I had this service for 13 years and it really went downhill. I finally had to complain to the Illinois Attorney General to get my issue resolved. The service is absolutely awful. I have been covered for 23 months. when i had a outside water line leaking i called Pivotal twice with them saying all my covered benefits. sounded to easy. i asked if they would pay my current plumber again all confirmed. Do to all the extra paper work i was going to have to do i decided to go with a pivotal plumber, man came out looked around stated his establishment could not perform the work and that they would have pivotal assign to another plumber since concrete sidewalk involved. ( i had $1,000 coverage for concrete) i called pivotal to get new plumber information, woman whom answered stated that I live on concrete foundation, without seeing my property. i told her she is mistaken i am not on concrete foundation, she would not listen, then stated i was sold policy in error. i asked to speak to manager she put him on phone, she told him what to say. such manager was being directed by this woman. they then closed my coverage stating sold policy in error once again. i would never recommend them as when it comes time to use policy they do everything to get out of providing covered benefits. this ended up costing $3,200 out of pocket all that had to be done is dig flowerbed to get to water line and patch it. and to fix place in sidewalk. my coverage was $4,000 for water line and $1,000 for concrete which i was unable to use any of!!! read more

The service is a total waste of money. When you call to buy a service agreement they answer on the second ring....when you call when you need service you're on hold for over sixty minutes. I had no heat last week and tried to reach Nicor Home Services, for which I pay $19.00 for the past three years. I was on hold for over an hour. We absolutely recommend purchasing Pivotal Solutions. There is a good chance we will now purchase an additional policy. We have never had good luck with home warranties or additional home insurance plans. We have been paying on the policy which covers the water pipes. We had a leak in water which had swamped our yard. I said I can't understand them I needed to talk to someone else and they refuse to transfer me. connection of phone call was poor and he either hung up or got disconnected. Finally, this company made good on a claim I was being denied. Although it took some doing, and once I posted a negative review, a specialist from their escalation department reached out to me, her name is Tamara and she was helpful an willing to listen and go above and beyond her duties to resolve my denied claim. I now have renewed faith in this company and recommend it to everyone. But lesson learned, if you buy an appliance in cash, like I did, make sure to obtain a receipt from vendor showing that the item was paid in cash and in full. I tried to sign up and pay the fee. Unfortunately, when I clicked the button to submit my payment, it wouldn't take. I tried to come out of the site and sign back in but could not locate a "sign in" page.....not even on any of the drop down menus on their sells page. Every page that came up during a Google search led back to the page where they are trying to sell you something, not a page for people who set up an account to sign in. I don't feel like talking to a rep on the phone. I just wanted to pay the 9 bucks and continue my day. I don't understand why it's so hard to locate a "sign in" page to view your information. Oh well, I'll find someone else. They just lost a customer. This is ridiculous. Who designed...or is in charge of their page? I am completely shocked at the number of bad reviews. I own a few rental properties and I've been using Nicor Home Solutions since 2004 and have NEVER experienced the issues listed in some of these reviews. I have had nothing but success with NHS and hope to continue said patterns. My most recent occurred a week ago when my home AC started throwing out warm air. Called NHS the following morning (7:35AM) and phone was answered by a person and to make a long story short there was tech at my door within a couple hours and again I am a satisfied customer. read more

