tried ooma for 4 days...family and friends reported infinite loop routing that only hapens for some callers but is mission critical so not acceptable... after 4 days of trouble shooting with help desk that had almost 0 technical knowlege i attemped to cancel "free trial" only to find on top of a activation fee they charged me not only for my free month but for the following month as well... then they disallow cancel on website and force users to do extended cancelation survey and wait for refund.. service was bad, quality was horrible no value and appears to be 100% a scam from my point of view... bad business stay away!! read more

OOMA is blocking my number! I've been trying to port out my business number from OOMA to Google Fi for over 3 weeks -- no success. They've given me multiple contradictory instructions, such as using no PIN or the last 4 digits of my number, but Google Fi requires a valid PIN. Every email contradicts the last, and their overseas support team offers no real help -- no supervisors, just long delays and empty promises. I'm stuck paying for a number they won't let go. UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I called and canceled 3 lines of service on 9/19. During that call, we discussed what the charge would be on the upcoming bill. When the bill was drafted on 9/25, it included the 3 lines i had canceled last week. I called and spoke with a rep who had no answers and then was escalated to a Team Level Supervisor. That supervisor did not have the authority to refund my money and could only submit a request, which would take 5 days after and if it was approved. There was no one higher than this Team Level Supervisor to speak to, and if I wanted to speak with someone else, they I would have to wait 24-48 hours for them to call me. At this point, they have drafted more money than what is owed and no offer of anything for my inconvenience. I've spent close to 2 hours now (most of which was on hold) to try to get this resolved. I highly recommend that you do not use Ooma Office if you can avoid it. They do not care about how their customer are treated! read more

Very tricky business. All their service agents are overseas and they are not honest at all. We cancelled our OOMA service in 2024, and they kept charging us "number parking" fees for many months even we cancelled our service. And OOMA claimed "you agreed the charge in year 2024". Downgraded my service without warning, causing my ported number to stop functioning. Of course, the representative lied and stated I had called and downgraded my service. I would not of done this, because I had possessed the ported number as a landline for 15 years prior to Ooma and wanted to keep it. With me repeatedly telling the agent that I just wanted to cancel the account, she kept wanting to ask questions and make offers despite me telling her I just wanted to cease any connection to Ooma. My ooma box will be finding a new home in the city landfill. Maybe the rats will appreciate their service, I sure didn't. read more

Absolutely awful the service never worked, they charged me an activation fee which they kept despite the service never working. Also, I signed up on the 24th of the month and they charged me for the month, but come November 1st apparently I owed another full month because their billing goes from the 1st-30th/31st regardless of when you sign up. They are not transparent about the cost and the customer service representatives were less than helpful, they seemed annoyed with my concerns. read more

The good and the bad. Ooma service is spotty. I was in the middle of a call the other day and it was dropped. Was it me or the other person? I believe it was Ooma. Much worse is that the service is constantly going out, at least once every two weeks, which means that I need to unplug my device and plug it back in again. When it's not working, I can't make or receive calls. You might say it's my Internet service, but I have had no problems with Internet for a year. The good things I can say about Ooma - call quality is generally good and I like being able to listen to voice mail on my computer - I receive messages via email. I think this is an upgraded service and worth it given the fact that the service is constantly going out. Two stars for call quality. Otherwise, one star. I'm dreading the day when I decide I've had enough and have to cancel the service. read more

The sales team hooked us, got us to do a paid trial of the phones. We decided not to go with this company during the trial period. Ever since we opted to not go with this company I've been hung up on, left on hold for hours, and no one from support will return my email. I started a live chat to see if the shipping label is included in the trial "if" we decided to not go with OOMA and I was assured a free return label. Once I said ok, I need a return label she quickly said I have to call and canceled my chat. I guess we are out of pocket for something that should have been included in the PAID trial. Agree with other reviews. This company is unethical. It is very difficult to cancel and my credit card was charged for several months even after my cancelation was confirmed. I bought a unit from Costco and set up a service with Ooma. The firmware won't update properly. So I returned the unit to Costco the next day. BUT that was only the beginning of the problem!!! I called Ooma to cancel and waited for more than 20 minutes. No one answered. I emailed to cancel and received an email which told me to call to cancel. I called again and waited for more than 20 minutes. Again, no one answered. I wrote another email describing my experience and asked them to cancel. I received an email which confirmed my cancellation. BUT that is not the end of it. I just realized that my credit card has been charged for months. Now, I am disputing the charges with credit card company. This company either has a low moral standard, or is completely incompetent. read more

Agree with the other reviews... unethical company that makes canceling their service difficult and cumbersome. Interesting you can sign up for their service online but if you need to cancel even either online chat won't handle it... you have to call and talk to two different agents who try to retain you. I did keep one of my Ooma lines and service is OK but not as clear as Comcast voice, and there's a little bit of a delay (I have gigabit up and down, not my network, I build networks). I think Ooma was a silicon valley startup with a lot of potential when they first began, but have degraded into just another telecom that tries to rope you in and won't let you go, constantly upselling and charging for basic services that other VOIPs include for free. After my first year I will be transferring the second number as well. Steer clear. read more

I had to leave Ooma because I was not receiving *some* incoming calls. There was no apparent logic to who could get through to me and who could not. Three months after switching to a new service, I was still being auto-billed by Ooma. When I ported out my number I lost online access and assumed that meant my account had been cancelled as well. NOT true, I have now been informed that they had issued me a new phone number, but did not tell me what it was and kept my account active. I had to call them to cancel the account. I have never ported (home or cell) a phone number to a new service, and not had it cancel the account and stop billing automatically prior to this. They offered to refund one of the three months they have billed me for my shadow account. Recommendation: steer clear. read more

I decided to try OOMA when my majic jack quit working BIG MISTAKE. I spent I believe $79.00 Walmart brought it home hooked it up. It tells you you can keep your original number but when hooked up ,it gives you a different number and wants to charge you $49.99 to give you back the phone number I have had for 25 years . I immediately packed it within an hour of having it, returned to WalMart for refund. I did not notice until the 2nd month that they had been charging monthly dues. I headed to my bank to file a complaint dispute. The bank, OOMA, And I were connected by phone , they tried lying. I was telling then they were liars. They ended up telling the bank they would refund my money. Last week , the conmen sent back $9.99, not even close to what they owe. The service was good until about two months ago. I called customer service about it and was told it was my phone that was the problem, twice. The third time I call was to cancel the service. Eileen tried to upsell me for other services while I repeatedly said just cancel. She hung up on me at the end of the call when she asked me to give her a review of this call. I threw my ooma telo in the trash. The customer service answers the phone in a timely manner but the guy who answered focused on my voice volume rather that solving my problem. They said it was free but then said we will charge 10 bucks a month but then charged 17 bucks. I told them my ooma telo wasn't working and they said my warranty lapsed and I had to cough up another 100 bucks to get a new one. Just give me a new phone and put it on my bill. Simple. they suck you in giving you premier services you do not order. 60 days later you find out you have to pay $10 more a month to get services like forwarding, blocking, etc. services every other VOIP offers for free. Now you have paid $140 to port and for equipment but the 30 grace to return is over. Cancelling is VERY difficult. You have to go to your CC company and demand payments stop.
