Unfortunately, my experience with StraightLine did not go well. We were remodeling a 1700 square…read morefoot home as a long term space for my folks. We finally split after 14 months, an enormous amount of money and very little progress. We have spent over $100,000 to correct poor workmanship by StraightLine, on top of the $380,000 we paid them. Electrical was significantly underwired, hot wires were left exposed. A new header was supposed to be installed securely and was not, causing the ceiling and a truss to crack. Sheetrock was placed over necessary spaces, but not over actual holes. A sub contractor backed into the newly added garage and cracked it to the roof. Interior was painted before walls were patched. Trusses, cabinets and tile were all ordered (and installed) incorrectly. Tile was crooked with grout lines uneven. Cabinet space left for fridge was too small. Lot was not graded prior to the garage addition and water flooded into the garage and laundry. Exterior board and batten was done with untreated wood 2x4's which would soon rot. OSB was used in soffits, not plywood. And those are only a few of the issues. Would definitely do it differently if I had to do it again. (Staff was lovely, work was not up to the quality and standards I know they would want.)

This year I interviewed Energy Roofing, and was impressed with their openness, and willingness to communicate. A lot of contractors have communication issues between their staff and crew. They admitted they had some communication issues as well, however rectified them. With this, I hired them for our complete re-roof. During the process communication was very good between myself, staff, and crew. I was also impressed by the meticulous work the crew did, by sealing all flashings, valleys, and vents. Starter shingles were placed and sealed down. I went with the peel and stick asphaltic underlayment, which was placed without wrinkles and tears. Two old plastic Skylights were replaced with high quality double paned Velux with retractable blinds. The crew cleaned the area well after each workday. Work was basically complete after two workdays, and the area cleaned up. Many thanks to the staff I worked with: Manny, Eric Griffith, and Mark Musial. All were professional and helpful I highly recommend this contractor.

While they were trenching they broke our water main and did not tell us. So that cost about $200 for a plumber to fix which Coker would not pay for. Luckily we found saw the water leaking or it could have been a much bigger disaster. Then they put the electrical pole in the wrong place and the technician said it was because the clay was hard and he had been digging all day. When I talked to the boss he said he had told the technician how to do it but there was a tree root in the way (there wasn't). Then the next day the boss changed his story to the fact that the wires would have been short anyway that they needed to connect to. What's worse is they charged us $775 extra to fix their error. I will never use them again.
