Apparently the owners have recently converted the place from a pub to an actual restaurant. There are still a few things they can do physically to the space to make it less llike a pub but that takes money that when starting a place might not be available.
So the printed menu is average but the chalkboard specials are quite inspired. I had the the rode curry scampi and Kristel had the pork jowels. Both were good. I think the menu said basmatti rice but it was not. Maybe a carolina long grain but most people can't tell the difference. I can.
They had a decent if not too small selection of wines. The server didn't know the varietal of the Spanish red. While not unforgivable it is important to have that information handy. The glasses were too small if serving red wine. I like to swirl my wine and you cant do it in tiny glasses.
I wish them well. They have a chance to differentiate themselves from the rest of the crowded eating places. The space is cozy and intimate. The changes necessary could be small but have a high impact towrds getting that 5th star from me. read more
