The Advocacy Center plays a role in some investigations and in treatment for some victims and is highly skilled in their specialized work. Amber's complaint is similar to a person who saw a car wreck and called a hospital operating room for help. The operating room may play a role later, but it's the wrong place to start. Amber is right to seek help for that poor child and she deserves praise for that, but she's mistaken to speak badly about this good agency.

The Center is a place where professionals - social workers, counselors, law enforcement officers, state attorneys, victim advocates, medical professionals and others - work as a team to coordinate investigations and interventions for each child abuse case. This collaboration expedites each child's time in the legal system and ensures that children are not re-victimized by the system and that they and their families are provided the support and services needed.

You need to know that they are now doing a background check on anyone who comes in as a volunteer…read more I do not think this is a great idea although they should know who is in there volunteering. They did not give us any notice and we visit each monthto cook a meal and I find it offensive that they are now background checking each person on each visit and taking a photo of you. I have nothing to hide except that I find it offensive that I was not notified before hand B. I have to buy all the food I bring in C. They don't have staples and sometimes you need salt and pepper or butter and I don't expect to have to buy that and bring that in. We always make a meal from scratch and this is a very distressing issue. I don't think i'm going to be volunteering there anytime soon.

This place is awesome! The store sells accessories and clothing as well as little trinkets! The…read moreidea behind the store is to carry socially conscious products. That means that all of the products in the store come from either a local artist or are made by small companies that are supporting a specific cause. There are blankets made by women leaving domestic violence relationships and learning new skills. There are woodworking products made by convicts who have been released and are in need of a job. There is jewelry from El Salvador made by residents who are being supported by a living wage. The shop is pretty awesome, and I cannot wait to watch it grow and gain more product! If anyone knows of local artists or companies that would fit their mission, they are looking for vendors!

We decided not to buy it and her response was "This is not Neiman Marcus, it's a thrift shop!" We immediately left. No need for condescending rudeness, thanks anyway! They would NEVER have had a dirty rug on display at Haven Hospice Thrift. Doesn't take a department store to clean a rug. I'd say they are more like a high end garage sale than a high end thrift store.

When they questioned me online about what I needed to get rid of, one of the items I had was a large gun ( rifle) cabinet which I put down as needing to go. The person from Salvation Army told me the date and time when they would pick the gun cabinet and other things up. When the guys showed up to get the items- they stated they would not take the rifle cabinet- which I wish they told me when they called a couple of days before. Also, I have a china cabinet, which they wouldn't take, either. I guess china cabinets are out dated these days- no one wants them. The point Im making is if they didn't want the items I had to give them, they should have let me know. They're pretty choosy about what they'll take and what they won't take.
