You'd think a company with the goal of trying to connect people to accessible financial services would bring any sort of compassion to their customer service. Don't worry, you won't find that here! I had an appointment scheduled at 10am, and despite calling to check in several times, I didn't get through to the loan officer I was scheduled to speak with until an hour later. When I finally got her on the phone for our scheduled meeting, I did not get an apology or recognition of the time wasted. I originally "pre-qualified" for a loan with them through the Acorn
loan finder, but beware: this is a misleading online service they participate in to draw in more customers. Acorn told me I had an "outstanding chance of approval" with OneMain, followed by all the specifications tailored to my credit and debt history. Put all the same information in as the loan office ended up requesting over the phone. Despite this, when I spoke with the Des Moines branch (after nearly an hour of waiting, see above), she brushed this off within seconds. I understand how the loan industry works, I know the predatorinesss it comes with. I know these loan officers have to tell people all day they're not qualified for a loan, but for the person on the other end of the phone, it may be there first time going through this process. I wish their company was more transparent, or told their loan officers to show a BIT of human decency and not rush through the process when they've already wasted their potential customer's time. If only they cared about the real humans they serve as much as they care about taking a person's car as collateral. Please think twice about using them for a loan. read more
