I used to give plasma and one time there was an issue with a clog during the process... ever…read moresince... and a year later... I get turned down bc they claim my vein is too difficult to stick. It seems like they have me flagged now. I've tried to go elsewhere and I get evaluated and rejected and do there must be a note in the data base. Well it was fine for quite a number of visits so it's an unfair prejudice. I recommended 3 friends and a family member who still go.

CSL Plasma is conveniently located in a safe part of town with plenty of parking around the…read moreshopping center. The staff here is extremely kind and the facility is sterile. Inside the place is cold and open with plenty of machines to "hook up to" however this is where the platitudes stop. First, it's not clear that your first month of giving, the patient is rewarded roughly $100 per visit up to 5 visits (this varies based on your weight). Next you can give only twice a week but isn't clear is that if you get sick or anything that pushes any visits past the month, you'll be rewarded around half the amount per visit. Also, the amount after your first month is roughly 50% of the initial visits. Next the time to give is outrageous. When the patient walks in, there's a machine that asks roughly 30 questions. From there you'll be funneled into a health check line that can take up to an hour, depending on how many nurses are in the 4 stations (typically it's 2 or 3). After taking vitals another line awaits where it can take yet another hour while you wait for a seat at the machines. Mind you there's no chairs so you'll be standing the whole time. My personal experience isn't great with the staff which isn't a slight rather who has the expertise to help me. I'm fit for my age yet my veins are "deep and roll" which means only two of the nurses there can hit them normally. One can imagine the "fun" I have when a vein is missed and has to be re-entered or worse, they dig to find it. Out of my 7 visits I've only been able to give a whole bottle 4 times and here's where the communication wasn't clear. I was told if I wasn't able to give 3x in a row, I'd be up for review. We'll that isn't exactly true as if you cant give a certain amount per month and/or they miss a lot then you'll be under review. Honestly, I could care less now as I'm tired of being helpful. Also there are 3 rows of beds but one isle is never used, thus the long wait time. I'm not sure if there are other facilities but this branch isn't great and I won't be back. They're always behind, the average weight time is over 2.5 hours, the rules and regulations aren't clear and very few are on an expert level with a needle. After I've had over 13 operations and 8 procedures my heart desires to give back and help. However it it's too difficult I'll either stop or find other alternatives.

Art was great, not to mention a good conversationalist. Although they were short staffed, both him and his female co-worker did what they had to with a cheery attitude and making our donations feel more than worth it. I recommend giving here when you can. It's a clean, warm atmosphere. Thank you all for doing this with such positivity each day!

Each time has been pleasant and professional, regardless of how many people are there to donate. Today, I made an 11:15 appointment online the night before (and I was glad I did-- there were only two available appointment slots all day long!). I didn't do the Fast Pass question-and-answer preparation beforehand. I have in the past, but this time I didn't feel like getting out my laptop. This time, however, they told me it can now be done on an iPhone, which will be good to know for my next visit. I was the only one there when I arrived, and two phlebotomists were working. While Latoya was getting me prepped, though, three more donors came in. All were handled quickly and efficiently. I was in at 11:15 and out at 12:15. No pain, no problems, just a pleasant experience I'll be happy to repeat in 8 weeks. Thank you, American Red Cross!

I…read morecontacted this location after reading the reviews for the other plasma donation center in town, and thought that this one with its slightly better reviews would be a better fit. Unfortunately that was not the case. When I called on Friday I was told the center does not accept new donations by appointment, all new donors must do walk-in only, but the policy on that is very opaque and nonexistent at best. Nothing on the website says that it is a "first come, first serve" basis. In fact when I spoke to someone on Friday about a new donation, he said come in anytime before five. Now if it were first come first serve, why would I not be told that then? Monday, when I went in slightly before 3 o'clock I was told that I would be unable to become a donor today, and that I should come back early morning tomorrow. When I balked at this, and asked why, they said that it was simply because of manpower, they didn't have enough nurses to fully run the facility, and that there were already two people ahead of me in line. I called back after a few minutes on the way home to question the policy even further. Not only did the website not say anything, neither did the man that I spoke with on Friday. Of course the receptionist simply denied, denied, denied it. "I wouldn't have told you that," she said. Well that's great, but that guy did, and why would you run a business where you can only take a certain amount of donors at any one time and not say on your website "hey, don't come by, we don't have room for you." Why would you even have that policy in place to begin with. It would all be so much clearer if you could simply schedule your donation so that you weren't just rolling the dice by coming in on a random day at a random time. That is not respectful of your donors nor the time that they take in order to to donate. It doesn't matter if you're paying them money or not, that's just disrespectful. So no, I will not be donating at this location, they have lost me as a "customer" (or rather a donor). I have no intention of coming back nor would I suggest anyone use this facility for the blatant disrespect they showed the customers by this first come first serve policy. You close at 7 PM it's 3 PM and you have two new donors ahead of me and mine that's on you that is not incomet for me to come back another day. Or simply you're assuming that I will come back no thanks I have better things to do than keep rolling the dice thinking that you guys can take me. I don't need to do this that badly, and maybe that's the problem. Maybe most of the people that donate plasma are in desperate spots and so they simply assume that you will do it because you're desperate to get paid. I'm not, maybe that's the difference. Avoid this company at all cost. They do not respect you.

I will recommence platelets the middle of June when I become eligible. I am 91. This facility is outstanding but even sometimes things don't go as well as you would like. But before I become critical of any inconvenience caused to me, I think of the patient and the patient's family waiting for blood or platelets and my inconvenience pales into insignificance. My daughter would not have survived without these donations, as is the case with another 5 million or more people in this country alone. So, I appreciate the efforts of all the Red Cross personnel, and all those who donate. I give them five stars also. And to realize that age 91 I can still contribute, that because of my donation, another will be able to get out of that bed and go home and maybe live to 91 also makes this old guy feel pretty good.