Nicor home solutions is a waste of money! Buyer beware. Our own experience was very bad as they do not honor their own agreement. We had been paying for this warranty service for 2 years and when we had a repair for our fridge they came out to fix it and after further inspection they told us it was irreparable (it was still working with a minor interior leak) and we needed to replace it. Our agreement for the package plan was replacement up to $2000 for a comparable fridge. They would only cover $400 because of a section of the agreement that was not applicable (very clear in the agreement). Buyer Beware!! Columbia/Pivotal Home Solutions has 191 complaints on file at the Better Business Bureau, their Yelp rating is 1 star, Google is 2 stars and pissedconsumer.com is 1.4 stars. Based on my experience and those of hundreds of reviewers at several different consumer websites, this is not a company that customers can have confidence will actually make the repair they've paid for in their warranty. As far as my experience goes, I paid Columbia/Pivotal around $900 over the past 5 years for a repair warranty on my furnace. I called them for the first time on a Sunday morning in February to say that I needed a repairman because my furnace was leaking. I continued to call them 5 or 6 times from 10:00 am to 7:45 pm; each time I was told that Columbia had made a mistake in assigning me to the particular repair service because it was closed on Sunday, but that I was being reassigned to a different company. This happened three different times over a 9 hour period. Finally, at 6:30 pm I was told that they had no one "available" and I could either find my own repair person (at 6:30 pm on a Sunday night) and they would reimburse me six weeks later, or I could wait till the morning. No heat in Massachusetts in February. The supervisor suggested I find some blankets. Given what the other Columbia/Pivotal Home Solutions posts show (see Pivotal Home Solutions in Naperville, IL--it's the same company), I feel like a fool for falling for this. In reading the posts of other people's experience over a period of years in several different states, I notice that the company response keeps using the phrase "we hold ourselves accountable to our customers first and foremost". Either this is just meaningless doublespeak from their customer service manual, or they are incredibly bad at their job. Regardless, there are easier ways to get your home repairs done. I applied for the plan and was sent a contract stating my commencement date was may 3rd. On June 4th I attempted to call them stating we were having issues with a garbage disposal. I was informed that I did not have coverage because the agent taking my application made a mistake and I was sent the policy package in error. This company is a scam and I am surprised that Nicor would be involved with them. I am contacting Nicor to let them know what kind of company they are. The only reason I used them was because of the Nicor name. The response given by Elizabeth R. Is a bogus robo response and she does not exist. Just another example of how this scam company operates. Great response and immediate repairs completed on two service calls. For years I had another company that can be found on FB with very dissatisfied customers, these days it's very hard to find anyone to do good work so I turned to Nicor Home Solutions. The unique thing about this company is that they have their own repairmen instead of subcontracting out. My furnace which is under warranty, need a new circuit panel. I bought this carrier brand new 5 years ago, and have 10 years parts, 5 years labor. The labor has run out, but I'm still covered for the parts. But, nicor charged me $74.00 to see what the problem was. Now the part is here and to be installed today, but I'm looking at a fee of $174.00 to have the tech install it!. So my total out of pocket for everything is $248.00!!! When I bought this service from Nicor Home solutions I was to believe nothing would come out of my pockets!! So $248.00 today, on top of the monthly charges on my nicor gas bill! They should let the consumer know about these fees when signing up for their services. I'm not a happy camper right now. And right before the holidays. I am In Illinois Cancel or do not purchase this plan it is not a service plan for repair of appliances if you need repair completed within several weeks. The service is poor, lack of experience. it took three weeks to repair my refrigerator, service people told me sorry we had another customer who needed same parts we installed in there fridge and had to reorder for mine. they also arrived several times unable to find parts in there disorganized van.we lost food and when i called customer service and spoke to Sonny the Supervisor, she agreed the problems are over the top and someone would call me to try and compensate my loss. Appalling-  I had been paying them $105/month for some time and had my TV damaged by surge. I was told to hire my own TV technician to diagnose and repair the TV and they provided me with claim forms to report the claim, have a certified technician verify surge damage and my bank account details for payment. I did hire a certified technician who did the diagnosis and reported that a repair is not economical and that parts are not available immediately and might take months. I purchased a TV as advised by their customer representative and submitted all documents within 30 days of the surge. I received an email ( which some how has now disappeared from the thread) on the 30th day saying that the claim is denied as the form missed the surge date and bank does not have complete address. My account is in CHASE which does not need an address for direct deposit. I completed the forms again putting the surge date and adding address to the bank details. NO feedback was received even after 30 days. I tried to contact customer service for 2 days and could not connect as their phone system was down. Upon trying multiple times and a long hold of an hour i finally spoke to a customer representative who informed me that claim was denied as it was submitted after 30 days. I tried to explain the whole situation that claim was filed well within the 30 days and was resubmitted again with all requested information. She said there is nothing she can do and asked me to contact the claim center via email which i did only to receive a response that  the claim is being submitted beyond 30 days and that the technician receipt does not describe it as a surge issue. I was appalled at the ignorance of the person handling the claim as she could have checked the time line, reasons for initial denial, resubmission and checked the report signed by technician to outline the surge as reason for damage. I have responded with the screenshots on initial claim submission and correspondence and have not received any feedback yet. read more

