult is $45 per person. you are demanding a minimum tip of 35% per person . Never took a tour of LA or celebrity houses or anything like that, so I didn't know what to expect. I figured the tour would be straightforward and interesting- and it *was* interesting. BUT I had no idea how fun this would be, because our tour guide and driver Matt Nino was *hysterical*. He didn't just tell us cool facts about LA and point things out, he made jokes and kept the whole bus laughing. My friends and I even made friends on the bus because we were all having such a good time. We got to see a ton of celebrity houses and LA sites. Matt told us a lot of stories about Hollywood that I never knew. It didn't feel rushed and we even got to stop in Beverly Hills to take photos. We did the tour on new year's eve. It was poor. Apart from the fact that it was cold but the guide couldn't care less and would drive super fast on top of the hills (Mulholland Drive), it seems that he just wanted to finish early on the 31st of December. The tour was supposed to last 2 hours but ended after 1h30mins, which is frankly unacceptable. It was rushed, unclear, not considerate of the guests on board and just generally repeating lines and jokes that the audience wasnt taking to. Essentially the guide was entertaining himself rather than us and even had the guts to blatantly ask for tips, which he didn't get from anyone. This was a big disappointment. read more

As a first timer in LA, I do highly recommend this tour. You get to see Hollywood, Beverly Hills, celebrity homes, and a picturesque view of the San Fernando Valley. The only thing, and for me it wasn't worth deducting a star but definitely worth noting, it was a 3 hour tour. so make sure you eat well before. grab a drink from the shop before you leave also, as there is no chance to eat/drink once the tour starts. read more

Tony (I think that was his name, looked like Ed Sheeran) was AMAZING! 3 people that we didn't know were gonna be on our tour but were late, so our tour had to circle back to get them. We were pushing time and tony said he would drive us down 2 blocks to where we had parked after the tour. The tour was so good! We learned so much and saw great things! Tony got a phone call when dropping up off and I'm pretty sure he got in big trouble for doing this. But let me say, it was a GREAT example of amazing customer service and we were so thankful. The tour was to begin at 4:30, however we were made to wait for another family because they were stuck on traffic. We eventually left around 15 minutes later, only to swing back around to pick up the family that had finally arrived which I didn't think was right, the tour was to last for no more than 2 hours, but due to the late start and the very talkative tour guide who I felt like was taking himself on the tour for the first time, the tour took 2 hours and 40 minutes. This was over 3 mths ago but I had back to back trips and never a moment until now to write a review. I personally really liked the driver he was fun and very informative. The only problem was my bf was with me and during the tour he said I'm gonna take you a house that makes me think of you...and it was the witch house. My friend honestly thought he said RICH house but he said WITCH house and it really offended her. She felt like she hadn't done anything to deserve being called a witch and I even said he was just joking around...but it really hurt her feelings. The home tours was my favorite part because of the views in the hills. We liked the open top bus because it didn't obstruct the views at all. We made a stop during the home tours that you got some good pics. We ran into traffic which delayed us but I'm not sure if that's just normal LA traffic lol. The driver made the experience more enjoyable. Parking really sucks in LA I would suggest you get dropped off or find a parking close by. We found one for $20 for a couple hours. And you also get 10% discount from the gift shop where you start the tour. It was cool you're on Hollywood Blvd with the stars to walk up and down after the tour. read more

The first time I booked with them in June, 2018, I thought I had struck it rich. They were exactly what I was looking for, or so I thought. They were personable, knowledgeable, and seemed to offer a great deal for a fun tour that my students enjoyed. However, this past June, their management showed their true colors. This time, I booked with them in advance, reserving a tour for 2 adults and 10 students two months in advance. All seemed well, until I arrived. Then, I was told that -- get this -- they would accommodate 11 of the twelve of us on one tour bus, but the 12th person would have to go on a separate bus. Read that again. You're reading that correctly. Breaking up a group of 12 who'd registered two months in advance into 11 on one bus, and 1 all alone on the other. Then, to try to save his ass ( though it made it far worse ), he told us they would accommodate everybody on one bus, but one passenger would not have a seatbelt because they would be taking more passengers than allowed by law. Incompetent and shitty. Or illegal and dangerous. That was my choice after I'd paid for this tour months in advance. In the end, after I became livid and dropped more than one F bomb in front of my students ( which I don't like to do but have no regrets since the situation truly warranted it ), he relented, and split the group in half. But only as a last resort. They're willing to break the law, or treat groups like shit. Stay far, far away. read more

The wife, 16yo, 5 yo, and I took this tour in August. Johnny K was our driver. We started pulling away from the meeting spot and he began to complain about a car that was blocking him. Calling him a son of a... and a moron. One block later he began to call the panhandlers nasty while talking badly about them. At one point he's laughing about houses on the mountain crumbling down because of an earthquake which then gets my 5yo worried our house will fall down. Now I'm no saint with my language but I am also not being paid to be professional. Nor do i find it appropriate for him to be making fun of others. As for the actual tour, the sights were beautiful. If you're interested in celebrity homes you'll drive by quite a few. We only drove by the Hollywood sign from across the valley even though they had said we'd actually go to it. He took us on a great tour up Mulholland winding over the Hollywood hills into Beverly Hills. The biggest negative review was from my 14 year old grandchild who didn't know who the stars were whose homes we were driving past.
