Mostly bc A) I had come in the day that church was back in session after a 2 week break and B) the line was INSANE !!! I know I was to arrive early but no one anywhere said anything about how early. So a tip: I attended the 8 am service and arrive at 7:15 and had to wait in line. Like I said, I wasn't sure if I was going to be in the sanctuary and I didn't want to be in overflow. Next time I'll arrive @ 6:50. It's around a two hour service after everything is said and done so unfortunately I had to leave early for work :( I will do my best to visit again when I get the chance to come back to ATL!!

Ever since COVID-19 pandemic, I have watched worship services online instead of attending in…read moreperson. Although I am not a member of 2819 Church, I recently streamed their YouTube service. It was a luxury to watch the sermon on a rainy Pentecost Sunday while still in my pajamas! My weekend morning attention span is usually short, but this church held my interest completely, unlike another service I tried. Founded and led by Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell, 2819 Church takes its name from The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 ("Therefore go and make disciples of all nations..."). I couldn't help but smile while listening to the choir. Their music brought a calming peace to my morning as I transitioned into my daily routine of eating breakfast, spin cycling, and cleaning. When they sang "Welcome Holy Spirit," it brought me to tears, as it's one of my favorite songs. Executive Pastor Lonnell Williams' sermon, "On This Day" (Acts 2:37-41), powerfully broke down conviction versus repentance. He explained that true repentance is a complete U-turn away from sin, not just feeling remorse. Remorse cries over consequences, but repentance ends the relationship with sin. Conviction is merely the smoke alarm, while repentance is leaving the burning house. Many people thank God the alarm works while refusing to walk out, yet you are only delivered when you obey the warning. Conviction exposes the danger, but repentance moves your feet. Stop celebrating the alarm while staying in the fire. Conviction without repentance leaves you aware but unchanged; holiness requires both. Days after the service, I had the pleasure of listening to sermons by Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell, which I thoroughly enjoyed--much like the sermon by Lonnell. Like many others, I plan to continue following 2819 Church online, hoping to attend in person in Atlanta someday. The message, praise, and gospel music always point me back home. ~Blessings~ Thomas G
