Dr. Is running 30 mins late. I can hear him talking up a storm in the next room. This is frustrating.

Both my parents are allergic/sensitive to bee stings, and these hurt a lot. My whole foot, ankle and leg swelled up, so I decided to make a trip to the Urgent Care walk-in clinic to get it checked out. Few things to note: They are only open Mon-Fri. 8 am - 5 pm, so outside those hours, you're doing to have to head to the Emergency Room. It was pretty quiet when I arrived at 4 pm on a Thursday, but still took me about an hour to be seen, and about 1-1/4 hours to be finished. Had to fill out a lot of paperwork, since it was my first visit here. But, the staff at front desk was friendly and caring, they made sure I wasn't having trouble breathing, and nurse and doctor were both good. They ended up recommending rest, ice and some Zyrtek, which I was able to pick up at the Walgreens nearby. Took a couple days for the pain, itchiness and swelling to go down, but all ended up well. Hopefully you don't need them, but if you do, good to know they are here!

I've had one Emergency Department visit, and felt that the attention and care were appropriate. For my chronic conditions, I think they're deficient and inadequate, and their approach is limited; I would not call the approach offered to me "health care" but rather "symptom management." (Some writers call this "a pill for an ill.") Health doesn't come from a statin or ACE inhibitors or beta blockers or steroids; it comes from many lifestyle steps we can take to fundamentally improve the overall condition of our bodies and our real health. None of this has ever been offered to me at this place. I've also talked to a number of women being managed for osteoporosis. The standard knee-jerk approach of vitamin D, calcium, weight-bearing exercise and bisphosphonate medication is woefully incomplete and leaves out many actions, dietary steps and supplements that are essential for bone health. Whatever your condition is, look it up under the "Integrative Medicine" or "Functional Medicine" or "Naturopathic Medicine" approaches and see how much more you can do to really support your health. For me, at least, speaking just about my own experience here, I call their long-term approaches to my conditions "Dys-Functional Medicine"

The other day and while I was having a treatment they brought me a warm blanket and glass of ice water!! They're always cheery and check in on me with a phone call. Will be changing over to have my primary there and hope that my experiences keep being too knotch. Also, the building is beautiful.

Last night my son was complaining his ear was itching and then he started crying saying it hurt... he's had a cough for the past week so I thought maybe it is an ear infection, we rushed over to the urgent care. Minutes after giving the receptionist his insurance card and info we were already being placed in a room with a nurse... they took his vitals, asked a few questions and saw the doctor right away. Dr Phasouk quickly looked at his ears and immediately confirmed it was an inner ear infection... We were in and out of there in less than 30 minutes.. it took longer to get his prescription at the store than it did to see a doctor!!! I cannot say enough about this place! We love our family doctor Dr. Kim Dougan, we love the facility and we now love the urgent care... being on the island here you sort of don't expect quick service because it's like people are on "island time" but I've been impressed by Harrison Medical Center with every visit! There is also an elderly care facility right next door, where I'm sure they have falls and small emergencies often, they are lucky to be so close to such an amazing facility... Now the urgent care hours are only 8-8 but for a larger emergency I would probably try to get to Seattle... that's where the helicopter emergency insurance comes in handy.
