I went here for sushi and did not try the Hibachi. It's pretty good, but I didn't love everything I had that day

I've been waiting to write my first review and I finally found the perfect place! I was surprised with a birthday dinner treat to Ooka for the first time and it definitely won't be the last. Great food and the chef's presentation is amazing! I'd recommend this place to everyone to go enjoy food prepared before your eyes!

The food was nasty. No seasoning or salt. My order was made wrong. Rushed through the presentation show on the grill. And lastly the best part was serving my daughter her birthday ice cream with hair in it. I pulled a string from out my mouth! I showed the staff and they took the strand and said happy birthday. Made a complaint and asked for at least a discount off the bill and was denied. I paid the $151 bill for just 3 people and left. Never ever ever dining there again. read more

My brother and I were in the area at the mall and he had mentioned he wanted some Japanese. We were both hungry so I yelped some places and this one came up. We decided to try it. This place is really nice inside. Very dim and intimate. Definitely good for a date night or special occasion. Very simple but beautiful decor. They have a hibachi table side and then a regular dining table side. We sat in the regular dining area. The menu has some nice selections. Both entrees and sushi. My brother wanted to order sushi so he got the baked philadelphia roll. We both got a teriyaki dish. He got chicken and I got salmon. Both meals come with miso soup and a salad. I'm not always a fan of white miso with tofu , however I tried it and the broth was actually tasty. I love the fact that it has mushrooms in it. I skipped the tofu. The salad was a regular garden salad with ginger dressing. Their ginger dressing was a little different than what I am use to. It was more creamy and didn't have a song ginger taste which I like. It wasn't horrible but not my fav. After the salad and soup the sushi came out. Now I'm not a fan of eel typical and this baked philadelphia roll had eel in it. However I don't know if because it was cooked how the roll was presented but it was actually good. Very tasty option. Our entrees came out after and when I tell you presentation is everything this place has me. They brought out cast iron plates that were hot and poured the teriyaki over the meal in front of you and everything just sizzled. It was a nice surprise. In addition to that the food was really good. My brother said his chicken was nice and tender and my salmon was cooked perfect. It was a really nice experience for lunch. I would come again, maybe try out the hibachi table side. I am not sure if you have to make reservations for it but I would look into it. Overall great meal and restaurant. read more

OOKA is my favorite out of all the restaurants with hibachi. The food is delicious whether it's the filet, chicken, shrimp, scallops, fried rice, noodles, veggies... plus you get the soup and salad. The portions are extremely generous. It's a little higher priced than others but not by a lot and truly worth it. Of course the "show" is always fun and entertaining ! read more

I order take out and the girl on the phone was rude didn't understand any word I said , I call 3 time for the same order she could not understand me ! My boyfriend and I went here for dinner a week ago and it was great! We had a reservation for 7:15 came early and got sat right away. We got seated at a corner table away from the crowd which is what we like. Atmosphere was relaxing. The waitress showed up shortly after with the menu. We each ordered miso soup, and vegetable dumplings for appetizers and we eat got 2 sushi rolls. I got tuna and vegetable. The food arrived in a timely matter and the waitress was attentive. Its definitely in my top 5 places to get sushi, just not number one. The vegetable dumplings were pretty tasty although I wish the bottom were seared more. Also our bill was not that expensive ( boyfriend said it was one of the cheaper bills we've had) so it just depends on what you order. We left feeling content and full :-) We would come here again for sure! read more

I went to Ooka at the request of some of my business partners. Walking in the door, I was a bit concerned due to the caution tape. Once I walked up the steps, I realized this place was ready for Halloween. We were seated and soon ordered. Multiple people stopped by to say hello and ensure we had everything we needed. We started with a lobster bun, which was served in a martini glass. This thing was delicious and somewhat stable, as long as you didn't set it down. We split a tuna pizza, which was fantastic, a lobster roll and a strawberry and eel roll. The presentation was great and everything tasted good. We came here to celebrate a birthday. Made reservations ahead of time for table for 6. We were seated promptly and for a weekday it was pretty busy. We decided to do the Hibachi. Most everybody got the fillet, steak or seafood options. You do have to wait until the chef finishes before he comes over to you. The show was OK. There's a lot of large fire and some hand work. I enjoyed it but it was pretty short. They do throw food in your mouth and sake shot. Fun but kinda messy. The best thing about this place is BYOB. They also allowed us to bring cake without service or plate charge. Overall had a good time. My only knock is the value. Prices kinda on high side in proportion to food amount and quality. Maybe next time I'll try non habachi options. read more

I have actually been coming to Ooka for a very long time (since I used to live in the area), but don't frequent it anymore since I moved away. It was a treat to come back. Everything is very consistently high quality. The atmosphere is great, service is prompt/friendly, drinks/food are delicious. One recommendation I would make, however, is to cook the vegetarian food first (or on the other side of the grill) so that the veggies aren't cooked along with the meat. read more

Ooka was highly recommended by my coworker. The location of this restaurant makes it difficult to access when you're on the main road. When you walk into this restaurant, you are greeted with the smell of hibachi and smells. Everything is nicely laid out and the lights are pretty dim. Our order: Baby octopus, sashimi & sushi combo for 1, and sashimi deluxe with tuna roll. The presentation of the rolls and sashimi were beautiful. The combo and deluxe platters didn't have a large variety of fish, it was almost as if the chef wanted to get rid of that type of sashimi. The fish tasted sweet, almost as if there was an additive. It didn't taste as fresh as it looked. The cuts were extremely thick and the tuna sashimi tasted almost chewy. The service was great. The women servers were extremely attentive and was always around when we needed anything. read more

Wanted to try something new so went in sat down quickly seems clean. Then disasters, disappointment, no signs telling you can't have Hibachi. First no limes, we order food all excited then told can't order from Hibachi menu only if you sit in that room that is ten feet away. I said ok let's move us oh can't filled up. Young server so cute so nice tried but no manager even bothered to come over to help. There was nothing saying we couldn't have it either. Used to have fresh sushi. Went Totally down hill. Ordered Japanese uni totally rotten and smelled foul Sashimi is dried out. Fish is not fresh anymore. Even shrimp tempura tasted old. I guess hibachi is the way to go. At least everything is saturated in soy sauce and butter. read more

I am very impressed, it's about as good as you're going to get for a local sushi place. You're definitely getting what you pay at Ooka the fish is very high-quality and they have things like Toro and other stuff that you won't find at a "sushi mill". The woman at the front was very pleasant and she spoke American English as a native (. she probably is). The woman who is taking my order (take out) also seem to actually have full knowledge about the product and sushi in general. This should be a given but as you know if you ask a question of any sort at most places they will smile and maybe giggle. It's nice to be able to understand each other when doing business. Ooka is scrupulously clean and seems to really have a great grasp of the restaurant/hospitality business. read more

Went here for dinner on Xmas day. Thankfully we had a reservation as it was packed. The food, as always, was delicious. We got the seafood soup and the lobster miso bisque soup to start with along with the spicy tuna pizza. Everything was so fresh and delicious. For sushi we got the spicy salmon roll which just melts in your mouth, spicy tuna roll, eel dragon roll, lobster dynamite roll and chirashi. Everything was outstanding! My husband doesn't eat sushi so he got the sesame baked chicken entree. That was delicious as well. We always come here when craving sushi and it ever disappoints. read more

Sushi here is very good, but priced a bit high for location (non centrally located in big city) and quantity of food. The restaurant is a bit smaller on the inside than the perception from outside.
