You know I had no idea that olive oil could have such a variety, I mean my gosh. They had a whole tasting! There were some that were sweet, mild, spicy, just an array that I had no idea even existed. We did a tasting, they even had a cheese tasting on the other end of the shop. They had olive juice to make dirty martinis, such a great product! Then wine tasting on top of that while you shop! I mean what is not to love. The day we came they also had a wreath making event, and anyone could make one, so that was pretty cool too, I love me some crafts, food and wine. Nice way to discover the Tin City in Paso Robles...as we thought we were going, instead, to a real olive farm! This Olivas de oro (golden olives, what a beautiful and catchy name for a brand!) is just a tasting room, quite humble, with not much fuzz. However, I has all an olive oil lover needs: a nice (small) variety of various gold liquids plus some awesome vinegars to go along as well. I got the Mission blend and fig based vinegar, together with a set of 3 olive oil based soaps for gift giving. Thanks to the visit of this store we ended up staying for a few hours in the very interesting concept of Tin City. read more

Olive oil with a twist. That's what I call this place. I remembered having flavored olive oil previously but Olivas de Oro takes the prize. They not only offer olive oils but other jams and salts that are also uniquely flavored. The samplings were delightful and the pairings of olive oil and vinegars were off the chart. I enjoyed it all. So much that I bought myself some to go. I wanted one of everything but decided on lemon, basil, jalapeno cilantro and mandarin orange olive oils and of course the Modena aged balsamic vinegar. That Balsamic vinegar will elevate any dish ten fold. It was a great little spot to finish up my Paso Robles trip. read more

This is a 5-Star experience. We had an introduction to olive oil tasting at another Paso Robles location years ago and have been using their olive oil (Italian variety olives). Olivas de Oro offers olive oil made from Spanish variety olives and we had a tasting. It was a different kind of tasting using a small plastic spoon but also lots of palate fun. We started with the three pure EVOOs which we loved. One was buttery, one was grassy and the third was extra grassy. Then we got into the infused olive oils and for many paired them with balsamic vinegars. This was such a taste tickler. Next we moved to another tasting table where we tried tapenade, chimchurri, jams, a bbq sauce and so much more...what a journey. In the end, we picked up each of the pure EVOOs, one of the balsamic vinegars, cured olives and the dirty martini juice. This is really going to make our breads and salads pop. Thanks to Joseph for his wonderful hosting of the tasting. He is really knowledgeable about the product and production. We really enjoyed the experience. The olives are grown, harvested and pressed in nearby Creston. Know that the EVOO bottles at Olivas de Oro have labels with pressed date. read more

Several times we have missed the Olivas de Oro experience due to bad timing. They have limited hours and limited days, but this time we did not mess up. First of all, once you pass through the large gates, there is a winding, dirt road that feels like it will go on forever. Is there really a tasting room and olive business back here? But the drive is gorgeous, taking you by several huge orchards of old and new trees, well worth the meander. Especially since there had been enough rain to encourage an emerald green carpet of new grass to cover the hills and surround the trees. At last we arrived. The tasting room from the outside looked like a real let down, more of a gardening shack I thought. But then we walked inside. Surprisingly, it was decorated, and there was a big table of oils, some flavored, some not, and flavored vinegars to taste. I happily discovered they were all exceptionally delicious. The hostess stood by as we shamelessly sipped our way into oblivion, and gave great tips on how some oils and special vinegars paired especially nicely together. The tasting room was also a cute little gift shop that helped resolve some of my Xmas gift issues. Do stop here. This is a tremendous find that definitely enhanced our wine tasting experience that day, and will grace our table for some really fine dining. read more

This was a wonderful find. Here are our favorites: habenero olive oil for cooking omelette and eggs. My husband uses it to cook sausages in for slicing and serving as appetizers. The habenero gives it a little heat. The Meyer lemon olive oil is a staple in our salad dressing. The red chili pepper garlic is used for eggs, sautéing vegetables, I use it on toast instead of butter. We toss pasta with it to elevate the flavor. We mix it in our marinara sauce as well. Lastly, Meyer lemon olive oil soap~so refreshing to wash your face with in the morning. read more

