Bathroom is functional and fuss free but smart and well kept. Cleanliness in the room was lacking overall. Dust in all surfaces, stains and splashes on a couple of walls... I would expect a better cleaning standard in the room. Food at the grill was okay... I wanted to order the veggie burger but it was not available, had to settle for a hummus wrap, it was not amazing, simply okay, specially for the price point a little salad could have also been served and some homemade fries. Skipping breakfast this morning but will be trying their coffee... The facilities look otherwise really good. If it was not due to the dusty room and the expensive-okay food i would have left happy to come back and awarded 5 stars.

The rooms have plasma screen tvs and iPod docking stations (your choons come out the telly), and very comfy beds. I had to ring reception to find out how to turn the telly on though (there's a button down the side - I must be incredibly old-fashioned or something cos I was feeling around on the front like a mental)... The showers are ace - you get two for the price of one; one massive one in the ceiling and one on a hose thingy. Be careful with the hose one, and don't turn it on while it's pointing in the general direction of your left ear, like I did. You go deaf for a bit. No mini-bar, but tea and coffee (no biscuits) are in your room. The breakfast I stuffed my rather green face with this morning was tasty enough, with an odd addition of sliced boiled potatoes (?). I like a buffet breakfast though, me. It's very liberating : ) The staff were all friendly and helpful, although I think the lady on reception who dealt with us was new cos she was very slow compared with all the other people. That said, I would love to stay here again so I've stuck my business card in every prize draw bowl and I'll keep my fingers crossed.

What severely lets it down is the appalling breakfast experience. The mushrooms tasted of cheese, the hash browns were rock hard and my poached eggs arrived undercooked and raw. Don't even get me started on the serving methods though. Food is served in antiquated metal food trays and customers take them off and are forced to pile them up to get to each section. This is truly a surprise after such a great experience until this point.

It is just a short 10 minute walk to the city centre (a nice straight road too so there is no way that you can get lost, which I have a tendancy to do). If you don't fancy a walk to get something to eat, there is a TGI Fridays underneath the hotel which is great. The hotel is relatively cheap (if you book in advance) but can be more expensive if you have a last minute trip. The only bad thing I really noticed was the fact that you had to pay for the use of the internet. Breakfast is not included but at £5.25 for an all you can eat buffet, its not half bad! Overall I thought this was a great place to stay and great value for money!

The Queens Hotel is a pub/bed and breakfast that looked big and cosy so i thought I'd give them a try. On entering, I was stared at slightly suspiciously (however, this may have been due to my bright red coat, bright yellow boots, and bright ginger hair) and I did feel a little uncomfortable. It was very quiet, and their were some local men propping up the bar as like in many traditional pubs in Leeds. I felt I had disturbed the peace a little, but it was warm, big and cosy as predicted so I just got on with ordering my coffee. The drink was £1.20 and delicious, (much better than my over milky Morrisons cafe disaster the other day) and it came with one of those straw shaped biscuits with the swirly chocolate inside. Mmm. Perfect and exactly what I needed. The interior of the place was very dated, like most of Moorley, but I found it charming. With thick floral carpets covering the floor and even the base of the bar, it felt warm and cocooned. Pictures and decorative bits and bobs covered the walls and beams which made it feel balanced and inhabited, but not cluttered or too busy. Drinks wise, I noticed that they do a small selection of red and white wines, bottles priced at £8.50 each, a huge selection of spirits around 2.10 a single, and the mainstream beers and bitters on tap. As for the Bed and Breakfast, I haven't stayed here but the website tells me that it is £18 per night per person or £22 pnpp including an evening meal. I have included a photo of the upstairs area for you to see. The kitchen is open Tuesday - Saturday 11am till 2pm and they do a senior citizens lunch deal of £3 between 11am and 12pm.

The reception and function areas are quite grand, but the bedrooms could do with a bit of a revamp. Still, there was a nice view of City Square and the proximity to the train station is obviously a bonus. Mum was in a twin room, which had two quite large single beds and all the amenities you'd expect from a hotel room - TV, coffee and tea making facilities and the bathroom was quite nice too. Quite a nice place all in all.

Amazing gardens, lovely decoration inside, very classy very well done. We got lucky to be in a private room with view over the gardens. The food arrived and we were pleasantly surprised. À lot of food !! We each had sandwiches, fruit tart, carot cake, brownie and the very awaited scones. My first scone ever. What a treat! It was delicious. We also had tea and treated ourselves to prosseco. We had a lovely time, service was great. I will definitely go back.
