I mostly stay in the Hilton chain, to collect points and because the IHG chain turned their back on the business man and woman during Covid. We were the only ones keeping them open, but I digress. Most of the reviews I saw here were from about 10 years ago. I had work at the Portal Border crossing for a week. I stayed in Minot for the majority of the time and commented the 90 minutes drive to and from daily. I needed to extend an extra day, but couldn't as it was the start of the Minot State Fair. All hotels were booked full and I was not going to stay at a Super 8. I had driven past the Kenmare Quilt Inn on my way to Portal several times and thought as it was on my way back to Minot, I would give them a try. Soooo Grateful!!! I booked a king room. I was on the first floor, which was so helpful for me as I had lots of luggage with tools and supplies it had to carry along for work. The room was well appointed. It had a microwave and mini fridge and it even had an upholstered recliner which was so comfortable I found myself sleeping a bit in it. The King size bed was sooo comfortable and the foam pillows were not too stiff and had just the right amount of support. The sheets were soft and smooth to the touch. The towels were as nice or softer than I get at Hilton. The staff was friendly and accommodating. All and all, 5 stars. When I come back, I would prefer to stay here! Thank you Quilt Inn! Not much else I look for in a motel room. A few quirks: - They charge $20 per missing bathroom towel so make sure you keep that on lockdown! - There is only one iron and ironing board for the entire motel; don't leave your ironing for the last minute. - There's a local bar nearby so there can be some rowdy spillover in the parking lot once the bar shuts down.
