But, my usual stylist is not there anymore and I had to try someone who had never cut my hair before, which always makes me nervous. I had made an appointment and arrived 15 minutes early (to a less than stellar welcome) and then was made to sit for 45 minutes with no apology - and no one asked me if I wanted coffee or water or anything. I explained to the stylist (Cherie) what I wanted - my hair is difficult to cut - it is very straight, very thick yet fine, and has some gray, so a bit stubborn. I told her that I had an audition in 2 days and wanted just a light trim of my short hair as I didn't want to look like I'd just gotten a haircut. I asked her to keep my bangs long and not use a razor as it makes my hair stick up. She didn't listen, was condescending ("you just haven't had the right person use a razor on your hair" - note to her - I still haven't!) and gave me a "sassy" - read too short and sticking up (I look like Alfalfa from Our Gang) - cut. She cut it her way, not mine. And charged me $45 - $20 more than the last time I had it cut. I know it's season, but really? A less than pleasant experience. Luckily, my hair grows fast and I found another salon to go to next time.
