Gosh, I wish Yelp would allow uploaded photos because I'd love to show off the beautiful pieces I purchased from Olde Chicago Antiques. I've decorated my home with buys from Olde Chicago... everything from Mid-Century Modern, to Art Deco, to Art Nouveau, to Victorian. Because I work out of my house I constantly have clients in my home studio. I can't count how many compliments I've received on my furniture and decorative pieces. They're very unique and in wonderful condition. One of my favorite pieces is a 1920s Art Deco boudoir floor lamp. It's shade is a delicate, black silk with a sprinkling of elegant pink flowers on the front, and black fringe all along the bottom of the uniquely shaped lamp shade. I've never seen another like it, or even close to it, anywhere else. These are the kinds of pieces you'll find at Olde Chicago. So, cool pieces are, well, cool to find. But the other thing that keeps me going back is the wealth of knowledge from the owner, Joe. He really knows his stuff! He can tell you the age of a piece, what style it follows, in what country it was made, the type of wood used, etc., etc., etc. I mean, to me, that type of expertise is priceless! And speaking of price, you'll always get a good one there. The owner imports most of his inventory from Scandinavia, Italy, the U.K., and other European countries. He works on small markups, so we, the customers, get really great deals. I'm so glad I stumbled onto this hidden gem! read more

This place is around the corner of my house and keeps odd hours, so I was finally able to step inside a mere few weeks ago. Walk in the door and you're instantly going to be overwhelmed by the sheer size of the place. Look up and you will see antique light fixtures and chandeliers that will cause your jaw to drop. I fell in love with a carved wood one featuring snakes crawling out of beautiful irises and looked out the price tag--$7500. Oy, my agita! Most of the wares are European, most are in lovely condition, and all of them have price tags that hurt me inside my soul. Towards the back of the store, the furniture starts to get decidedly Satanic. Lots of carved goats' heads, dark wood, and satyr-like beasts holding up useful items like credenzas and parlor chairs. "I've always wanted to own furnishings that were more evil," my friend mused. I agreed, but the price was not right. My dream of wooing Danzig via interior decorating will have to wait until after I hit the big time. Old Chicago Antiques is a fun experience. The staff are so friendly and incredibly helpful. I have honestly never had a better buying experience. They were very willing to accomodate my schedule for pickup, their delivery fee is incredibly reasonable, and they are just very very kind people on top of that. The store is very well organized and clean. There's a huge range of styles and types of pieces there. Some serious finds are just waiting in there to be scooped up. The place really is filled with treasures. I found a couple pieces that I'd been relentlessly hunting for around town and the burbs, but I found them here for half of what I was budgeting for! The pieces are priced right, and nobody's trying to swindle you here. Don't get me wrong--there's some pricey stuff, but it's because it's rare or really valuable! I just went for the first time last week, and I plan on going back to explore every few weeks. Totally worth a trip. Say hi to the employees, and you just might leave with a new friend! read more

I called to ask if he was interested in antique cocktail shakers and elegant glass. He told me he would call back-long story short. What he offered me was an insult. My guess he buys extremely low and sells for top dollar. On one of the reviews, a 300. Arts and Crafts hat stand was probably an alley pick up. So when you are in the store, offer half of what it is marked up! read more

Another place I am hesitant to talk about because I don't want it to get too popular! There are some amazing pieces here: deco, victorian, European and American, occasionally a mid-century piece or two. The secret is that a lot of the pieces are priced below market value. We got an Arts and Crafts hall tree here today for about $300 dollars, and were looking at others in the $500-1000 range that were not is nice. Is it cheap? No. But if you are a collector and want some great things for way under what you might pay in more exclusive antique showrooms, check it out. I know other dealers actually shop this place and turn around and sell it for a lot more! read more

We're moving right around the corner from here and I couldn't be more excited about it. The owners were warm and welcoming and the inventory was plentiful and varied. They even have a cool antique music box that they started up about 15 min after we got there. We can't wait to pop over here during our summer walks. read more

Not your usual Chicago antique store - more like the best organized, neatest, cleanest warehouse of carefully-selected treasures from furniture to outstanding chandeliers and decorative light fixtures - that will draw you in. This has to be one of the interior designers' best-kept secrets in town. Easy off-street parking. Know your antiques or know your dealer. You can trust this dealer as they've been around for many years (moved from Belmont Avenue) & have a very loyal following - including me. The prices are extremely reasonable, excellent selection of high quality European furniture - ranging from simple lines to the elegant and ornate. You'll also find some very high end pieces which appeal to interior designers. Among other things, I purchased the most beautiful inlaid drum table with a marble top that was on loan for a film shoot. Purchased without seeing the marble top & it was more beautiful than shop owner had described. i ALWAYS buy when i get to this store...........NOTHing is broken or hokey or put together. the owners.donnot lie about anything...they tell you the age the wood the country of origion the style AND the price is right. its not a junk shop........its GREAT quality stuff in PERFECT shape..........its priced accordingly.............for what it is........they have stuff from the 16th century up to mid'century'modern,,,,,,,,,im a dealer and always can buy 2 to 10 things and make n money.....nobody sells GOOD stuff reasonable...but old chicago does.......the owner works on a small percentage ........and SELLS it. he wants HAPPY PLEASED customers...no junk here.......go to a mall for that. really cant say enough good about it.......and they educate people to quality antiques.....but you dont have to pay blood..if yu dont know much about the stuff GO HERE they DO NOT LIE or misrepresent !!!!!!! its right as rain!!!!!!! read more