We were lucky to first have olive oil from Olivas de Oro at the old orchard site. We fell in love then and continue to receive their incredible oils, vinegars and spices via the membership program. We visited their Tin City location earlier this year and it was really cool. I just ordered their Mother's Day basket for two folks and they said they are wonderful. Don't miss a visit to Tin City, a quaint little commercial community, with lots of ambience. We started with Olive Tasting here with Terry (who was an excellent host) and left with lots of great oils, vinegars and compotes/tapenades. Cute gift shop as well. We walked around Tin City and came upon a lovely Italian Market with all the goodies we needed for an Italian Feast. My group of friends and I were interested in doing an olive oil tasting and he was so patient and friendly- we had such a great time!! I've never visited their vineyard. But I always always always keep their oils and vinegars in my pantry after discovering their products at a Harvest Festival in Ventura. The garlic olive oil allows me to enjoy garlic flavor with my pasta while I suffer from IBS. And one of their vinegars is my secret weapon in my always popular deviled eggs and egg salad. To be honest I found out about this place by their vacation house rental. Their is a house on the farm that you can rent out and a Kiwi friend suggested it. It is a great place to stay if you are tasting/touring the area. So we stopped by the tasting room and were floored by the quality of the olive oils. I was so happy not to get any that tasted like a lawn. They were all rich and delicious. Then upon diving into the flavored oils where they crush the flavoring with the olives I was even more impressed. I just used some of the mandarin orange olive oil in some brownies (yes, you should try doing that) after remembering some olive oil waffles they had for mother's day last year. The rosemary goes great on a cooked steak. And I have to stop talking about them because I am risking drooling on my keyboard. I can't wait to get back up there to buy some more. read more

A must see if you are in Paso Robles. Just be warned, the tasting room is only open Friday through Monday from 11-5pm. Olivas de Oro is reached by a drive through the back roads. They are reported to have olive trees that are over a hundred years old in parts of their orchard. The olive oil tasting is paired with their vinegar tasting. I was amazed at how many different flavors and combinations there were! Service was very friendly, and they guide you through the tasting. We loved it so much we decided to buy a membership. There are two levels of membership, "Society" and "Adopt a Tree". The first level of Club membership (Society) is free but you pay for the individual shipments of olive oils which come twice a year with 2 250-ml olive oil bottles and one bottle of vinegar. With the second membership, you can "adopt" an olive tree in addition to receiving the shipments but it is paid for upfront (though you pay for shipping fees). With the Adopt A Tree membership, you also receive an additional Nuevo oil shipment in addition to free picking of the olives from your adopted tree during the Annual Harvest Party. Can't wait to go to these events in the future! Finally, you can actually rent their adjacent guest house overnight! It is called the Guest House at Rancho Olivas de Oro. I'm considering trying this because it looks like a tranquil place to stay while visiting neighboring vineyards. From what I could see, it was receiving solid reviews on Vrbo. read more

These are olive oils where all I need a good chunk of bread to enjoy. They have so much flavor, depth and richness, they can stand on their own. All Olivas de Oro olive oils are certified organic. Perhaps that's why they taste so good. My favorite, Sevillano...very buttery and nutty. I also enjoy their meyer lemon oil as well as their mission blend oil. Way out on the back roads of Paso Robles you will find the Creston Wine Trail. (about a 30 minute drive) There are about 5 wineries, a restaurant and this place, an olive farm. The lush trees you see as you enter the property were transported one by one from Oregon. The small tasting room is lined with rows of oils, vinegars and other treats. Once you taste good high-quality balsamic vinegars you will never go back to the cheap stuff. It's thick, almost like syrup and the tangy taste left in your mouth is unforgettable. I sampled oils, their truffle sea salt is TO DIE FOR. I left with a sampler of my favorite oils and a jar of the freshest basil pesto for the co-workers to enjoy. Scoop some pesto over softened cream cheese, add crackers, boom. Instant appetizer. They devoured it. There's also a guest house on the property that sleeps 8. It's a great hideaway. read more

Came here for the Creston Wine Trail Passport Weekend event. We got to try all 18 olive oils! I never knew there could be so many flavors! All of them were very good and had their own distinct taste. Some of them she mixed together to give us another flavor. She also gave us examples of what kinds of dishes we could use the olive oils for. In addition to the tasting, they also had several other food tastings available, such as meatballs, humus, cheese/tomato sticks, etc. It was a really nice display and the lady was very friendly and knowledgeable. Stopped in to their Tin City tasting room with a reservation on 8/7/2020 and enjoyed the olive oil tasting. Since my palate isn't know for being overly sensitive, I was pleasantly surprised I was able to distinguish each of the flavors and effect of the oil and vinegar pairings, which greatly helped in deciding which ones we wanted to bring home. Another reviewer has posted a good review with pics and the rest of the information you would need, so I will leave it at that. The hostess practiced good social distancing and covid protection during the time we were in there with another couple. Parking was a little challenging, but it was nice being in an area where you could easily walk to multiple tastings (cider, wine, olive oil, sheep's milk ice cream, etc.). We did a couple of other olive oil tastings later in the week, many of which were a "blend" of different olives that had much stronger almost bitter after tastes. At the time we did the Olivas de Oro tasting, I underappreciated how clean and clear their olive oils really were. We would definitely return here again. read more

I picked up a bottle of the Rosemary Olive Oil at the Santana Row Farmers Market, and I must say its freakin great! The olives are organic and for this particular flavor, they mash the olives with the rosemary so they produce a strong, but not overpowering, delicious rosemary olive oil. read more