Nicor Home Solutions, you're really falling off a cliff. I do not recommend their services to anyone. When you call, you are on hold forever, and they drop the ball constantly. I have sent in my paperwork that the appliance was deemed by the technician and no one can locate that they received it. Then they tell me to send it elsewhere. A complete run around. 20 year customer. they made may small repairs over the years and replaced a broken washing machine. At some point they changed my contract said I was grandfathered in. Dish washer unrepairable they said submit name and model, they may not be able to reimburse full amount. Then they said my contract doesn't cover replacements. when they have replaced in the past. Nicor Home Solutions Called NHS for a sewer clog they had a plumbing company come out on a Thursday they couldn't solve the problem so said they would come back out the next day with the longer rodding pipe. I had to pay $345 that visit which is ridiculous considering it was just another 4 feet of rodding cable to resolve the issue. I paid cause I had no choice but I did notify NHS. I called every day for 7 days straight and no one ever replied or called back. Every day it was a new lie about an email being sent to their escalations team. Each agent also had different excuses as to why I had to pay. Finally, I messaged their Twitter account and someone called me back only to tell me tough luck our T&S says we only cover 100 feet even though I heard different stories each day from various agents of theirs all vowing to help me. In the end I canceled because if I have to call a plumbing company and pay them then the NHS service plan is a waste of time and money. They will find every excuse to get you off the phone and then you end up paying major plumbing costs anyways cause they don't cover something or the other through a loophole in their T&S. Bottom line is it is another way to take your money and not come through as a major company. Avoid them at all costs and find yourself a good plumber when you need them. read more

I posted an unfavorable review for this company last week and they immediately contacted me to find a resolution (which I thought might have been a good thing), but boy did they continue to be sarcastic, rude and rigid with their stance after several phone calls/being left on call and waiting days for a return call (again). Not only did we not get the service during storms over the years we contracted with them, but trying to cancel the contract proved to be right in line with "I don't care about the customer" attitude and it's only about paying the premium. Hello All, It is over a year later after I wrote this review. I canceled the service long ago and they have been billing my mother every month since. Calling to stop this has not helped. She has not paid in over a year since the cancellation, and now the most recent bill is over $500. She is just ignoring it, but the harassment keeps coming. It is astonishing that a company like this can remain in business without any repercussions or investigations from the state's attorney's office. After paying my premiums for almost 2 years, NHS turned down my first claim. I'm canceling

It is actually happened to my elder father. He signed up without being told that the coverage is only for homeowner which he is not ! After paying NHS for more than a year, he found out he was not qualified for the coverage so he cancelled since last May. As of today, Nicor Home Solutions is still sending him bills trying to get more money out of him. I called them and their customer services representatives argued that they have no record that my father has cancelled the coverage, therefore he is still owning them money...although the coverage was not valid because he is not a homeowner ??????? According to their residential customer agreement, "The company may refuse to provide service or deny enrollment under the Plan if eligibility requirements are not met" AND "Company may cancel this Agreement prior to the end of the current 12 month term for non-payment by You....." It's obvious that my elder did not meet any of their requirements, but they are still trying to intimidate him to give them more money ! I filed my claim in June 2021 for a broken Sears Kenmore dryer. The repairman said he couldn't get parts because it was 25 yrs old and Pivatol said my contract entitled me to $400.00 for a new dryer. The new dryer I purchased was over $500.00. They emailed me and said they received my documentation I am still waiting for my $400.00 and it's now September 2021. When I call 866-590-2953 for help I have waited on hold for 35 to 1 hr 10 minutes. Yesterday I was on hold from 2:40 to 3:33 pm EST. When someone answered they pretended there was static on the line. I could hear 2 males & one female in the background and then ice dumped 2x and then a blender crunching the ice. I begged for help....no answer. I have also gotten 3 different answers to the same question from 3 different people (I have names written down). I'm shocked I haven't had a stroke from this experience!! I have never had such a terrible experience with a company like t have had with Nicor Home Solutions.When I decided to stop their services I was promised a $50 credit if I would stay.This never happened.I was supposed to then get a check for this amount when I left them.I have talked to so many people and supervisors over the year.I was told that I should never have been promised this to a check was sent to me!I never received a check.I was told to call back after a month and another one would be sent.I did this and so far no check!I am promised someone will return my call and find out what the retention department has said about my check.This never happens.I try to call and it goes straight to taking a survey.Theis company doesnt care about customer satisfaction.I would never recommend them. read more
